Book Review: I Hate Picture Books

I Hate Picture Book is a hilarious book about a boy named Max who has had it with his picture books.  I found it to be so funny because most of the books he is talking about are books I grew up with – Green Eggs and Ham, Where The Wild Things Are, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, etc.  He is realizing that all the things in his picture books are not real and that these things don’t really happen.  His room won’t turn into a forest, he shouldn’t write on the wall in crayon, pidgeons can’t drive a bus and most importantly – you should never eat green ham in real life.

But the more he thinks about the books he realizes what they really mean to him and that he actually does love picture books.

This was a really great book and although it was geared towards early readers, I think their parents will get a kick out of it too – because I know I did.  I recognized almost all the books and I didn’t think that kids still read all those.  I guess they are classics!

I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review. I was not otherwise compensated.

Product Review & Giveaway: BuildASign.com

I’ve been in the market for some new business cards. The first set I got were before I moved from blogger to wordpress, so I had to white out the URL and then write in the new one and it was getting to the point where that just didn’t look professional and if I wanted people who I gave the cards to to actually come check out my blog, I needed something better. Build a Sign contacted me and told me about their business card maker and asked if I wanted to check it out. Of course I said yes and almost immediately found the PERFECT design for my cards. I made it a bit more personalized with my “logo” and had the card designed in no time. Super easy and it looked GREAT.

Build a Sign is a great site – in addition to the business card marker they also have available a banner maker, and  sign maker as well as some other great products as well, so be sure to check it out because I am giving away your choice of $25 to the site or an 8×10 canvas print at the end of this post!!

The cards came within a couple of weeks of me ordering them and look absolutely great! I can’t wait to start handing them out.
