About

My name is Katie,  I am 39 years old.  I started this blog in 2008 to give myself a place to write all of my concert reviews and other thoughts that were on my mind because I was afraid I might forget how to write if I didn’t keep at it.  I named the site “Concert Katie” because it is a nickname my cousins gave me that is pretty appropriate… since I am always either at a concert or planning my next trip to a concert!

I graduated college in 2006 with a B.S. in Engineering.  I also minored in Communication/Journalism and Web Design. I got my Master’s in Cyber Security in 2020.  I currently work as a System Software Quality Assurance Engineer in Avionics.  I also face life with mild cerebral palsy.

In 1998 I went to my first concert – Hanson.  Just shy of 10 years later, I went to my 100th concert – Honor Society. In 2010 I went to my 200th concert – Tyler Hilton. In 2011 I hit concert #250 – Hanson. (A show where the setlist had *3* songs with my name in them between Hanson and the opening act!) I try to attend at least 1 concert a month, though it is usually many more than that. Show #300 came in September 2012, 350 in June of 2013 and 400 came the night before my 30th birthday (July 2014). Show #450 came in Jamaica in 2016, 500 was Freestyle 90s in 2017, 550  was Jamaica 2018, 600 was a Hanson show in Australia (at the Sydney Opera House!) and 650 was another Jamaica trip, 700 was Hanson in Boston, 750 was Hanson in Tulsa and the countdown to #800 will probably be starting soon.  I’ve been successful with monthly goal since 2009 – with a gap in October 2014 – however, in my defense, I had tickets for a show but the tour was canceled – so I’m not counting my streak out just yet.  2020 proved to be a bit of a challenge, but including virtual shows, the streak is still alive as of the end of 2023!

In late 2010 I decided to try my hand at product reviews and giveaways.  I love to read and often review the books I have read whether I am required to or not.  In the future, I would love to do more music related giveaways backed by record labels.  Right now it is just a dream but my motto is – Dream Big.

Other than attending concerts, my hobbies include scrapbooking (You will see some of my layouts posted on the blog), collecting elongated pennies and sending postcards around the world. Occasionally I will blog about those things too.
