If you’re anything like me – the best things to scrap are your vacations! But through the course of the days you are away you can collect a lot of things – some little, some big that can easily get lost in your luggage. On my recent trip to Vegas I tried to figure out a way that I could keep everything together while on the trip. It wasn’t a perfect method and probably could use some improving upon for my next trip – but here’s what I did.
I decided that a 5×7 envelope should do the trick. The mistake here was I took one that had the opening at the top as opposed to the side. As in, the opening went across the 7 inch part and not the 5 inch part so larger brochures, maps, etc didn’t really fit in it comfortably. Fortunately while there, we obtained a regular mailing envelope and all but one of the brochures we had picked up fit in it. At that point you can decide to fold it or keep it sticking out to not ruin it. Next time, I’ll probably bring an 8×10 envelope that opens on the 8 side, just to be on the safe side.
The envelope was kept on the nightstand and every night I went through my purse and took out anything I had collected throughout the day. Confetti, ticket stubs, brochures, receipts, etc because I never know what I’m going to want to end up using. Sometimes my friend even picked up some things along the way and “donated” them to the envelope as well.
Then when it is time to leave, grab the envelope (or in my case it became 3 envelopes) and keep it in a safe place. If you think you can fit it in your purse without it getting too banged up that’s probably best, but I have a nice flat pocket in my travel backpack that is perfect for this. And I never check my backpack on the airplane so I know that everything will be with me at all times. (I think I’d be more upset losing potential scrapbook items than I would be if some of my clothes went missing, to be honest)
How about you – what do you do to keep track of everything? let me know in the comments!
