My first day of High School.

How was your first day of High School? Get locked in a locker? Sit by the cute and popular guy at lunch? Were you nervous? Did you get lost trying to find your classes?

I was incredibly nervous my first day of high school and ended up missing 4 of my first 8 days of school because I was having adjustment problems.  Or maybe I was just having really, really bad post concert depression as I had seen (and met) Hanson for the first time the night before. It was around this time I was diagnosed with TMJ (which, 8 years later, may finally be on its way to going away thanks to my braces…)

No I haven’t

4. STRUTTER: “She wears her satin like a lady, She gets her way just like a child. You take her home and she says, “Maybe, come on, baby”, She puts you down and drives you wild”
Do you know someone who easily manipulates others?
I can’t say that I do, fortunately.

5. I WAS MADE FOR LOVIN YOU: “Tonight I wanna see it in your eyes, Feel the magic, there’s something that drives me wild. And tonight we’re gonna make it all come true, ‘Cause girl, you were made for me, And girl, I was made for you”

What first prompted you to blog?

Why did you create a blog?

I was worried that since I wasn’t doing much writing at my current job, I would forget how.  I toyed with a few topics but decided to “stick with what I knew” which was going to concerts. I try to give my overall experience and opinion on the topic and not just say what happened like you might see in the newspaper.  Mostly it was all for my own benefit and memories – I had been writing reviews of shows since my first concert in 1998, but kept them on my personal website and really no one ever read them. Now I have a bit of an audience, which keeps me in check a bit. (Some of my old reviews were thrown together sloppily, or years after the show!)

First Book&Movie of the year!

Every year I set a goal for myself to read a certain number of book and watch a certain number of movies.  This year, my goal is 52 movies and 20 books.

For my first book AND movie – I chose Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. (Now, if the book technically counts towards my list since it is a children’s book is up for debate lol)

Usually I like to read books before I watch the movie, because then I get to make up in my head what all the characters look like, without having them skewed by whoever was cast (or created) for the movie.  However this time I watched the movie first.

The next day I found a youtube video of someone reading the book so I was able to follow along (and it was also illustrated so I really wouldn’t have been able to picture my own characters!)

The two are VERY different.  While the general idea is the same – food falling from the sky – the way it happens is different.  I have to say, I enjoyed the movie more than the book, maybe because the movie had a bit more of a technical aspect to it that I tend to enjoy. (And I thought the police officer’s son, Cal, was adorable!)

I am not sure I would have felt the same way if I had read the book as a kid and it became a childhood favorite though.  I can see why there were some people who loved the book who were not into the movie at all.

But, these kids books are short (like ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ and ‘Polar Express’) So they do have to add in things to make it movie length and not just 10 minutes long, I guess.

The Daily Post – Day 5

Do you prefer to talk, text message, or a different communication method?

I think my most popular forms of communication would have to be email, followed by BBM, followed by text.  I don’t have a decent text plan (200 a month) so I tend to not text back to people (especially if they sent me a message that probably went to ALL of their contacts on Holidays) because I don’t want to “waste” what little texts I have.

And I absolutely hate to talk on the phone. I won’t answer my phone if it is a number I don’t recognize and I tend to wait FOREVER to call people back if they leave me a message.  I’d rather email you lol

The Daily Post – Day 4

Share something that makes you smile. (Can be a photo, an idea, a memory – anything that comes to mind).

This picture is a few things that make me smile all in one – Zac Hanson, drummers, concerts w/ friends, front row, seated shows, shows where I can get my “big” camera in, shows with good lighting

The Daily Post

I just found out about “The Daily Post” which will be posting prompts daily (go figure!) to get people to blog every day in 2011.  I’m not sure I can commit to that entirely but I figured I would do their first few prompts and see where we end up from there.  Worst case I do the previous weeks every Monday or something like that… at least until I get bored 😉

December 31
List three countries you’d like to visit, and why you want to go.

Australia is definitely one. I can’t really put my finger on why but I’d love to check out the Sydney Opera House and I guess I think it is cool that it can snow there on my birthday since it is winter there in July! And their toilets flush backwards… (Or maybe ours are backwards?)

Paris… I seem to have a fascination with the Eiffel tower. Not sure why… but I’d love to visit it!

Ok so this is not a country – but Africa. I very much so would like to go on an African Safari.  I guess if I have to pick a specific part I would say Sierra Leone – I don’t know if they have safaris but the boy I sponsor, Moses, lives there and I’d love to meet him 🙂

January 1
Name someone who deserves more credit than they get. And for bonus points, how to change things so they get more

Hanson. Duh. They get written off as kids or a one hit wonder (or are thought of to be ridiculously old for some reason) but they are actually incredibly talented and definitely deserve a lot more credit than they get.  Shout It Out is one of my favorite albums, probably ever, but it sold very poorly because a lot of people decide that since they didn’t like MMMBop they won’t like their stuff.  Well, it has been 13 years since MMMBop, you’ve grown up and so have they – so give them a chance! Not to mention, their live shows are amazing… I wouldn’t keep going back for more if they weren’t.  Honestly I think the only way to change this would be for them to change the band’s name – and I would hate for that to happen (and I am pretty sure they would never do it either) so I will just continue on being clued in to one of the best kept secrets of music!

January 2
What’s the single most important thing you accomplished in 2010?
I’m sure there were more important things – but I am going to be trivial and narrow it down to meeting John Mayer.  That has been on my life list since I first saw him live in 2002 or 2003. (It sucks I can’t list all my concerts off the top of my head anymore like I used to! haha) I just love him and I thought our meeting was fantastic even if it was rather short… (though we totally monopolized him haha) and I love him.  Even though he has no filter and just says things as soon as they pop in to his head and that tends to get him in trouble.

…and speaking of doing things daily – I started a tumblr.  It is a little bit of everything (because I didn’t feel like making a separate account for reblogging stupid things) but the main purpose is to do Project 365 where you take a picture a day for a year. I decided to start on 1.1.11 rather than at some other point – so every day I will take a picture of something – it might be random or it might have a purpose or you might not understand what the heck it is I took a picture of.. but it will be posted at http://concertkatie.tumblr.com

January Prompts

I saw that A Bloggy Mommy posted some Dare/Prompts for January – so I decided that I will be participating in some.  Some of them don’t pertain to me (as I am not a Mommy!) so I will be picking and choosing a bit so I won’t have something daily, but hopefully it will end up in me posting some interesting things that people will want to read (especially since it seems like concerts will be few and far between this year – unless I can manage to start winning tickets again!)
