David Wright Public Signing

On July 13th I kicked off my birthday week by heading to Long Island to meet David Wright! The group at Coach’s Collectibles was absolutely wonderful – when you entered you went to a table with your ID and got your ticket(s), I was then told where the elevator was and allowed to go up early to be first in line for the photos.  While we were waiting, Mr and Mrs Met came by to say hello to everyone. Once it was time for photos, those with mobility issues were let in first to give them any extra time needed.  David was as wonderful as ever, saying “Hi nice to meet you I’m David”, as if we didn’t know!  After we picked up our photo, we were able to purchase digital copies of all the photos taken for $20 from the photographer and get an 8×10 holder included.  The Coach’s Collectibles team then had us sit in an area to wait for the signing which we would also be first to go through the line.  Everyone else with photos and autographs lined back up so they would be “VIP” ahead of those who had only purchased autographs.  I had written David a letter about how he made me a baseball fan and also gave me something big to share with my Dad for the last 10 years or so of his life because I knew if I tried to tell him, I’d cry.  I handed it to him and told him as much and he was told he could put the letter off to the side but he said no, folded it up and put it in his pocket saying, “I promise I will read it.”  After that he signed my Captain America Funko Pop and my time with him was over.

I was supposed to go to another concert that evening, but was far too wiped out to make it. Sorry Sugar Ray, I’ll catch you another time!
