The Daily Post

What’s the single most important thing you accomplished in 2010? And how do you plan to top it in 2011?

As far as this blog is concerned, the most important thing was going to at least 1 concert a month for the entire year of 2010 (and 2009 before that!)  As well as getting everything posted in a somewhat timely manner. I am not sure that I plan to top that in 2011, but rather, just keep on doing what I’m doing. (And perhaps actually follow through with this challenge to have close to a post every day for the entire year!)  Ideally, I’d like to get reviews posted when I return from the shows that night and pretend I work for a publication that would be publishing it in the next day’s paper, but that isn’t always easy – driving home, another concert the next day to prepare for, etc.

I need a January concert!

I need a concert for January! For the past 2 years I have gone to at least 1 concert a month and I am trying very hard to continue that streak in 2011. However, I can’t seem to find a suitable show for January. (The cheaper and closer to home, the better)

Last night I had considered going to New Jersey to see Ingram Hill and Curtis Peoples. I think the last time I saw Ingram Hill was in New Jersey several years ago at the same venue. However, American Idol started up and I didn’t feel like making the trek to NJ anyway. (Though hopefully I will have a DVR soon so TV shows will not rule my life haha)

Tomorrow the two are performing in NYC but I have a hard time getting to NYC by myself so that probably won’t be happening either. (And there is talk of MORE SNOW!) There are only 11 days left in the month so I have to get my act together.

It looks like I’ll end up in Hamden at The Space checking out Kicking Daisies. I enjoyed them opening for Hanson and it will be nice to see them in their element with their own fans as opposed to the Hanson fans. (Not that I could really see what kind of reaction they were getting since I was in the front row)

I’ve also decided that if said show gets postponed because of the possibility of us getting more snow (though, I hope not) I still get to count it as a January show. I make the rules here… I can do whatever I want haha

If anyone can recommend me any other good shows in January – preferably in Connecticut – I’d be open to consider going to them! (Or if you know of any other good tours passing through the state in the upcoming months!)
