Tuesday night we saw the 13 guys perform. Sneakily enough, they added the person coming back at the end of the show in order to get me invested in the other contestants just in case Johnny wasn’t the one coming back. Slick Idol, slick.
Wednesday night it was time for the Top 12 girls. Overall I think they did better than the guys. Ryan said it would be the first time a girl has won in 5 seasons if one wins this year. Pretty crazy.
Thursday America’s top 5 guys and to 5 girls will be chosen with each judge getting a wild card to give us the top 13. That seems really soon to be down to the top 13!
My thoughts on all the performances under the cut!
I was not home Thursday night in order to see who made it to the Top 13, so expect a post on that over the weekend!
Reed Grimm – Moves Like Jagger – Did he really say shit in his song? LOL Or were they just bleeping in anticipation? I also like the save he made when the mic pack fell. I like that he took things a bit more serious this time than his other auditions (the theme to family matters and golden ticket) and it was a decent performance.
Adam Brock – Think – Adam is this year Gokey. Why I must come up with a Gokey nearly every year, I don’t know. Adam is my mom’s pick for this year. He’s good but I’m not sure how far he will go.
DeAndre Brackensick – Reasons – Not really into this performance but I do like him so we’ll have to see what happens. He seemed to end on a good note though so that might be what people remember.
Colton Dixon – Decode – I really don’t like that they let him audition even though he wasn’t planning on it and made it this far. I wasn’t impressed with his performance either. It was like the band was too loud compared to him.
Jeremy Rosado – Gravity – His twitter presence has turned me off to him. I was hoping his singing would change my mind. It didn’t.
Aaron Marcellus – Never Can Say Goodbye – Ack! My first rule of Idol is never pick a song about Goodbye or going home! It’s a jinx. I really liked his performance though so let’s hope he proves me wrong!
Chase Likens – Storm Warning – I don’t know the song and I don’t like country so I was not digging this in the slightest. (Someday I’ll admit that I do kind of like country haha)
Creighton Fraker – True Colors – I did like him going in to this but I’m not sure what to think at this point. I’m not sure he’ll make it through.
Phillip Phillips – In The Air Tonight – This is one of my FAVORITE songs since I was a kid. This was a great rendition and one of the best performances all night.
Eben Franckewitz – Set Fire To The Rain – Again I think the backing band drowned him out a bit. Although from what I could hear he didn’t sound good at all.
Heejun Han – Angels – I just can not stand him so I am not going to say anything about his performance because he could be the best in the whole competition and I’d still want to punch him in the face. *shrug*
Joshua Ledet – You Pulled Me Through – I like him! He seemed to put himself totally into the song as well, it was awesome.
Jermaine Jones – Ok, so I definitely did scream NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO when he walked out on the stage, but I had a feeling it would be him (even though I obviously very much so wanted Johnny) because of how distraught Jennifer looked when they had to tell him no. Let’s just hope his performance was enough for America to vote him through. (And hopefully this will remove the judges save from this season? oh please oh pretty please?)
The 6 guys I would like to see through to the next round are Phil Phillips, Joshua Ledet, Aaron Marcellus, Reed Grimm, Adam Brock and DeAndre Brackensick. (Based on all performances, not just performance night) Although I know at least one of these will be wrong and Colton will make it through.
Chelsea Sorrell – Cowboy Cassanova – There were moments I really didn’t like in this song. But it wasn’t too horrible.
Erika Van Pelt – What About Love – Erika is one of my favorites and I thought she did great!
Jen Hirsch – One and Only – I liked parts of this but I think other parts were really bad. Not sure my thoughts on Jen.
Brielle Von Hugel – Sitting on the Dock of the Bay – Did not like her performance at all.
Hallie Day – Feeling Good – Another one of the girs that I have on my list, she also did great!
Skylar Lane – Stay With Me – She has a lot of energy and I enjoyed her performance.
Baylie Brown – Amazed – I wasn’t all that impressed. She started off rocky and seemed to find her way a bit further in to the song but I still wasn’t amazed by her. I think it was nerves, so that stinks for her.
Hollie Cavanagh – Reflection – Tackling Christina is a tough job, but I think she did well.
Haley Johnsen – Sweet Dreams – Definitely not what I was expecting from her at all! It had really really scary moments that were really pitchy. Not sure if it was the worst of the night but it certainly wasn’t the best.
Shannon Magrane – Go Light Your World – Another of my early favorites. She might not have done as well as some of the others, but she’s really good. Probably top 3 though! (of the night)
Jessica Sanchez – Love You Do – Great performance. Great voice! Not much else to say about that lol
Elise Testone – One and Only – uhh wasn’t this already done earlier? Odd they’d let them both have the same song with no theme. I was hoping that Elise wouldn’t do that well because I already had my 6 picked. But I’m gonna add her too haha. It’s possible that it’s 7-6 in the girls favor (for once)!
My 6 picks for the girls are Erika Van Pelt, Hallie Day, Skylar Lane, Hollie Cavanagh, Shannon Magrane, Jessica Sanchez. And perhaps Elise Testone as a wild card.
