Try It Tuesday: Metal Etching
Over the summer I bought myself the Silhouette Curio and Mint. So far the mint is still in the box and the Curio I have used for only one project – so far. As always, there’s a ton of ideas swirling in my head, I just have no time. My first project was metal etching and I made a piece for my cousin’s wedding. For my first attempt I think it came out pretty great, although I learned a few things that I will definitely take into consideration before my next attempt.
Try It Tuesday: Emboss Folder
I was inspired to try and make my own embossing folder. I have bought several (and really need to use them more) but of course needed a custom Hanson one for all my concert scrapbooking! I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out thin plastic several times. I actually cut out 6 of each piece I needed and then glued them together adding more if I needed it. In the end I think this is 4 of the 6 pieces and a piece of a cereal box to make the folder.
Try It Tuesday: Stencil #2
This project actually started out as something different in my head and I’m not sure that I could have planned it to go better than it did. My plan was to create a Hanson symbol out of stencil/thin plastic material and then use my spray inks to make a sort of tie dye / splash red and blue color scheme for the Alive @ Five concert page I was putting together. I decided the spray ink would make too much of a mess inside and was too lazy to bring the supplies outside so instead I used ink. I made the green one first for the Hop Jam (although I’m not sure it actually ended being used for photos from the Hop Jam!) and then the red and blue one for Alive @ Five. Although it came out so cool I almost just wanted to hang it on my wall and not use it as a scrapbook page at all! This actually made me think of a couple of other projects to do related to this stencil so we will see what happens with that – will it work out and become a future blog post?

With Hanson’s Hop Jam becoming an annual event and the logo of it not seeming to change, I decided that instead of getting super annoyed with cutting it out of paper and needing to piece it back together again (I hate puzzles) I would try my hand at making a stencil of it. That way I could cut it once and then use it for every year or even every page if I wanted to! I did have a bit of an issue with it coming up when I was stamping the ink down but for my first stencil attempt.

Isaac’s solo show. It wasn’t the first of the solo shows but I tend to sort things in their age order so he’s up first. Included on these pages are some stamped tapes that I used embossing powder on. Using more stamps on my layouts was part of my crafty to-do list for the year.
