You may remember one of my goals for 2010 was to put all my change into a bank and then at the end of the year see how much I had saved.
I pulled out all the quarters, because I figured it would be silly to bring it to the bank when I’d end up taking it back out later before I go on a penny trip. I had $14 in quarters.
Then my mom said she would give me dollars for dollar coins, so I pulled those out – there were 27. (I get 3 of these every time I buy a round trip train ticket to NYC – so I must have bought 9 through the course of the year to end up with $27, because I don’t think I get these in change anywhere else)
And finally – we brought the pennies, nickels and dimes to the bank. I was pretty sure I only had like $5 or $7. My mom looked at the bag and guessed that it was $17. The bank counter said it was $19.32. I guess I need to spend more time around change LOL I thought it was mostly pennies, but I guess not!
So all total, I had saved $60.32 over the course of a year in my pocket change!
