What gives you hope? And what, if anything, makes you question hope? And what makes you question your questions of hope? And…

The only thing that popped into my head when I read this question was:

I find hope and it gives me rest
I find hope in a beating chest
I find hope in what eyes don’t see
I find hope in your hate for me
Have no fear when the waters rise
We can conquer this great divide

So I will leave you with that – lyrics from Hanson’s song “Great Divide”

Do you believe everything happens for a reason? Why or why not?

Sometimes I think it does, and other times I don’t.  Mainly, I use this phrase when it will work out positively.  Oh, we got stuck in traffic on the way to the Hanson concert, but then followed Zac down the street and into the venue. Everything happens for a reason!

But if something negative happened, then it has no reason and life sucks.

Describe the wackiest but most useful advice you’ve ever received.

Hmm. When I first saw wacky.. I thought of something my friend told me in High School on how to get a boyfriend.  Except, it wasn’t useful.  At least, I don’t think it was because I never did try it. She said to just grab a boy I liked and kiss him. I thought that would be a bit forward and I ignored her lol I’m not sure I can think of something wacky AND useful… sorry! (And once again these memes I do make me realize how incredibly boring I am!)

Oh the ebay and paypal drama! + Daily Post

I have had some crazy stuff go down with ebay and paypal in the past few weeks.

First – I listed some items with a reserve. I wasn’t sure I wanted to sell them unless the price was right. I had a girl email me asking what the reserve was.  Well, if this was public knowledge, ebay would show you what the reserve was. I told her I’d rather not say and bid what she was willing to pay. (If the bid got high enough, I would have the option to sell the item to the high bidder)

Well, apparently she did not want to take no for an answer and she bid and bid and bid until she figured out what the reserve was. Then emailed me again saying.. I just wanted to see what the reserve was, I can’t pay that much.  So I had to delete her bids. I told her never to even think about bidding on another one of my auction’s again. (But unfortunately could not figure out how to “Black List” her from bidding on my auctions)

Once the auction ended, I was so fed up I didn’t offer the items to any of the bidders.  Instead I relisted it with “Buy It Now Or Best Offer”  The bid-happy girl emailed and said she could pay for them at the buy it now price and I told her please don’t bid, I did not want to deal with her. She begged and begged and I kept saying no.

Next thing I know, she did buy it now and sent an immediate payment. (Once again – should have figured out how to black list her before relisting the item!)  So the item is now off to her because I couldn’t cancel her bid once the auction had ended and *fingers crossed* it will get there ok.

THEN – earlier this month I had bought an item and paid with paypal.  What I apparently did not notice was that my address listed was not correct.  Today I checked to see it had been marked “delivered” but to my friend Erin’s parents house in Virginia!!!  I messaged her and she said that they had it and would try to send it.

I logged into my paypal account and went to remove the address so we’d not have a mix up like this again – but the only address in my account was MINE.  So I had to call up Paypal and a very nice girl saw that it was still in my account on their end and removed it for me so we won’t have this problem again.

Fortunately it was only a $3 item so if I don’t end up getting it, it is not the end of the world and at least I got this problem figured out before anything else went down to Virginia! LOL

I think it is time to take a bit of a break from ebay and paypal though after those two issues, pretty much back to back!

Today’s Daily Post is: If you had a time machine that oly let you spend one hour in a different time, what date would you go to?

Going with the post theme – I would go back to after this girl got bid happy and make sure I figured out how to add her to a list so that she could no longer bid on any of my items! LOL  (I’d say go back to when I paid for the item with the wrong address, but I might have never known this mystery address was in my account that way to get rid of it)

What are you looking forward to this year?

Apparently it is getting a new computer.  I got to my PC last night and it was completely dead.  Seems to be either the motherboard or the PSU… either way I got it in 2002 after I graduated highschool (and have replaced random parts as needed since) and I am about due for a new one.  Just hoping I can get the data off the hard drive so I don’t need to start completely over. (Although I do have about 90% of my stuff backed up on an external hard drive)

Fortunately I have a laptop that I can use for almost everything I used my desktop for, it is just a matter of getting it all set up.

How do you stay entertained when you are snowed in?

I should be good at answering this since I’ve been snowed in twice already this winter. (Although our latest snow storm was not as bad as the one we got just after Christmas)  Provided we don’t lose power, I don’t do too much different than normal.  TV, computer, etc.  And maybe cleaning. (Though usually not unless there is absolutely nothing on TV and I’ve reached the end of the internet)

Friday we got hit with some more snow.  It wasn’t windy, like during our first storm, so the trees looked absolutely gorgeous with the snow on them.  I decided I was going to venture outside to snap some photos and to check out the “snow” setting on my camera.  The door to the backyard was frozen shut (probably not a good idea to keep it that way) so I had to go out the front door and then around.

I walked about halfway through our backyard and took some pics – but the shed was in the way and then there was a plastic bag tied to one of the trees that wasn’t making things look very nice lol so I went a little closer.  Then I turned to my left.. and there was a DEER! It was just standing there in my neighbors yard. I kind of panicked, not sure what it was going to do, but managed to snap a photo.  Then it ran off into the woods and I tried to get a couple more pics of it, but nothing too amazing.  This is the shot right after I noticed it:

How do you stay focused on a task or activity? What do you do when you need to concentrate or get things done? (Say, writing a blog post)

Blog posts are no problem to focus on, most of the time.  Usually I start them and then leave them in the drafts for a bit before I actually go back and edit them.  They are almost always started after midnight too, it seems.

Focusing on everything else is what is difficult! I usually just write out a to-do list and hope that one by one I tackle the items on it.  Then once there aren’t too many items left on it, I write out a new list to condense an add stuff to it.

However, if the task has ANYTHING to do with cleaning – especially my room – it will get put off for as long as humanly possible.  Every now and then I get motivated to clean my room, but that never lasts for long. (Which is why I have been working on the major overhaul of my bedroom for the past 3 or so weeks!)

The Daily Post – Day 5

Do you prefer to talk, text message, or a different communication method?

I think my most popular forms of communication would have to be email, followed by BBM, followed by text.  I don’t have a decent text plan (200 a month) so I tend to not text back to people (especially if they sent me a message that probably went to ALL of their contacts on Holidays) because I don’t want to “waste” what little texts I have.

And I absolutely hate to talk on the phone. I won’t answer my phone if it is a number I don’t recognize and I tend to wait FOREVER to call people back if they leave me a message.  I’d rather email you lol

The Daily Post – Day 4

Share something that makes you smile. (Can be a photo, an idea, a memory – anything that comes to mind).

This picture is a few things that make me smile all in one – Zac Hanson, drummers, concerts w/ friends, front row, seated shows, shows where I can get my “big” camera in, shows with good lighting

The Daily Post

I just found out about “The Daily Post” which will be posting prompts daily (go figure!) to get people to blog every day in 2011.  I’m not sure I can commit to that entirely but I figured I would do their first few prompts and see where we end up from there.  Worst case I do the previous weeks every Monday or something like that… at least until I get bored 😉

List three countries you’d like to visit, and why you want to go.

Australia is definitely one. I can’t really put my finger on why but I’d love to check out the Sydney Opera House and I guess I think it is cool that it can snow there on my birthday since it is winter there in July! And their toilets flush backwards… (Or maybe ours are backwards?)

Paris… I seem to have a fascination with the Eiffel tower. Not sure why… but I’d love to visit it!

Ok so this is not a country – but Africa. I very much so would like to go on an African Safari.  I guess if I have to pick a specific part I would say Sierra Leone – I don’t know if they have safaris but the boy I sponsor, Moses, lives there and I’d love to meet him 🙂

Name someone who deserves more credit than they get. And for bonus points, how to change things so they get more

Hanson. Duh. They get written off as kids or a one hit wonder (or are thought of to be ridiculously old for some reason) but they are actually incredibly talented and definitely deserve a lot more credit than they get.  Shout It Out is one of my favorite albums, probably ever, but it sold very poorly because a lot of people decide that since they didn’t like MMMBop they won’t like their stuff.  Well, it has been 13 years since MMMBop, you’ve grown up and so have they – so give them a chance! Not to mention, their live shows are amazing… I wouldn’t keep going back for more if they weren’t.  Honestly I think the only way to change this would be for them to change the band’s name – and I would hate for that to happen (and I am pretty sure they would never do it either) so I will just continue on being clued in to one of the best kept secrets of music!

What’s the single most important thing you accomplished in 2010?
I’m sure there were more important things – but I am going to be trivial and narrow it down to meeting John Mayer.  That has been on my life list since I first saw him live in 2002 or 2003. (It sucks I can’t list all my concerts off the top of my head anymore like I used to! haha) I just love him and I thought our meeting was fantastic even if it was rather short… (though we totally monopolized him haha) and I love him.  Even though he has no filter and just says things as soon as they pop in to his head and that tends to get him in trouble.

…and speaking of doing things daily – I started a tumblr.  It is a little bit of everything (because I didn’t feel like making a separate account for reblogging stupid things) but the main purpose is to do Project 365 where you take a picture a day for a year. I decided to start on 1.1.11 rather than at some other point – so every day I will take a picture of something – it might be random or it might have a purpose or you might not understand what the heck it is I took a picture of.. but it will be posted at http://concertkatie.tumblr.com
