Pop2000 Tour at Foxwoods

Friday night, the Pop2000 tour made its return to the Great Cedar Showroom at Foxwoods. The line up was Ryan Cabrera, BBMak, O-Town with LFO and Chris Kirkpatrick. When we arrived we tried our hand at the slot machines, I found a cute Casper the friendly ghost machine and within my first couple spins I was into a free spin bonus round and won $20.26. I ended up continuing to play, got a $5 win from the ghostly trio (who had to say “ohhh look who finally won something” after I picked my ghost) and then got the crap scared out of me when Casper popped up to say hi. In the end I played back down to the $20 I had started with only to find out there was a system outage and you couldn’t put a ticket from one machine into another and you couldn’t cash in your tickets in the redemption machines, you’d have to go to the cashier.

This was the first night of a newer iteration of the Pop200s tour and they “have a DJ” which was just Ryan Cabrera’s drummer, Tommy Carlucci. Ryan was up first and he did end up adding a new song to his set, but for the most part he does a lot of the same ol’, same ol’ and I feel like he has a long more quai-singles that he could swap out… I guess after seeing him 13 times I’m looking for something new.

BBMak was up next and although their setlist was basically the same as usual I was ok with it. Although they did have one MAJOR change to their set – THIS I PROMISE YOU WITH CHRIS!

Then it was time for O-Town! Some of the upgrades to the set was that the video screen behind them had a lot of throw back Windows 95-esque computer screens and folders opening to introduce each of the acts. There were some parts that had computer code scrolling by (it looked like maybe JavaScript and HTML) and I kept trying to figure out what it was, I’m hoping maybe I captured some of it in photos so I can take a closer look to see what it was.

The set had 2 chunks of O-Town around the LFO set. The set started with Chasin’ After You, they did a bit of Soldier Boy and danced, then did Girl and talked about how they used to perform it and talk about how to get a girl and went into the O’Jays For the Love of Money and Kanye’s Gold Digger and then into their medley of Uptown Funk / Hot in Herre / Rock Your Body.

The LFO set was the same 5 songs – I think this should be trimmed down to Girl on TV and Summer Girls if not cut entirely – I’m over Brad.

Then it was time for the re-recorded We Fit Together, which I am not entirely sure why they redid it because there was nothing wrong with the old version? Jacob also mentioned that they had recorded a brand new song but “the guys wussed out” and didn’t want to play it. Trevor noted “you’re one of the the guys” to which Jacob replied that he was out voted and that does happen.

The new addition to the *NSYNC set was Girlfriend – during which some of the O-Town guys jumped into the crowd, which led to Dan coming up to our section, spotting the empty seat next to me and jumping on it, having his shoe touching me for most of the time. It was awkward and it was fun and it was not at all anything that I was expecting to happen.

After the show we got to meet Chris briefly and get photos before heading through the winding roads back home. Fortunately we missed the rainy weather but it was a late night, not getting home until nearly 1:30am. While we may have spent the night back celebrating the late 90s and early 00s, our bodies were still firmly still in 2026.
