This is crazy

A lot of girls are here because they thought jonas would be here and they aren't hs fans. I kind of hope jb doesn't show but I am in VIP and there is sections reserved for 'the jonas group' so I guess we will see!

Everyone in VIP seems to know each other too

I just hope come show time I find a spot where I can see! Its getting crowded up here

Holy cow!

We just arrived and the line is around the corner! Wow! Quite the change from our last nyc show in july!

We have ' VIP seating' so now we just wait for doors which should be about 6

(And why do I feel like I am risking my life everytime I get in a nyc cab?)

Heading to irving

We just finished mingling with the stars at the wax museum! Photos with wax jonas were expensive so we just took pics of them. But you could pose at the druns behind them – I wonder if Alex has?

Now we're finishing our traditional mcdonalds cheeseburgers and will be heading to the venue after a quick stop at bubba gumps for pressed pennies!

Talk to you all soon!

We’re on our way

We pulled up to the station as our train was leaving. Oops! Luckily there was another just 20 mins later.
People have been lined up at the venue since 11 or earlier according to Rebecca one of hs's st leaders. We probably won't get there until 4 at the earliest. Stay tuned for more updates!!

Live blogging

Now that I have made my way to the darkside and gotten a blackberry I will be able to live blog from the shows! Hopefully that will help me get reviews up in a much more timely manner.
I will be trying it out this sunday from the honor society show at irving plaza in new york city.
Also expect some photos of rock boat scrap book pages coming soon!! I worked on about 15 pages last weekend and hope to put the finishing touches on them (or photograph then as is) this weekend and get them up. I think that I am going to be scrapping this trip for the rest of my life – I have so many pics printed and haven't even seen what one of my cabinmates has taken yet! Most of our day in miami and nassau is what will be posted asap!

Music = Life

Hot Topic is once again selling items for their “Music = Life” Hot Topic Foundation. Several years ago, when the plastic bracelets were all the rage, for $1 I picked up a “Music = Life” bracelet. This time around they have a large and small bag, both priced at $1 as well as guitar picks ($.50), mints ($1) and kazoos ($1.50)

I just picked up myself a small “music = life” bag and 5 each of the guitar picks. 1 of each for a necklace I am making and the rest I might use as scrapbook embellishments since I mainly scrapbook concerts!

The shipping was a bit steep ($6.50 for $6 in merchandise!) but the rest of the $$ is going to a good cause and I rarely make it to my local mall, so I went for it. The Hot Topic foundation promotes education of the arts!

Head on over to HotTopic.com to check out what is available!

Matt Wertz 2/3/09

It’s nights like last night that make me question my sanity. Matt Wertz was coming to Hartford’s Webster Underground. He was previously scheduled to play the Webster main stage with Gavin DeGraw over the summer, but that had gotten canceled. When it was rescheduled, only Gavin came, not Matt. So it was kind of a big deal not to miss Matt again (as he doesn’t really come this way often) even though the weather had been predicted to be a blizzard.

Luckily, when I woke up on Tuesday the snow hadn’t started yet and the prediction changed to a dusting and 1-3 inches. I left my house around 4, even though doors weren’t set to open until 7pm. I was tempted to turn around when 2 streets up from my house I saw 2 cars stuck. The radio kept saying the road conditions were bad and that you shouldn’t leave the house unless you had to. But I HAD to. Webster wasn’t going to cancel this show and I wasn’t going to miss it. I made it to Jen’s a little after 5.

We got to the Underground about 7:15. There were 2 local bands on first. (someone i dont know) and Mike Falzone. Around 8:30 The Alternate Routes took the stage. It was quite a different setting than the Rock Boat and at one point I turned to Jen and said “The last time I heard this song, I was in shorts!” Which if you didn’t know it was just last month wouldn’t be that interesting.. but it was in January… on the Lido Deck.

Eric from the Alternate Routes also played in Matt Wertz’s band. We switched sides of the venue because of an obnoxious drunk couple.. but of course by the end of the show they were next to us again!

These might not be in order – my clever new trick is to record a short clip of each song rather than texting myself or writing down a set list. Except I never cleared out my memory cards from Rock Boat. So I didn’t have a lot of room. Shortly into Matt’s set I realized this and deleted some videos off the memory card (even though they haven’t been backed up yet – eeek) so when I transferred them into the computer, things might have gotten shaken up a bit. From what I can tell, it seems about right. (The video audio quality is TERRIBLE. Im shocked I managed to figure out all of the songs!)

Rock Boat Day by Day – Day 7

Thursday January 22

When we woke up we were docked. We decided to get our stuff and leave about 9am. We took our luggage with us, went downstairs, went through customs (where I fell and everyone just looked at me) and then waited for a cab.

Michele, Marisa and I split a cab for like $25 – the shuttle was $16 so not a deal at all if you were with a group.

When I got to the airport I saw Maribeth so I sat with her at her gate until she left. David Ryan Harris was there and so was Ryan from Sister Hazel.

Then I went to my gate for an hour before getting on my flight. I landed at JFK around 3:15, waited until about 4 for my shuttle home, went by LaGuardia and Shea Stadium again (a lot more of it had been removed since last week when I went by!) and got home at 7pm.

Quite a long day, but I managed to sleep most of the plane ride. There was also a guy on the plane near me with a “I <3 Hanson" hat on that he had signed by the guys and they were asking me what I thought it would go for on ebay lol I will post pictures soon – I am currently checking out the status of the snow to see if it will interfere with me seeing Alternate Routes and Matt Wertz tonight!

Rock Boat Day by Day – Day 6

Wednesday January 21
We missed going to Half Moon Cay again. It’s a tender port so we’d have to take a ferry from our big boat to the island. Because the waves are so rough, it wouldn’t be safe for us to take the ferries over. We got $20 credited to our accounts.

Hanson did the walk on the boat. The other 3 girls stopped by for a bit, but I was in the room. So much for renting the wheelchair to do the walk! LOL

I ventured out by myself to see Tyrone Wells in the Criterion Lounge and the boat was REALLY rocking. I went back to the room for a hoodie and ran into Marisa. We went out to the Lido Deck and saw part of Green River Ordinance, had lunch, and then watched part of SK6ers set. It was FREEZING so I ran back to the room to put on jeans before heading to our 4th M&G.; (There were 6 and we made it to 4)

Afterwards we decided to get Ice Cream – and heard Cowboy Mouth announce Isaac, Taylor and Zac were coming on stage so we ran over to the Lido Stage and watched them jam while eating our ice cream. We ended up following Zac to the elevators, but he took the stairs while we waited.

We went to dinner and then the 4 of us went to spent the evening in the Criterion. First up was Michael Tolcher, Taylor joined him on stage. Then was David Ryan Harris, I really liked him, but I almost fell asleep during his set. No fault of his, I was just exhausted. And after him was Aslyn.

We were going to go rest up and then see Alternate Routes in the Promenade, but no one ended up getting back up! I hear we missed out on a GREAT jam that night!

Rock Boat Day by Day – Day 5

Tuesday January 20
We were supposed to dock at Half Moon Cay this morning and Hanson was going to be holding a walk on the Island. However, when I woke up Maribeth was looking out the window and said “We’re still moving”

It was announced that due to the swells, we wouldn’t be able to port and we would try again tomorrow morning to visit Half Moon Cay.

I stayed in the room and watched part of the Inauguration while the others were sunning on the Lido Deck. Marisa came back and got me and we watched part of Obama’s speech on the HUGE screen on the Lido Deck (so surreal) and then grabbed some chairs. I ended up falling asleep and of course, getting sun burned.

I took a nap in the room and woke up VERY red. We went to dinner in the formal dining room again and then headed to the Palladium where Hanson would be playing later that night. We found good spots on the balcony near the stage on the side that Zac faces.

We stayed for all 3 sets, Curtis Peoples, Gaelic Storm and then Hanson.

After that, Shayla, Marisa and I went to the casino and listened to The Spring Standards.
