Product Review: Barber Chicken Cordon Bleu

I recently got to try the Barber Chicken Cordon Bleu from Barber Foods.  It is available in the freezer aisle of most grocery stores and has a few varieties.  The chicken is raw so they cannot be microwaved, only cooked in the oven.  This was a bummer because I prefer to microwave but since I was not looking to get sick from undercooked chicken, into the oven they went.  2 breasts cook in just about a half an hour.  The Cordon Bleu flavor is stuffed with American and Swiss cheese and Ham.  I found that there was plenty of cheese (yum) but it was a bit skimpy on the ham.  The chicken was good, moist and I enjoyed the breading as well.  This is something that I can see myself eating for meals quite often, or just as a special treat.

Product Review: Prefer Green Portion Control Containers

I have been trying to diet on and off for the last few years with minimal results.  I have been told that the key to weight loss is portions.  I will be trying out the Prefer Green 7 Piece Portion Control containers that I recently received.  They are 100% Leak Proof and help you portion out what you should be eating.  They are color coded and come with a guide to help you figure out which food products should be used with which container.  I was surprised to see how tiny the dressing container was – I am using much more than that on my salads.

The containers are made of high quality propylene and a BPA and DEHP free. They are dishwasher and microwave save.  They fit in side of each other as well, so all you need to store is the 2 containers that are 1-cup in size, the others can all stack inside of each other to save space!  Using these will be a bit of a rude awakening for me, but I hope that it can lead to healthier eating habits.

Product Review: Jammy Jams Pop Goes Lullaby 6

This is not the first Jammy Jams lullaby album that I have reviewed and it probably won’t be the last, but I have to say that Pop Goes Lullaby 6 is probably my favorite one yet.  I have been having trouble sleeping lately and I was asleep about 4 songs in on this one.  It is filled with lullaby (instrumental) versions of some of the most popular songs on Top 40 radio.  I honestly didn’t think there would ever be a rendition of Can’t Feel My Face that I would ever enjoy – but one that can help lull me to sleep is definitely something that I am a fan of.  Great for babies or adults.

Product Review: Kitchen Gizmo Angry Mama Microwave Cleaner

I’ll be honest, I was drawn to this “Angry Mama” because I thought it looked a bit like me.  I also live in a house that loves to try out all sorts of new and fun kitchen gizmos and gadgets so I knew we had to try it out.  Angry Mama is a plastic container which you fill with white vinegar and water (there are lines on the back to show you where to fill it to).  Then you pop it in the microwave for 5-8 minutes.  Steam starts to come out of the Angry Mama’s head which softens the junk in the microwave making it really easy to just wipe it clean afterwards.

Angry Mama is innovative and eco-friendly.  No chemicals needed – just white vinegar and water. It saves you time scrubbing by doing most of the work for you.  It is made with heat resistant materials which means it is durable and Top Rack Dishwasher and (of course) Microwave Safe.

CAUTION: HOT! BEWARE WHEN REMOVING ANGRY MAMA FROM MICROWAVE. USE THE TWO SIDE WINGS TO REMOVE.

Product Review: Silk’N Flash & Go Express

I’m sure most women have had a time where they thought about going for permanent hair removal for their underarms, legs or maybe some other parts of their bodies as well, I know I have.  That’s why when Influenster sent a survey about hair removal I was all for trying out whatever they would send me.

I was chosen for the Silk’N Flash & Go Express Vox Box which contained the Hair Removal system to try out. After reading the instructions a few times, I was nervous to try it. I decided I would start with my under arms and move on to my legs depending on how things went.  I took a couple of weeks to build up the nerve and the finally made sure that my underarms were clean and shaved and decided to give it a go.  You do have to wait a couple weeks based on the instructions in between the first few treatments, so I have only done about 3 – but now that I know how it works things go much quicker because I am not standing there flinching thinking it may hurt.  (I did feel a sensation the first couple of times, but it was nothing major at all and I haven’t felt it on the later treatments)

I have noticed that the underarm hair is taking a bit longer to grow in than usual.  Eventually, it should stop growing back all together! I can’t wait for that.

Product Review: Medium Sized Luggage Organizer #packingcubes

It’s no secret that I travel a decent amount.  And with checking luggage usually running about $50 extra per trip, I try to travel with carry-ons only as often as I can.  With my next trip happening next week, I have been trying to see if I can manage to fit a weeks worth of clothes into just a backpack.  The jury is still out as my bed is now a mess of clothes and packing cubes, but I have added a new medium sized cube to my collection.

Previously I had tried large cubes – but they ended up taking up almost all of my carry on space for just one of them. (They work great if I am checking luggage though!) I have also tried slim cubes which I did like and a small cube as well.  But the medium seems to be the perfect size and I’m kind of bummed I will only have one for this trip – but I will make it work!

The cube is 13.5″ x 9.75″ x 3″.  I can easily fit 2-3 days worth of clothes in it, if not more if I really try.  It also has a strap on it and can be used on its own as an overnight bag or as a caddy to fit all your toiletries in.  It would also work great for a dirty clothes holder once you are unpacked at your location – to keep everything dirty separated from the clean.

These bags can be used to easily organize your stuff – put an outfit or two in each bag and only pull out what you need each day rather than rummaging through everything every morning and making a mess of your clothes.

They come in different colors – this particular Dot&Dot bag is offered in Dark Blue, Green, Gray, Light Blue, Pink, Purple or Red.  Color coordinate so all of yours are the same, use different colors for different days or different colors for different members of the family to help keep things organized!

The bags minimize wrinkles on your clothes so you’ll still be looking good. And they maximize luggage space by holding everything tightly together.  Once the bag is zippered you don’t have to worry about your clothes unfolding or unrolling and taking up extra space like they might without the cubes.

Product Review: SlapKoolers

SlapKoolers are pretty awesome. They are a combination of the Slap Bracelets you knew and loved (or maybe dreaded) if you are an 80s/early 90s kid like me as well as a neoprene beverage insulator.   The SlapKooler has 2 bracelets in side it so that it can grip your bottle or can of soda – or your wrist, if you want. (I had no soda around and couldn’t resist using it as a slap bracelet! These were actually banned from my school in first grade because they made all the kids crazy and a little bit violent! But boy are they fun!)  The neoprene is insulated to keep your drink cool and your hand not! The edges are rounded and you can use it as a marketing product by having SlapKoolers help you come up with a custom design for your business!  The “Hello My Name Is” also works great for parties – write your guests names on them and everyone will know whose beverage belongs to whom!

Product Review: ORICO Power Bank

The 10400mAH Power Bank from ORICO is a great stocking stuffer for that tech-addict in your life.  It comes with Qualcomm Quick Charge TM 2.0 Technology which will charge compatible devices up to 75% faster than a standard charger.  I found that this charger will charge my phone 3-4 times before it needs to be recharged itself, which is great if I will be out an out about and don’t want to be against a wall with an outlet!  It is small enough to fit in my purse and carry with me – the only down side is that it is a bit on the heavy side.  It’s probably not something I’d keep in my back for a “just in case” but rather only grab it when I know I am going to a concert or a  game and will be gone the majority of the day with no other options.

The charger has 4 lights on it which shows when it is at 25/50/75/100% capacity.  I found that each time I fully charge my phone I lose just over 1 dot from the display. I was also able to charge up 20% of the phone in less than 30 minutes while still using the phone. Of course, it’s even faster if I don’t use the phone while charging.  The charger does get a bit warm when in use.  Not to the point that I wouldn’t put it in my pocket, but it is something to keep in mind when using it.

Product Review: Handmade 4×6 Notebook

Since I like to think of myself as a writer, I like to always have a notebook handy.  Whether it be to jot down notes for a NaNoWriMo idea, write out a setlist at a concert, take notes for an upcoming blog review, it’s best to be prepared.

I recently received a hand made notebook that has 60 pages to try out and review. I was able to pick any cover I wanted, so I went with the Statue of Liberty because she’s cool.  The notebooks are high quality, 100% brand new, stylish with a durable cover with soft Low-Eye strain paper inside.  The pages are 5.8 x 4.1 inches. It can be used as a notebook, diary, sketchbook, or all of the above! Paper is unlined, soft and high quality.

I love that I can easily fit this notebook in my purse or even my pocket and it has a decent amount of pages. Not to mention, the front cover is so cute.  I also like the idea of low-eye strain paper.  With all the looking at my digital devices I do, it’s nice to have something that won’t totally be killing my eyes when I am using it!

Product Review: FujiFilm Instax Photo Album

Once again, Hellohelio has come up with a great accessory for my Instax Photos.  This time we have a Vintage Book Style Photo Album which I received at a discount in order to  review.  The album can hold up to 60 photos, and displays 3 photos per page.  In addition to the photos there is also a memo writing area so you can either choose to keep this book for yourself and document all your fun photos or put something together for weddings, engagements, graduations, guestbooks, baby photos, etc, the possibilities are endless! 

The other thing that I like about this book is that in addition to using it as an album, you can also use it as a bit of a display frame. If you take the latch to close the book and hook it backwards, you are able to prop the book up and display the photos on that page. (See second photo) Since there are so many page in the book, you can spice things up and change the page daily if you’d like to make things a little bit different as a display each day!

Book is very sturdy and I can’t wait to fill it with more photos from my Instax Camera and SP-1 Instax Printer!
