Mixbook Softcover Photo Book

My Dad loves taking photos when he goes away on vacation, but most of the time the photos never end up being printed.  He’ll hook his camera up to the TV to show us the photos when he gets back, transfer them on to his computer and then that is it.

I like to try and do fun things with his photos for holidays, in the past I have taken some of his photos and made him a calendar for him to hang up near his desk at work.

For Father’s Day this year, I decided to make him a Photobook from Mixbook.com.  I didn’t have the time to make a full fledged scrapbook from scratch – and digital scrapbooking is definitely the next best thing! Especially when you have a website that does almost all the work for you! 😉

When he was at work, I logged into my Mixbook account and uploaded his vacation photos in to my account so that I could make the book without him knowing about it. I took photos from his trips to Seattle, Las Vegas, Delaware and New York City to see the Knicks.  I tried to include a variety of photos, though some of the trips he did not take many pictures.

I used MixBook’s Father’s Day themed book and was able to add in the pictures and modify the pages to work with what I was trying to accomplish.  I created a nice 21 paged 8 x 6 digital scrapbook for him, in essentially no time! Mixbook had a TON of themed books to choose from, each book having several different types of layouts and “stickers” that you could add to each page.  I am such a sucker for stickers, I loved that they had this feature for their digital scrapbooks!

I ordered the book on May 23rd and it arrived by May 28th! I was incredibly impressed with the shipping time and the book looks AWESOME.  Fortunately, my Dad doesn’t read my blog (at least, not that I know of!) so I have been able to post a few photos of the pages without completely ruining the surprise for him.

Be sure to check out Mixbook.com to see all they have to offer.  You can also ‘Like’ Mixbook on Facebook and Follow Mixbook on Twitter!

Mixbook is offering a 20% off coupon to my readers on their next Mixbook purchase.  Simply use the code “TOMOSON20” during check out.  The code does not expire but will only work once per person.

Black & White Letter Images

I was recently sent an incredible amount (250+) of black & white letters from photographer Jodi Gerber of Artistic Letters.  For the past 3 years she has been compiling these letters – all by taking photos of objects in nature that resembled letters of the alphabet.

The combinations you can make of even the same word over and over seem to be endless with all the variations of letters!  So far I have done 2 projects with the letters, but I definitely have ideas for many, many more projects!

My first project was a scrapbook page for when I met Tom Felton.  Tom plays Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter series so I decided to print out letters to spell out “Felton” and “Malfoy” to border the top and bottom of the page.  As you can see, while both names have some of the same letters in them – I was able to choose a different photo to represent each letter (and still had several others that I did not choose available to me)

My second project was wall art.  For now, I have just printed out the letters and stuck them on my bedroom wall, but I do plan on framing them.  I am just not sure if I should do an individual frame for each letter, or perhaps two long frames with a custom mat separating each of the letters, or something else.  I opted to print the letters out at approximately 3×5, but the images are large enough that I could have gone up to at least 8×10 without having any loss of quality.

Jodi has decided to offer her ENTIRE catalog of 250+ letter images to the public on CD or Download so that anyone can create their own design.  I used the letters for a scrapbook layout and for wall art but you could also use them for greeting cards, wedding invitations, baby’s birth and anything else that you can possibly think of that would require letters!

Jodi teamed up with ConcertKatie and is offering readers Exclusive Discounted Pricing of up to $6 Off!  Please visit her website www.BuyAlphabetPhotos.com and browse the images, testimonials, and ideas.

Newtons Fruit Thins

I was recently sent a package of Blueberry Brown Sugar Fruit Newton Thins to try out.  At first, I wasn’t quite sure what the expect – would they be like the Fig Newtons I was used to with the fruit filling? Or something different?

The answer was something different.  While I do enjoy Fig Newtons, I have to say that I really loved the Newton Fruit Thins.  The serving size is 3 cookies – which is plenty for a snack and they only have a total of 140 calories! I can’t say that about many other cookies.

The rest of the family enjoyed the cookies as well – my Mom said that she thinks the brown sugar cookie would be great on its own – even without the blueberries!

For more than a century, Newtons has been one unique cookie – wholesome goodness made with real fruit and a taste all its own.  Now, with the creation of Newtons Fruit Thins, Nabisco is breaking the mold again with a cookie unlike any other withreal fruit in unexpected combinations packed into a thin andcrispy cookie.

The four delicious varieties include

  • Cranberry Citrus Oat
  • Blueberry Brown Sugar
  • Chocolate Raspberry
  • Fig & Honey

And because Newtons Fruit Thins are made with real fruit and 8 grams of whole grain per serving you can feel great knowing you’re having a deliciously wholesome snack.

Nutritional Information

Serving Size – 3 cookies
140 Calories
5 grams total fat
1-1.5 grams saturated fat

To find out more about Newtons, be sure to check out their website http://www.nabiscoworld.com/newtons/

I was sent a free box of cookies from Newton Fruit Thins and One2OneNetwork.  By posting this review, I will be eligible to win one of ten VISA giftcards.  I was not otherwise compensated and all opinions are my own.

GroOrganic.com Review

For the past month or so, I have been poking around on www.groorganic.com and using their Garden Planner.  The site is a lot of fun, and helps you map out your garden.  It also provides tips based on your location for when frost periods will be and when it is the right time to plant in your garden.  Once you create your garden plan, you can click and add whatever items you might be adding to your garden such as trees, arugula, beans, carrots and pretty much anything else you might ever imagine wanting to plant!  You can easily choose the letter of the alphabet the item you want to plant starts with, browse what is listed and then click it and click on the grid where you’d like to plant it.  It shows how much space it needs within the garden so you can space everything out efficiently to utilize all the space you have in your garden no matter how large or small it might be.
GroOrganic, ainnovative company, will provide ‘full service’ vegetable gardening for people with little time or experience.  groOrganic can supply complete raised bed vegetable gardens installed and maintained by professionals or will consult with a client who just needs a little advice.
groOrganic offers the most up to date gardening design and maintenance software technology.  Our Garden Planner:
  • Makes it easy to draw out your vegetable beds, add plants and move them around to get the perfect layout. Either feet and inches or metric units are supported and any shape of garden can be created.
  • Adapts to suit your gardening style whether you use traditional row planting, raised beds or Square Foot Gardening.
  • Adapts to your own area using our database of over 5000 weather stations.
  • Prints your own personalized planting chart showing how many of each plant you require and when to sow, plant and harvest them.
  • Sends email reminders twice a month of what needs planting from your garden plans.
If you are a gardener, or maybe have never gardened before but are looking to star you own garden, be sure to check out:   http://gardenplanner.groorganic.com/
Although started in California, groOrganic is franchising the concept across the US with great success, enabling rapid growth.  “HERE WE gro AGAIN!”

Freschetta Simply Inspired Giveaway!

This post brought to you by FRESCHETTA®. All opinions are 100% mine.
Recently I had the chance to try FRESCHETTA® Simply…Inspired™ pizza.  I will admit that I am not the world’s biggest pizza fan (though the rest of my family is), but I loved this pizza! There are 8 great and distinctive flavors available – we chose the Hawaiian Style pizza. (Our local grocery store only had 3 of the 8 flavors available)
The pizza came in FRESCH-TASTE SEAL ™ packaging, which locks in all the great flavors while at the same time using 30% packaging material!  Instead of the typical cardboard box.  It took about 15 minutes to cook and it made the kitchen smell great! (I think it was the sweet bbq sauce mixed with the pineapple!)  After it cooled, we dug right in.  The flavors were all very good – it tasted as good as it smelled, if not better! I think that I have just been eating the wrong pizza all this time and that is why I don’t like it!

Own a Piece of New York!

I am always looking for unique items to accessorise with, especially necklaces, for when I go to concerts. Baileybe’s Etsy shop offers a great item – a piece of New York in the palm of your hand!

BAILEYBE is now creating one of kind souvenirs from the Big Apple. Necklaces that literally contain a piece of New York – subway Metro Cards, street vendor coffee cups, central park dirt and more! No two necklaces are alike! Custom city ingredients available upon request (even from Brooklyn)!

My necklace contains authentic NYC dirt, authentic NYC metro card and authentic NYC coffee cup! I know that this will be a great conversation starter the next time I am waiting in line to get in to a show! (Trust me – everything you are wearing comes up as a topic of conversation when trying to pass the time in line – and an item as unique as this is sure to be talked about!)

The small bottle of NYC goodies came with a black cord to wear it around my neck.  The stopper on the top of the bottle is also in there VERY tightly – I am not afraid of it popping off at all when I wear it.  I (heart) NY and I am so excited that I will get to have a little piece of it with me wherever I go, as long as I am wearing this necklace.

Be sure to check out Baileybe’s Etsy page for your own piece of New York and other great jewelry items as well! At only $8(+shipping) this item is a great deal!

I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review. I was not compensated in any way, nor was I asked to write a positive review about this item. All thoughts are completely mine!

TshirtPrinting.net Shirt Review!

Recently I was sent a  t-shirt from TshirtPrinting.net to review.  I was advised to order a size smaller than normal because they run big.  I opted to go with Large which is what I usually get in my unisex t-shirts.  When it first arrived I was swimming in it, but now that it has been washed it shrunk a bit and fits a bit closer to a large (though still a bit on the baggy side, but that is how I like it)

TshirtPrinting.net‘s business is printing custom shirts for their customers, so they sent me a shirt with their mascot on it so I could evaluate it.  Their mascot is a monkey, which is one of my favorite animals.  The colors are very vibrant – pink, yellow and blue.  The printing was not heavy like other printed shirts I have gotten in the past.  It also held up in the wash and did not crack or fade.  (I washed it inside out, which is something I was advised to do a long time ago to keep my band shirts looking good as new.)

TshirtPrinting.net is located in the UK, but their shipping was very prompt to me in the USA. I would definitely recommend them if you are looking for comfortable, high quality printed t-shirts!

(Flash washed out the print a bit)

CD Review: Yanni Truth Of Touch

Truth of Touch is Yanni’s first instrumental release of original compositions in over eight years! Yanni is currently on tour supporting this release, so be sure to check out his website, http://www.yanni.com/tour/ , to see when he will be coming to a city near you!

The album is now in stores and I was given a free copy to review for all my readers at Concert Katie!  It contains 15 tracks.  Yanni is not an artist that I have listened to in the past, so I can not compare this album to any of his past releases. However, I really enjoy this new album.  The sound is refreshing and soothing, and it was not a distraction when I had it on in the background while trying to get work done. In fact, it seemed to even motivate me to get more done!

Each track has a unique sound, yet they all fit together well as an album.  Some of the songs do have vocals/lyrics (Can’t Wait, O Luce Che Brilla Nell’Oscurita, Secret) but still fit right in with the great instrumentals of the rest of the album.  Overall I would give this album 4.5 stars out of 5 and definitely would recommend that you check it out.

Track List:
1. Truth of Touch
2. Echo of a Dream
3. Seasons
4. Voyage
5. Flash of Color
6. Vertigo
7. Nine
8. Can’t Wait
9. Guilty Pleasure
10. O Luce Che Brilla Nell’Oschurita
11. I’m So
12. Long Way Home
13. Yanni & Arturo
14. Mist of a Kiss
15. Secret

I received a copy of “Truth of Touch” for free to review from One2One Network, I was not otherwise compensated. All opinions expressed are my own.
