Recap:

I’m actually reading my old review from just after the show to refresh my memory. I’m not quite brave enough to post THAT review haha but there were 2nd stages and apparently Michael Africk and INOJ played on the side stage. I do not have any recollection of this whatsoever, nor do I know who they are so they must have gone quite far… The Rosie O’Donnell show was also a big deal back in 1999 and she had a kid named Colin on a lot.  I thought I saw him outside before the show and my mom told me it wasn’t him – and then he ended up on stage later and it was him.  I was not at all interested in the opening acts (I guess some things will never change) until Jordan Knight performed. We were on the lawn so we didn’t have all that great of a view and after the show we went by where the buses were leaving and I am pretty sure Chris looked out the window at us. (In fact years later I am still pretty sure that was Chris.)

Where Are They Now:

3rd Storee-  They released a 2nd album in 2002 but didn’t seem to do much after that.

Sugar Hill Gang – According to Wikipedia, they were no longer active after 2007.

Jordan Knight – reunited with NKOTB in 2008, working on a solo effort Nick and Knight with Nick Carter of the backstreet boys

NSYNC – on indefinite hiatus, though briefly reunited last summer for the VMAs.

Product Review: Grandstand Ink Custom Tickets

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

img141

As I’ve mentioned before, I run a Hanson fansite that is called HansonStage.  We list all of Hanson’s tour dates, setlists (where available) and also have photos of many of the tickets to their shows as well. With the Hanson Day weekend coming up I had been looking for a way to make a fun business card to hand out to fans that I met and I wanted to make it look like a ticket!  Unfortunately, I was not able to get together with Grandstand early enough to have these done to take with me for the weekend – but they are done now and look GREAT so I am looking forward to my next event(s) so that I can hand them out and do some great promotion for my site!

While they don’t technically offer business cards that are admission tickets – they do offer business cards and admission tickets so I talked to them to see if we could make it happen and they said it would not be a problem.  I uploaded the header from the website and the text content that I wanted included and their design team got back to me with a proof that looked awesome!

Once things shipped they were here within a week and I could not be happier with the end product. Be sure to check out all that is available at GrandstandStore.com.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Jesus Christ Super Star Arena Spectacular – CANCELED

unnamed

If there was one show I was majorly excited for that I was going to this summer – it was to see the Jesus Christ Superstar Arena Spectacular. It wasn’t so much the show I was excited for – but the fact that we had VIP tickets which meant you were going to meet at least 2 of the 5 leads – one of those 5 leads being JC Chasez of *NSYNC… that I was excited for.  It wasn’t a 100% guarantee we were going to meet him – but it was probably as close as we were going to get so it was a gamble that we had to take.

The tour was set to start on Monday – with the cast flying out to start their final rehearsals yesterday. Except on Friday… I got a text from Christine (my partner in crime for this VIP experience) with a photo of a tweet from Ben Forster – who is Jesus in the show.

My heart is broken. My beautiful talented cast and company I adore. This wonderful show & opportunity is over. I’m so sorry I am devastated.

At first we weren’t entirely sure what was going on – but slowly the news was spreading – the arena tour had been canceled and all tickets would be refunded.  It’s a very sad situation for the cast, crew and all the fans who were excited to attend.

Jesus Christ Superstar Arena Spectacular Tour Cancelled

May 30, 2014 – Options Clause Entertainment LLC, an affiliate of S2BN Entertainment, announced today the cancellation of the Jesus Christ Superstar Arena Spectacular Tour. The tour was scheduled to kick off in New Orleans on June 9. All purchased tickets will be refunded. Tickets purchased online and via telephone will be automatically refunded. Tickets purchased from outlets/venue box office must be returned to that location for refund.

Product Review: Presto Photo Scrapbook Pages

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

On my bucket list is to create my own line of scrapbook paper.  I have ideas in my head for Hanson and The Wanted, etc pages but have not yet had the time to create them and I also didn’t know how to go about getting the pages printed once I did design them because I use 12×12 paper and have yet to find a place that can print them.

Then I discovered Presto Photo.  You can create your own digital scrapbook pages and get them printed in a book or just have them printed as loose pages if you want to put them in a book.  Or, you can do what I did and buy a digital scrapbook kit on Etsy and get the pages printed out to use in your scrapbook.  (And in the future, to get my custom made scrapbook pages printed.)

They have 6 different paper types to choose from –

Heavy Pearl Paper
300 GSM This is a glamorous option! There is luminosity to the paper that brings out all of the rich colors and shadows of the imagery. If you want a vibrant shimmer and shine on heavy paper, this is the one to choose.

Heavy Lustre
260 GSM For the truest color reproduction, choose this paper. It is brilliantly shiny and all the little details will be there. This is our favorite paper.

Heavy Semi-Gloss
300 GSM Slightly heavier than our Lustre option, it is sleek and has a more subtle shine.

Heavy Matte
300 GSM For the artist and architect – bring your designs to life. This paper has no shine and really shows of detail.

Premium
146 GSM A classic choice, this paper is lightweight with a slight gloss.

Silk
118 GSM This paper is the thinnest we offer, similar to the pages of a magazine. This is our most affordable option and your images will have a softer quality to them. This is the perfect paper if you have a budget and still want outstanding printed pages!

And all are available at a reasonable cost per page.  Simply upload your images to your album and check out with loose pages (if you’re not getting a whole book) and ta-da! Great quality papers will be delivered to your door.  I am very pleased with the quality and can’t wait to get to work and use them in some of my upcoming layouts!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Try It Tuesday: Scraplifting!

Scrapbook.com Gallery Herman’s Hermits Credit to scrapbook.com and user Henri Jean for uploading this inspirational layout

“Scraplifting” is the term used when you take someone else’s scrapbook idea and “steal” it.  You may scraplift just an element, you may just get an idea from someone else’s page, or maybe you’ll just copy it completely. I have a section on my pinterest dedicated to scrapbook layouts in hopes they will give me inspiration.  This post will focus on 1 layout I “scraplifted”

Book Review: The Road to Nyn

The Road to Nyn - frontcover

The Road To Nyn tells the story about a boy named Kay.  He is training to be a knight but at the same time is also studying forbidden magic.  He became a squire and then decided that he was going to leave his magic studying since every spell he casts, something bad happens and he doesn’t think he is quite cut out for it.

Except that then things take a bit of a turn when his village is attacked by goblins and his family is captured! Now Kay must go on a journey to save his family and friends.

The journey is quite a sci-fi adventure, with pretty much everything I was looking for in such an adventure. Great characters and lots of challenges that Kay needs to overcome.  Kay was also a great character that you just had to root for and hoped that he would come out on top! (Although in the beginning it did take a while for me to get through my head that he was a male character since his name is similar to mine lol)

I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review and participate in the blog tour. I was not otherwise compensated and all thoughts and opinions are mine.

The Road to Nyn Book Summary:
In a land where magic is outlawed, a young boy is living a double life. Although Kay is training to be a knight, he has been secretly studying the forbidden ways of magic with Alamin, a powerful but eccentric wizard.

After passing of the Trial of the Rings and being raised to squirehood, Kay has decided to tell Alamin that he is going to leave his magical studies behind. And why not? Kay hasn’t ever cast a spell without something going seriously wrong–like the random appearance of frogs or hungry wolves–besides, Kay could be banished from the kingdom just for associating with Alamin.

Kay’s plans are quickly obliterated when a horde of goblins attacks his village and captures his family and friends. Now, with his home lying in ruins, everything has changed. Along with Alamin and Felix, a self-serving kleptomaniac sprite, Kay embarks on an adventure that takes him across the Kingdom of Gaspar and into the dark and treacherous caves of the Goblin Realm. What Kay doesn’t realize is that his journey is leading him on a collision course with the Lord of Nyn – a being so powerful that none dare face him…not even Alamin himself!

Brian Michaud’s Bio:

CD Review: David Gray Mutineers + Giveaway

David Gray is coming out with his new album, Mutineers, very soon! You may know David from his hit “Babylon”.  Mutineers is going to be his TENTH studio album (impressive!) and his first in 4 years.  To mark the news, David is unveiling the video for “Gulls” which is the first track from the album that is being streamed ahead of release.

To coincide with Mutineers, Gray will tour the UK for the first time in three years. The headline tour, commencing at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall on June 23 will include a show at London’s Royal Albert Hall on June 24. The dates follow a run of sold-out US shows across April and May and three sold-out intimate shows earlier this year at Westminster’s Emmanuel Centre. US dates are:

April 24th Los Angeles, CA Wilshire Ebell Theatre
April 25th San Francisco, CA Palace of Fine Arts
April 27th Tacoma, WA Pantages Theatre
April 29th Washington, DC Lincoln Theatre
April 30th New York, NY Grand Ballroom
May 2nd Philadelphia, PA Temple Performing Arts Centre
May 3rd Boston, MA Emerson Colonial Theatre
May 4th Toronto, ON Danforth Theatre

Recorded in Church Studios, London and produced by Andy Barlow (Lamb), whose brief was to not let Gray “make the same record I’ve made before.” The result is an album that seems to fizz with the joy of its own assembly and finds Gray steering into unfamiliar territory while cultivating a pugnacious but respectful relationship with his own history. “I know I’ve done something here that has an authority that is inspiring me and I don’t have to worry about my past or any of that. The lovely thing about this is we’ve had the time to experiment, and it’s been wonderful,” says Gray.

David Gray captured the world’s attention with his breakout multi-platinum hit White Ladder, the first of three No.1 UK albums, earning him both Brit and Grammy nominations. He has continued to build on this success, with recent albums Draw The Line (2009) and Foundling (2010), both reaching the Billboard Top 10 in the US.

Mutineers Track Listing:
Back in the World
As the Crow Flies
Mutineer
Beautiful Agony
Last Summer
Snow in Vegas
Cake and Eat It
Birds of the High Arctic
The Incredible
Girl Like You
Gulls
Nearly Midnight (bonus track)

I did have one of David’s earlier releases (White Ladder – the CD with Babylon on it) so I had an idea of what to expect going in to listening to this cd.  Overall it is a very solid CD and after listening to it a few go throughs, there are no songs that are ones I consider “must skip” and the CD as a whole really flows.  Overall the CD is mellow and I liked having it as background music while cleaning up my room and working on blog posts. It was great “background noise” (although I hate to call it that!) and would also be great in the car on the way to work as well (and I wouldn’t be surprised if it made an appearance on my next road trip as well.) I don’t have a favorite song from the CD but I do enjoy Back in the World, Cake and Eat It and Girl Like You.

Product Review: Picture Collage Maker

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

A while back I had purchased 2 empty photobooks that came with 8×10 photo paper so you could print and make your own photo books.  With the move I’m not sure where they are – but I know that once they are found I now have the perfect software to do some digital pages and finally complete these books like I had thought I could when I bought them!

Picture Collage Maker is a powerful yet easy-to-use collage maker that enables you to create stunning art works on both Windows and Mac OS X. It comes with 140+ gorgeous templates for all kind of occasions (and there are more on their website which you can add-on!)  In less than a half an hour I made 3 pretty nice pages (if I do say so myself) and that was just messing around.  With a theme and the photos I want to use – watch out – I’ll be able to make a beautiful book either to keep or give away as a gift.

There are tons of decorations to use – backgrounds, clipart, frames, masks, etc and you can fully customize pages with features like rotate, resize, crop, text, calendar, etc.   There are also plenty of options for you to share your finished product!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
