John Mayer at the Comcast Theater August 16

Mayer is Back!!! For those of you not in the know – John had to take some time off because he had a granuloma on his vocal chord that needed to be dealt with.  When he thought that he was ready to come back he scheduled a tour (to which I had tickets for 2 dates) and then had to cancel it because he was still having trouble and had to have more surgery.  There were no guarantees that he would come back from the surgery so the fact that he has been doing this tour and has a new album coming out on the 20th is amazing news.

I was beyond excited for this show. I had been looking forward to it for months.  But I tried not to hype it up too much because there was always a chance that he wasn’t going to be the same.  I had checked out some setlists and picked out some songs that I was hoping I’d hear based on what he seemed to be playing (a good mix though, it seemed) and he did do just about all that I was hoping for. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Opening for the evening was American Idol winner Phillip Phillips. Now, normally I am beyond excited to see Idol contestants but I am *so over* Phillip Phillips.  I’m glad he’s doing well but his songs are just so, so overplayed.  His first song – I don’t know what it was, but it surely sounded like Dave Matthews to me.  Then he did Gone second which I guess was cool.  Get it out of the way early.  When I was just about to tweet that I was still over him, he did a pretty cool cover of Michael Jackson’s Thriller.  He ended the set with what seemed like a 10 minute rendition of Home. I loooved that song so much at first. Then Top 40 radio got their hands on it.  Overall he seemed to have small pockets of the crowd incredibly entertained and dancing and like other Idol winners in the past, he has cornered the cougar market quite well for himself.

Then it was FINALLY time for John!  Behind the band were these HUGE rocks.  The sheet covering them was getting all hung up on it when the roadies were trying to take it off.  John kicked off the evening with Queen of California – and he was back!  He sounded just about the same to me and of course there was no difference in his playing.  He went into a cover of Lay Down Sally next and then Paper Doll – which was followed up by Half of My Heart which I thought was interesting since he did Half of My Heart with Taylor Swift and Paper Doll is supposedly about her.  Was that some sort of secret clue? Or am I reading too far into things? ha.

There was a definite mixture throughout the rest of the show and at times he completely seemed to lose EVERYONE.  Usually I am the only one sitting to take a break but 3-4 times throughout the night I sat and then everyone in front of me did too and I could still see perfectly from my seat.  Great for me, kind of weird for John I guess though.  I got super excited about 2 notes in when I realized he was playing Vultures.  He followed that up with an acoustic set where everything was black behind him and he did Tom Petty’s Free Fallin’.  Then he said he’d do songs from signs and did 83 (or I think he said he’d do as much of it as he could, which was the majority of the song) and then he went in to Your Body is a Wonderland! I know he doesn’t do this one all the time but obviously I was very much looking forward to that one.

After they came back – it looked like the rocks were gone.  I asked my friend and she said no they were real but I thought they now looked fake. Then they zoomed out on the screen so I guess they snuck the rocks out while we weren’t paying attention during the acoustic set.  Waiting on the Day was a new song that he did based on a sign that a kid a couple rows in front of me was holding up.  The kid was super, super excited about that.  During Goin’ Down the Road Feeling Bad I got excited because “my car” was in the video montage of the highway for a couple of seconds!

For the encore he came back and did Gravity – which was another that I absolutely wanted to hear.  He ended up playing I think roughly 9:15 to 11:45. I obviously could have stayed there all night, but you know he has a whole rest of the tour to do 😉  At the end they had “credits” for the production which was pretty neat with who did what for the tour.

Then the lights came on and another exciting night had come and gone.  The only thing I will say I miss was that he seemed to cut back a bit on his joking/banter.  When he did talk, it was a lot of thank you for sticking around which was to be expected. And to be honest I didn’t even realize that it was “missing” until we listened to the recording of the show that we went to in 2010 and started comparing.  I’m not holding it against him at all but I figured it was worth noting.

Also worth noting – if you come to a concert and are proclaiming yourself “a huge John Mayer fan” PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not talk throughout his whole set defending WHY you are a huge fan and what CDs of his you have and what songs you want him to play.  This conversation is much better left for in between the opener and John or on the ride to the show or before the show even started or hell, even on the way home you can discuss what you wanted to hear and didn’t.  But not during John and so loudly that it is all the people around you will hear.  I understand you also called yourself a huge douchebag – but you didn’t also need to prove WHY.  We get that you’re a John fan because if not, well, you probably wouldn’t be at the show. So hush up and take it all in.

Mixtape Festival Day 2

After the broomball game we hung out in the car for a bit and heard some of the Jonas Brothers soundcheck.  We then went to Chocolate World to kill time before night 2.  We knew that it was predicted to rain, so we grabbed our rain coats and headed in to the stadium.

MKTO kicked off the show.

Emblem 3 was up next.  About 2 songs into their set they told us that lightning was in the forecast and that we had to go under the stands for our safety while it passed.

We were underneath for about an hour and it was ridiculous because there was no room for people to move yet everyone was trying to get somewhere else.  I was also told I was too young to know Boyz II Men songs. LOL, I’ll take it. (Turns out I was older than the people who said that to me.)

Emblem 3 continued their set at 7:15 and the show just went on from there – but it was still raining. We were all SOAKED.

Boyz II Men came out next and I think they did a bit of a modified set compared to what they did on The Package Tour (we figured if everyone cut a song or two from their sets, everything could kind of stay on schedule)  We spotted Zac Hanson checking them out on the side of the stage in the beginning of the set too and then he went into the gold VIP side stage area to take some pics.

Jonas Brothers played what seemed to be the longest set ever – and I’m a fan. I don’t know, they seemed to just never end and I was soggy and pruney and just wanted to get the show moving.  They sang Thats Just The Way We Roll – Joe didn’t change the lyric from Hanson and I thought for sure they’d come out, but Kevin just pointed off in the back of the stage where I assume at least one of them was watching the set.

TLC’s reunion was next.  They started off with some technical issues with TBoz’s mic but then they seemed to get everything worked out. Before Waterfalls they said that it was a song that meant a lot to Lisa Left Eye Lopes and had us all hold up lighters, cell phones, etc in honor of Lisa.  The stadium lit up and it looked so beautiful!  Most people held them up for the whole song.  They had all of Left Eye’s raps on a track.  It was a bittersweet set because I loved TLC growing up, but never had the chance to see them until now.  They said that they will never replace her but that they wanted to move on and continue to make music and share with everyone.

NKOTB was up next and they also did a more modified set from The Package Tour. It was a ton of fun and during Tonight, Danny and Joe walked right by the ADA seating and we got to shake Joe’s hand!

We were hoping that all the bands would come out on stage again, but that didn’t happen.  And by that point we were freezing and soggy so we just decided to leave.

All in all it was a fun weekend and I hope that Hanson goes back again next year!

Jonas Brothers at Mohegan Sun

Tuesday night the Jonas Brothers brought their first tour in 3 years back to Connecticut to the Arena at Mohegan Sun.  The first opening act was a DJ, Mike Tompkins. I’m not a fan of DJs, but he seemed to get everyone pumped.  Next up was Karmin – who I used to hate but now love.  They did a much longer set than they had done when I saw them at the Christmas shows in December so that was great.  Plus, Amy and Nick had on matching orange outfits and I just love orange.  Then the DJ came back out again but this time instead of just mixing other songs he was going to perform all the music “with his voice” so he did some beat boxing and singing and only one original song.  A few people still seemed into him but at that point I was just ready for the Jonas Brothers to take the stage.

Then the lights went black and everyone was screaming and looking at the back of the arena.  I had no idea why.  Nick took the stage and then I could see Kevin and Joe coming down from the back sections of the arena (why does no one do this when I have seats way back there?)  Joe walked right by my section surrounded by a TON of security guards but girls still tried to grab at him.  Then all 3 took the stage and did their new single “First Time”.  Their new album, V (Five) is coming out in the fall so they did several songs that will be included on that album – which gave me an excuse to sit down every now and then because I didn’t know the songs.  Some of the new songs included Pom Poms (although this one has been released so I did know it), Found, The World, Let’s Go (Karmin joined them for this one! Very high energy) and What Do I Mean To You.  From what I’ve heard, the new album should be pretty great and I’m looking forward to it.

They did That’s Just The Way We Roll and dedicated it to the fans that have stuck with them – and yes, Joe did sing “Battle dance against Hanson” and didn’t change it.  I was worried he might since at Radio City he changed it to One Direction and apparently another night on tour he changed it to The Wanted.  He even came to my side of the stage when he sang it!  (Wondering if this weekend at Mixtape this battle dance will go down.  Hmm)

Each night fans can vote on a song they want to hear and for Uncasville the song of the night was Inseparable.  Of course I couldn’t remember the name of it for the life of me when they were singing it – but I was singing along. (How does that work, anyway?)

They also threw in a couple of Nick Jonas and the Administration songs – Who I Am and Last Time Around (do those count as covers? I’ve seen girls writing them down as being covers but I don’t know if I’d count them since Nick was still performing them? Though Joe did take some verses. I don’t know.) and they also did See No More which was Joe’s solo single.

Other fan favorites were also well represented with Fly With Me, A Little Bit Longer, When You Look Me In The Eyes, Burning Up (with Big Rob via Skype) and for Still In Love With You one lucky fan got to join the guys on stage to perform it via a contest on vine – and she just so happened to be sitting in the row in front of me!

The encore of the show was Love Bug and S.O.S.

After the show it was hard not to be a sweaty mess from all the dancing and jumping (well, I didn’t jump.) that was going on throughout the show.  They had less theatrics and no catwalk with this tour which I liked, it was a bit more focused on them as a band (and their backup band) than “hey look at all the cool stuff this stage can do!” which I think takes away from the show and showing off your talents.

Hunter Hayes at Oakdale

Saturday night, Hunter Hayes headlined a SOLD OUT show at Oakdale.  Funny story about how I got a ticket to this show.  I had seen that Country 925 was doing a presale and in it, I kept pulling up 3rd row.  I debated about it a bit but ultimately did not buy it. (It was also the night One Direction was in Hershey and I was thinking I might go down there to see them so I was torn.)  Then one morning I woke up to a “Thank you for your Purchase” email.  I had apparently used the ticket app on my phone to buy a ticket when I was half asleep one night.  I guess my subconscious REALLY wanted to go.

Cory from Country 925 came out to intro the show a bit and then said to stay tuned for what sounded like “Sarah Hayes” the girl behind me was convinced that she said “Sir Hayes” and that it would be Hunter and then was worried maybe Hunter had a girlfriend.  I guess a girlfriend who took her boyfriend’s last name or maybe they had the same last name to begin with. A girl certainly did come out to open the show and she violated my #1 rule of opening acts.  She never said her name!! She introduced her guitarist and mentioned his name was Ben multiple times through the set but never said her name.  Turns out – she is Sara Haze. (And was not wearing a wedding ring so I guess she is not married to Hunter after all, lol)  You can find out more about her at her website, http://www.sarahaze.com/

At about 8:45, Hunter took the stage.  I have the first release of his debut album, but he mentioned that he re-released it with some new songs as an encore so I was a little bit out of the loop with some of the songs.  But he did a great job at mentioning some of the song titles and I did a great job of guessing the rest – if I do say so myself. (Let’s be honest. I wrote down lyrics and googled them when I got home like I always do)

At one point he asked if it was ok that they jam a little bit – and I knew that they were going into a Justin Timberlake riff and sure enough, Hunter started singing What Goes Around.  Later, he did Wanted (and it wasn’t at the end of the show) and I debated leaving because… that’s why I was there.  I am obsessed with the song and hands down if anyone can write a song for me equal to or better than Wanted I will marry them that second. (seriously.) Fortunately I decided to stick it out because the next song he did was a cover of Maroon 5’s This Love!

Funny Maroon 5 story. I may have mentioned this before but here it goes again because it all came full circle, kind of,  Saturday night. (Though I’ll probably still continue to talk about it so I’m not even going to promise to never bring it up again.)  Back in late 2002, I went to see 2 relative unknowns perform at the same venue Hunter headlined.  John Mayer and Maroon 5 was opening.  Totally fell in love with the lead singer of Maroon 5 during the set. Totally.  After the show, the guy we had gone with comes out of the bathroom and goes “That guy from the opening act you like is in the men’s room – go in and say hi to him!”  We didn’t want to go in the Men’s room so we passed (knowing what I know NOW I’d have at least waited outside to say hi!) and I kick myself for not following through on that opportunity constantly.  Anyway, that men’s room has since been converted into a women’s room and I used it on Saturday (for the first time ever though I think it’s been converted for a while now) and sure enough – Adam Levine was in there – in poster form – advertising the show at the Meadows I can’t go to.  So, anyway, I got a kick out of that… and then when Hunter did This Love – which I believe was the Maroon 5 song that they had John Mayer come out and play on (I’d never seen a headliner join the opener before) it just seemed to be a somewhat full circle moment. (Will totally come full circle for real when I eventually do end up meeting Adam Levine – whether it be in a men’s room or otherwise)

Now that I’ve written more about Maroon 5 than Hunter… I was very surprised that his set went for so long and with very little breaks.  There was a couple of minutes before he came out for the encore but prior to that the kid just goes and goes! And he has so much energy and so many different guitars…

When I was leaving there was a guy behind me talking with his girlfriend (I assume) and he said how he didn’t know what he was getting into at first, but he enjoyed it and was surprised that he played for as long as he did.  Of course the girlfriend was all “What did you think you were going to hate it and he wasn’t going to put on a good show?” and he was like “no.. but…” and I ended up in another position in the crowd so I’m not sure what he ended up saying to that – but I mean, I felt the same way.  I obviously fell in love with him after seeing him open for Carrie Underwood – but did not expect what he did for the full show.

Aaron Carter After Party Tour

Thursday night Aaron Carter brought his “Afterparty Tour” to my favorite venue.  I wasn’t really sure what to expect  because typically at these shows everyone sits and is respectful and I think I’ve stood for like 2 songs there, ever.  I knew with Aaron that there would be standing at least for the whole show but I wasn’t prepared (and I don’t think the venue was either) for the insanity that went on once Aaron took the stage. (But more on that later)  I also noticed that these girls there to see Aaron were not very observant.  When I first arrived I saw Aaron at the front of his van. Later when I got in line the girls behind me asked “I wonder where he is right now!” and her friend said “Probably backstage!” As if on cue, Aaron jumped out of the van shirtless and no one seemed to notice.  In between openers Aaron was peaking out from the curtain from backstage and the girls next to me waved to him but everyone else seemed to be oblivious. He even stuck his whole head out the curtain at one point!

First up was Justin Levinson – I was not a fan.  His music comes across as a temper tantrum. He stomps his feet, he bangs on the keyboard… it was a bit all over the place and all the songs seemed to melt into one.  But he did play a kazoo on his last song so, bonus points for that.

Alexis Babini was the second opening act and I really enjoyed his set! His stage presence seems like he is playing in a huge arena, but I think that just added to his appeal. His set seemed to go over much better with the crowd as well. I was totally in love until he decided to throw in Katy Perry into a medley. Instant turn off! 😉

Brandon Walden was the last to take the stage – he is Aaron’s sound manager and said he was asked to do a couple songs.  He did an Ed Sheeran song as well as an original song (and one other I think as well) and tried to get everyone to do an “Aaron, Aaron” chant as he was leaving the stage.  Which worked for a little bit but set up took so long, it fizzled out fast.

Aaron came out in a tank top with himself on it – from 12 years ago (or more!).  I guess that is one way to promote the merch you are selling.  All the girls started jumping over the seats and made a GA pit in the front row and then girls were standing on chairs and falling all over the place. It was absolutely nuts.  And here I was just concerned I’d have to stand the whole set, I never expected that girls would be falling on me too! He stared with I Want Candy (our setlist was a lot different than anything I was able to find online) and went into Another Earthquake and even took a moment to call me out for not jumping.  Sorry, Aaron, I can’t jump! I shook my head no at him and he wasn’t happy but I was not about to attempt to tell him my life story, in the middle of the show. (Nor was I going to pay $70 to meet him to explain. I sent a brief tweet though)  And I’m getting kind of sick of being called out for these things.  If you tell people to do something and they don’t do it, that’s their loss, just move on. They may have a legitimate reason for not doing it…

Because there was a piano backstage, Aaron asked them to bring it on stage and decided to show off a bit since he is a trained pianist.  He did a song about why he would never drink again and then another song on the piano too but I didn’t catch what it was.  Meanwhile, he had a girl sitting up on the stage that he was going to serenade which was kind of awkward because her back was to him.  But the next song was I’m All About You and well, he certainly did serenade her.

Then he talked a bit about how he loved the 90s – CatDog and Dunkaroos… and if anyone knew where to find Dunkaroos to get him some. (Do they even make them anymore? They are damn near impossible to find!) and then he did a cover of Vertical Horizon’s Everything You Want.

He did a couple other songs – one being a new one that I’m not sure if it’s called This is the Life or not but that is the lines he had the crowd sing back.  and Not Too Young, Not To Old before taking off his shirt and putting on, of course, an ONeal jersey. Of course then it was time for How I Beat Shaq.  A bit weird for a 25 year old to be singing it, but at least he’s not embarrassed about his past and knows that if he didn’t do it we’d have all been pretty pissed.

Then it was time for the encore – which was of course – Aaron’s Party.

Overall the show was very high energy, a lot of dancing and flips (he had 2 back up dancers) and it was a lot of fun.  And then we got a HUGE thunderstorm which started approximately 1 second after I got in my car.

(I’ll see if I can maybe add a few photos later! I’m in the process of moving and still getting everything set up)

Hanson ANTHEM Release Party

Night 2 of the New York City shows was the ANTHEM Release party.  The album was finally released that day.  They said that this show would focus more on the new album, and although there were rumors that they would play it in its entirety, they did skip playing 2 of the songs.  My “goal” is always to hear every song of the album at least once.  This is a fun thing to do – and it was “ruined” by 5 of 5 the last time they released an album because they did Shout It Out top to bottom before it was released during that week.  Going to several more shows on their upcoming fall tour I was hoping to have some rarities to look forward to and going into the show there were 3 songs I had yet to hear live.  They ended up doing all 3. I’ll have to come up with some new goal now, but I am also fairly certain I was at the first show they performed each of the songs at from Jamaica in January til now.  I’ll have to double check to be sure.

Much like the first night, around 8pm they started piping in the new album over the PA system and the guys hit the stage at about 9:15.  This show was also being aired on AXS TV (and apparently went an hour over and of course I didn’t think to set the DVR longer!)

They kicked off the set with the first song off the album – Fired Up.  (This works great as an opening number and not so great as a closing number like they did in Delaware a few weeks back) Then they went in to In The City which was appropriate because we were after all, in the city.  They did a really good job of mixing up the new and the old I thought as well, kind of alternating but not really messing with the overall flow of the show.  They kept commenting about now that they have 6 albums putting set lists together is a lot harder.  I hope they mix things up a LOT on tour.  It’ll keep me on my toes with my Hanson site and it’ll also make things more fun since we’re going to so many shows.

They pulled out a couple of rare songs – Save Me which aside from 5 of 5 and Saturday’s show I’d only heard once before.  On and On from the Members EP was back and quite a treat (though I’d kind of rather they do anything but that song from the EP because that one is probably my least favorite of them haha)  They also did Change In My Life acapella – which was great except for the fact that everyone kept “sshhhing” everyone around them and at one point even Taylor put a finger to his mouth to shush people.  You can’t settle down for ONE song people?

All of Taylor’s kids were up in the balcony rocking out during the show (with the exception of his youngest son who fell asleep early on on grandma’s lap, and baby daughter who was probably also off somewhere sleeping) and they were incredibly entertaining and adorable.

Despite the drama, a fun 2 days, but let’s just hope they never play that venue again.

Hanson 21st Birthday Show

Monday night Hanson performed night 1 of 2 at Irving Plaza in New York City to celebrate the bands 21st birthday.  Doors were at 7 and there was no opener.  Hanson was not scheduled to take the stage until 9pm.  From about 8-9 they played the new album ANTHEM that would be coming out the next day over the PA system.  They had some special merch as well – a t-shirt and a poster commemorating the 2 day event.  They ended up hitting the stage at about 9:15 and opened with Thinking of You – the first song of their debut album.  They then ended up doing the first song off each of their 6 albums – something I didn’t pick up on until a friend mentioned it to me at the end of the show. They also threw in a few rarer songs that they haven’t done I a while like Dying To Be Alive, Lucy and When You’re Gone.  (I think I had previously only seen Lucy live twice).  This show was supposed to span the whole 21 years of their career so the setlist was more varied with a bit less from the new album, since Tuesday night would be all about the ANTHEM release.

This review would be longer but it was kind of a bad night (I’ve debated getting into it here and at this time I am not going to) so I’ve blocked most of the show from my mind, unfortunately 🙁  No fault of Hanson’s at all… but hopefully when they come back to NYC it will be to a different venue.

Jason Castro and Ryan Cabrera at The Space

Saturday night, Jason Castro along with Ryan Cabrera and Deleasa made a stop at The Space in Hamden, CT.  Also joining them were some kid named Ben (which I only know because I found a card with the list of performers, he never mentioned who he was – although we did come in halfway through his set) and Like Violet.

Like Violet is the new band with sisters Carly and Caitlin who were previously in Kicking Daisies.  This was their first acoustic show and they were encouraging everyone go to go New Haven to hear what they really sounded like with a full set next weekend.

Deleasa was up next and did basically the same set that he did when he opened for Honor Society a couple months ago, although I do think that his cover of Use Me was new.

Jason did a set of 9 songs and talked a bit about how he was thankful to American Idol (before he did Somewhere Over The Rainbow) and how because of the show he gets recognized a lot and that it was cool because it felt like he had friends everywhere he went.  But he said now that he has a daughter, he gets a lot of “Oh you’re that guy on Idol – LOOK AT THE BABY!” and she has been stealing his thunder a bit!

Ryan was last and did 13 songs with some mashups thrown in – and ended up playing until about 11:45. One of his mashups included One Direction and MMMBop so obviously I was pretty excited about that.  He also did a few songs that he wasn’t sure that he would remember – even though he wrote them (kind of funny how that happens) and some that he hadn’t done in several years.  Someone had called out that they wanted him to play My Friend John but he said that he couldn’t remember at all how it started but he did let us know that the song was about a friend that was not actually named John, he just called him John because when they were growing up the friend wanted to be John Mayer.

It was a fun night at a fun venue and it was my first time really seeing Ryan not at a radio promo appearance.  And I guess technically my first non-promo Jason show as well.

Night 2 of The Package Tour!  For this show I splurged and got a package through VIP Nation for 5* 1st row.  Which meant I got a seat in the first row as well as a M&G opportunity with NKOTB (in groups off 10).  I had only met Joey before, not the whole group so I was pretty much freaking out over it from the moment that I bought the package.  Fortunately my friend from college Sarah had also bought a front row package and she is a M&G pro with NKOTB so I knew that I would have a great mentor!  I ended up finding a group for the M&G pic (2 girls to a guy, so you can get with your “favorite” you make a group a head of time)  I figured I had NO chance of being with Joe, but since I had a pic with him already from a few years ago I’d go for my 2nd favorite, Jon.  We had been talking and getting each other excited on Facebook and met up before check in.  We checked in together to make sure we’d all be in the same group and got group B.   Sarah was nowhere to be found so she was getting quite a few panicked texts from me!

We were taken upstairs to the club and given 2 drink tickets (if we were 21+) and would wait there to meet the guys.  Sarah ended up showing up and was in group I.  The final girl from our group showed up and was given I instead of B, so I told her I would trade with her because I didn’t mind switching to be with my other friends.  Then I kind of panicked – no group had been arranged for group I!  Sarah said it didn’t matter and we’d just do what we had to do and try to get me to Joe.  The group was really cool and when they found out I hadn’t met the group before and I wanted to be by Joe no one had any objections!  It was really quick and I really just said “hi nice to meet you” to all of them, but I got hugs from all 5 and Joe talked a bit more since we were near him longest.  Since it was my first M&G he said they’d try to make it a good one. ha.  It was Danny, Joe, Jordan, Donnie and finally Jon – who I was warned gives the best hugs and I would have to agree!

Also in our VIP package was a tote bag that contained our gift of tube socks (I’m pretty excited I can wear these with my brace!) and a speaker.  I haven’t taken anything out of the bag yet though to check it out.  Too busy!

Our seats were pretty awesome in the front row – except when everyone started their set out on the secondary stage – you had to stand up or else the main stage completely blocked your view of everything.  And sometimes, even if you were standing there were bright lights in your eye and you had no idea where anyone was.  Not that happened to me or anything.  ok, it totally did.  I was the perfect height for the light to hit me in the eye every now and then.

The show was changed up a little bit from the first night.  Boyz II Men’s set was basically the same – and 3 of the 4 of us in our little group (Yes, I ended up with seats RIGHT NEXT TO Sarah’s even though we bought them separately and her friends were on either side of us!) got roses.  I was the only one that didn’t because I can’t catch haha.

98 Degrees had new outfits for their show – although Jeff ended up with his shirt practically unbuttoned and his tie was going through the buttons on the shirt by the end of the night. I don’t know what he was doing! (But I was totally ok with it!)  I thought they had the girls on stage for 2 songs and not 1 the first night, but now i’m not totally sure.  They also had a CD signing after the show – it was supposed to be limited so I grabbed a CD and wristband right away when I got there, but the line was INSANE so I didn’t end up hanging around for it.  When Justin was talking about it, Nick ended up explaining to us what a CD was.  Thanks Nick, I had no idea.

And then it was time for NKOTB!  I’m trying to remember what they switched up.  For Step By Step the first night mics came down from the ceiling and they all ran from one to the next to sing, Danny’s didn’t come down and then Donnie forgot to run at one point – they didn’t end up doing that Night 2.  They still did Step By Step, but with a different set up.  I wonder if they’ll be scrapping that idea completely now.  The acoustic medley was also a bit different – Joe did a Bruno Mars song and Stay The Same which I don’t think he did the 2nd night. (This is from memory I took no notes from the front row so sorry if I’m not totally accurate!)  Donnie had a different shirt for Cover Girl so that he could rip it off and throw it into the crowd.  For the finale they added Crash to the end of the set instead of just ending it on Hangin’ Tough.

Donnie also grabbed the camera from our friend the camera man (he put us on the big screens quite a few times!) and was zooming in on people dancing in the crowd. That he didn’t do the first night either.  Overall, I thought the 2nd night was more fun, but it may have been because I was that much closer and it wasn’t all completely new and overwhelming.  We’ll see how tonight goes…

After the show, as I mentioned, I opted to not stay for the 98 degrees meet and greet. It apparently went on til close to 2am! By that point I was already home and ready for bed! I did listen to their new CD 2.0 on the way home though, to make up for not waiting around.
