Fine Featherheads Hair Extension

I love hair extensions. They are quick and easy to add to your hair and can spruce up any outfit and you’ll look great for a night out.  But best of all, they’re not permanent, so you can put them in after you leave work and not have to worry about any sort of dress code issues you may be violating coming in to work looking like a rock star. (But everyone should END their night looking like a rock star). http://finefeatherheads.com has a great selection of different feathers available as well as some other great hair accessories too.  They are available in some awesome colors and so, so easy to put in your hair (check out their website for tips and tricks to “installing” them in your hair!)   You can get vibrant colors like blues and reds to contrast with your color, or there are more natural colors that would totally blend in with my dark brown hair, but at the same time give me a different look than my usual (boring) one.  Even if feathers aren’t your think, the website also has some hair chalk (I am really wanting to try this out sometime soon!) and some hair ties as well.  So if you are looking for a way to kick your look up a notch – look no further than http://finefeatherheads.com 🙂

DoSomething.org 20th Birthday Party

Wednesday night I was able to attend the DoSomething.org 20th birthday party.  Hanson.net was giving away 50 tickets to fans since they would be performing.  We had no idea what to expect – we knew it would be a fancy charity event but other than that knew nothing.  We arrived at the Hammerstein Ballroom, checked in and were ushered upstairs to the balcony to grab a seat.  Sitting near us was the PS22 Chorus and they were all really getting into the songs the DJ was playing!  PS22 ended up leaving to go get ready to perform and they opened the show with some songs from 20 years ago – Goo Goo Dolls Iris and Oasis Wonderwall.  Then they went into MMMBop and Hanson joined them on stage.  (Not quite 20 years old yet… but getting three!)  Hanson ended up playing MMMBop and their new single Get The Girl Back.

We weren’t sure if that would be it or not, so we stuck around.  Isaac, Taylor and Zac were at one of the gala tables eating so we figured as long as they were still around, we might as well stick around.  I learned a lot about DoSomething and they really are a great organization and encourage teens to start their own campaigns to help others and many of them have been very successful.  One of them is “give a spit about cancer” and they brought a girl up who registered to be in the bone marrow system and saved a 5 year old girls life.  They had a video from her family that was very touching.

The CEO and COO (I think that’s their titles) of Do Something were also in a dunk tank by the end of the night.  It started out that if they raised $1mil that Nancy would be dunked, but Aria ended up saying that if they raised I think $10k more, she would be in the dunk tank too – without a change of clothed.  They added a HUGE cooler full of ice and both ended up soaked to end the evening.  Then there was a big dance party and Hanson hung around and chatted with everyone.

Overall, it was a very interesting night, but very inspirational and fun.  Not something I probably would have found myself involved in otherwise, but I am glad I went.

Book Review: Broken Build

I was initially drawn to this book because the write up said that it had sexual situations and bible verses.  I wasn’t really sure how those two would go together, plus, the write up about the book had interested me as well, so I figured I would give it a go.

Then I found out the main character is an engineer – and a female – so of course that drew me in immediately and I was hooked!  So much suspense and drama in the book!  The book kind of reminds me a bit of the girl with the dragon tattoo – which is one of my favorites.  Strong female lead, technical stuff going on, smart ladies, ACTION!, etc.

What happens is, Jen is out with a guy named Rey and he drops her off at work because the build is broken and she needs to repair it but couldn’t do it remotely. So she is at work late at night and assumes Rey has gone home.  Except that the next day Rey is found dead.  And who is suspend number one?  Jen.  She was in the building near where he was killed and her phone is found with a text from him.  She tries to lay low and not let anyone know that they knew each other, but a detective is on her case and well, he doesn’t seem to be the only one following her.

Can Jen and Dave figure out who did this to Rey and prove that Jen is innocent?  And just what is this “secret” Jen is hiding? Oooh. I think it’s a good one.

This book is a little bit on the longer side coming in at 353 pages, however, there is so much going on in it you won’t want to put it down!  Before you know it you’ll be a third of the way through and dying to know what is going to happen next and what the outcome will be – I know that’s how I was!
