Recap:

Before the show we stole a giant Christina banner off of one of the fences. Somehow I folded it up super tiny and it was on my wall for quite some time.  (I still have it too)  I can’t remember much about the first opening act, Sygnature.  I did love soulDecision (still do) and we walked by when their lead singer was getting in to a car after the show.  Destiny’s Child was pretty good from what I remember and Christina had a great set.

Where Are They Now:

Sygnature has no wikipedia page, surprise, surprise.

soulDecision disbanded in 2005 after releasing an additional CD and lead singer Trevor has gone solo

Destiny’s Child has disbanded with Beyonce heading off into a successful solo career

Christina Aguilera has been a coach on The Voice for several seasons and is going to be having her 2nd child soon.

Throwback Thursday – All That Music And More 2000

Headliner:  Festival Show
Opener(s):  Nick Cannon, Sister 2 Sister, Angela Via, BWitched, No Authority, LFO
Cost: $40
Setlist:

No setlist available

Recap: My mom and I went to this show – I really only cared about LFO although I did always think Danny from No Authority was cute and BWitched had that one catchy song.  I joke about this show every now and then because we had the chance to either meet No Authority or Nick Cannon and Kenan Thompson and we chose to meet neither.  Now Nick and Kenan are pretty much the only ones still doing things!  I really remember nothing of Sister2Sister or Angela Via.

Where Are They Now:

Nick Canon now pretty much owns Teen Nick, is married to Mariah Carey and hosts America’s Got Talent

According to Wikepedia – Sister2Sister are still active and have also been on TV.  They’ve also launched a school of singing in Australia. (Assuming that this is the same girls.)

Wikipedia is telling me that Angela Via is still active as well but seems to have gone into more Latin Pop and Reggaeton since I saw her as a Pop act back in 2000.

BWitched went their separate ways after being dropped by their label in 2002 and one of the girls leaving the group. In 2012, they reunited for The Big Reunion documentary series. They are now back together and did an arena tour in the UK last year.

And I think I’ve already written about No Authority and LFO 🙁 so no need to bring that up again!

Recap:

I think I remember more about trying to get these tickets than the actual show LOL  Me and 2 of my brother’s friends Moms went to “camp out” for tickets at the mall. (This was before ticketmaster.com was a thing)  They gave out numbers and then called a number and that was the first person to buy tickets and then everything went in number order from there (so getting there the earliest didn’t really mean anything)  Except that the shows sold out in like 2 seconds.  They added a couple more shows – but we ultimately went home empty handed.  MEANWHILE – my Dad was at home trying on the phone and was instructed to get us 8 tickets if he could get through.  He did – but the phone was having a glitch and was not giving out confirmation numbers.  So I got home and he was like “I GOT THEM!” (no cell phones lol) and I had heard other people in line talking about no confirmation number meaning you wouldn’t get them so I was like “did you get a confirmation number?” and he was like “No…”  But then one night a little bit later Ticketmaster called and said the order was pending but since we didn’t get a confirmation number – did we want the tickets still?  At that point we bought tickets for DC instead but we ended up getting the MSG tickets too.  This was I believe the night before they recorded it for HBO so they were doing a run through of it with the cameras and all that.  This was also my first time on a Subway and I didn’t realize it just took off before you got a seat so I went flying and ended up being caught by some old guy lol (I am now a Subway pro and can even ride it standing)

Where Are They Now:

Pink is now a HUGE star. I did not like her at all back in 2000 though.

Ron has apparently still been doing music and had shows around Florida last year according to his reverbnation page!

Innosense is no longer together… and yeah.

Recap:

I know before this show it was raining and then I was super excited when Joey mentioned the fact that it was raining during the show. I think it was also this show when I decided it would be a super good idea to scream through Joey’s entire solo in “I Thought She Knew” (it wasn’t…)  We also got yelled at leaving – even though I was trying to get down the stairs with the help of my mom and her friend.  The stairs were TINY and had no railings so my mom yelled back at the guy that maybe if they had some railings I’d have been down the stairs already.   We were also SUPER high up and it was this tour where we learned the lesson to stop trying to get 8 tickets at once. (Which ended up in me being booted from “the group” on future tour trips)

Where Are They Now:

Pink is now a HUGE star. I did not like her at all back in 2000 though.

Ron has apparently still been doing music and had shows around Florida last year according to his reverbnation page!

Recap:

We got to this show late and I remember the cop telling my friend’s mom that “she’s never going to make it” when he told us we couldn’t park close and she asked to get closer because I was disabled.  Funny how that completely unneeded comment still sticks out in my mind, 14 years later.  Well, guess what dude, I did end up making it to the venue without a problem.  We did miss part of No Authority but made it to the back of the lawn by the time BBMak hit the stage – who was one of my favorites back in 2000!  I remember more about the people around us for this show – peeing on a tree in the corner of the lawn – than I do about the actual show.  We had to watch most of it on the screen.  I think it was after this show I had sworn off lawn for any future shows.

Where Are They Now:

BBMak broke up in 2003.

No Authority doesn’t seem to have a wikipedia page. But I think it’s safe to say they broke up as well.

Innosense broke up in 2003.

Britney Spears currently has a residency at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas

Throwback Thursday – Bash At the Base 2000

Setlist:

Recap:

We got to this show pretty early and were right up front on the rail.  It was the beginning of summer and I put on no sunscreen and ended up getting the worst sunburn of my life. No joke. I burned so bad that I ended up having blisters all over my chest and it was the most uncomfortable situation to be in, ever. (Though did I learn my lesson to always put on sunscreen? Nope.)  I enjoyed both BBMak and Westlife’s sets (they were boybands, how could I not?) but it was this show where I grew to hate Train. By the time they took the stage I was so miserable that I wanted nothing more than for Hanson to come on and Train’s set seemed to be going on FOR-EV-ER.  They finally got off the stage and Hanson came out and did their 4 songs.  Because of my burn, we left right after even though there were 1 or 2 more acts left to go.

Where Are They Now:

BBMak released a second album in 2002 and broke up in 2003. All 3 band members have gone their separate ways either joining new bands or trying it as a solo artist.

Westlife disbanded in 2012

Train is still going strong and still has singles on Top 40 radio. I’ve seen them several more times and have been miserable the whole time every time.

Hanson… well if you don’t know where they are now you don’t pay much attention to my blog posts 😉

Recap:

I’m actually reading my old review from just after the show to refresh my memory. I’m not quite brave enough to post THAT review haha but there were 2nd stages and apparently Michael Africk and INOJ played on the side stage. I do not have any recollection of this whatsoever, nor do I know who they are so they must have gone quite far… The Rosie O’Donnell show was also a big deal back in 1999 and she had a kid named Colin on a lot.  I thought I saw him outside before the show and my mom told me it wasn’t him – and then he ended up on stage later and it was him.  I was not at all interested in the opening acts (I guess some things will never change) until Jordan Knight performed. We were on the lawn so we didn’t have all that great of a view and after the show we went by where the buses were leaving and I am pretty sure Chris looked out the window at us. (In fact years later I am still pretty sure that was Chris.)

Where Are They Now:

3rd Storee-  They released a 2nd album in 2002 but didn’t seem to do much after that.

Sugar Hill Gang – According to Wikipedia, they were no longer active after 2007.

Jordan Knight – reunited with NKOTB in 2008, working on a solo effort Nick and Knight with Nick Carter of the backstreet boys

NSYNC – on indefinite hiatus, though briefly reunited last summer for the VMAs.

Throwback Thursday

I’m not sure why, but from my first concert I decided it would be a good idea to keep track of the setlist.  I then continued to do this for most shows I went to (and now do it for almost every one)  Here’s the sign I wrote the setlist down on… super messy lol

setlist

Throwback Thursday

AT

While Hanson was my first concert – Admiral Twin was the first band I had ever seen live.  While we were waiting to get backstage to meet Hanson (!!) they were waiting to hit the stage and were telling us to have fun.  When we got out of the M&G they were already on stage and to be honest, I really have no recollection of their performance other than being mad that it was dark and we had to navigate our way back to our seats while they were performing!

Admiral Twin is a local Tulsa band and friends of Hanson (one of the band members penned Hanson’s official book).  It appears they are now a trio, though I do remember there being 4 members back in 1998.

They are still performing live around Tulsa and their website boasts that since 1998 they have performed for well over 500,000 concert goers. (I am sure that Hanson’s Albertane Tour helped boost those numbers a little bit!)
