Idol Thoughts

Last night the Idols sang songs of MOTOWN! It was a big night because whoever goes home is not making the tour! Gasp! Random thought, if they use the save this week and then next week 2 go home.. how do they decide who is #10?  A lot of articles said that Katie and Andrew “shared” 8th place last season so it’ll be interesting to see if that ends up playing out or not.

I think everyone really excelled with this genre, which was surprising especially with our country stars. But they stayed true to themselves!  I am not sure who will be in the bottom… Haley, Naima and Paul perhaps?  I can’t decide who I think will/want to go home. There is no one that I am like “oh I don’t want to see them on tour!” So it is tough. (But I need Stefano to make it on tour. lol)

This week DialIdol has Casey on the very bottom, but Lauren, Paul, Naima, Thia and Haley are all considered in danger of going home.  But the raw numbers tell a completely different story – with Casey on top! Jacob, Thia, Naima and Stefano have the lowest totals based on the raw numbers.  So, once again, can we trust DialIdols predictions?  We’ll have to see what happens tonight!  (I just checked out their FAQs, which are a bit dated, but they say it doesn’t count text votes so I am assuming it is not counting Facebook votes either.  A lot of the more techsavvy younger fans are probably using these methods over the good ol’ phone vote which will no doubt throw off these results)

Casey – Not sure I am a fan of his new hairdo, but that is besides the point.  I think he started off a little slow but about the middle found his groove and I think he did really well.

Thia – Something upbeat! Hooray! And she sounded god too! Double Hooray!

Jacob – As Jimmy said – all these Motown singers came from the same background as Jacob so of course he did great!

Lauren – Definitely a great song choice. She did fantastic. I am beginning to worry if I’ll be able to pick a bottom 3… (Not that I thought Lauren would be in it at this point)

Stefano – I love Stefano but I just did not love this performance.  He sounded ok but I don’t know, there was just something off about it.

Haley – This was a great choice for her. And it seems like the hair stylist had a lot of fun with the straightener this week.  I am not sure that america will like this but I think it is a better fit for her than the other styles she was trying to “be” in past weeks.

Scotty – Ahh the country boy. This can make or break him… I think it worked out great (though my parents thought he should have done “papa was a rolling stone”) and I think just solidifies him being in the finals (And here I thought he was a one trick pony since he kept singing that one damn song!)

Pia – Now I want her to do more exciting songs. But she did great, of course!

Paul – I think he did a lot better with his guitar – not so awkward – but I am just not sure America “gets” him.

Naima – I… am not sure what to think of this. The singing was alright but the dancing.. I don’t know. I guess it went with the song but.. I dunno. I might have to watch that one back again to see if I like it better haha

James – The only thing I got out of his pre-performance interview was that he is working with Bob Babbitt.. who worked on Hanson’s album Shout It Out.  Then sometimes when he performs I close my eyes and picture Adam Lambert.  But as much as it pains me to say it (every week haha) he is good. I can see him coming in 3rd.

Idol Thoughts

This week the top 12 performed songs from the year of their birth.  The first half of the show was a little bit questionable with performances and song choices (I was going to put “IMO” here, but hey it is my blog isn’t it kind of obvious everything here is “IMO”?) but it seemed to pick up in the second half, with Stefano being the turning point.

Pia and Scotty continue to be strong and consistent – I can definitely see them going a long way and possibly even to the final 2 if they keep it up. A few of the contestants were sick, which showed in some of their singing but most of them tried to over come it.  The downside of everyone living together in an awesome mansion, I guess!

My predictions for the bottom 3… which are probably completely off base (again) – Naima, Paul, Karen.  I think Karen will go home this week.  DialIdol – which I continue to check and freak out over even though I question its reliability with the addition of online voting, have the bottom as Stefano, Paul, Casey and Karen. (Though Thia, Haley and James are also yellow)  The raw numbers tell a bit of a different story, with Casey on the bottom and Haley and Stefano swap places.  Last week Ashthon went home and was ranked #9 in the raw numbers and 11 with the main scores. So really, it means nothing. I think. Maybe. 😉

Also – it was kind of interesting to find out just how young these contestants are.  Usually there are a couple who are older than me – but this year – nope!  Well, we did not hear what month Paul was born in, so he might be older than me by a few months.. but everyone else I am older than!

Naima (1984) – Not a great start for the night. I don’t like how they changed the song to make it for 2011. I want to like her but this performance was just not the best.

Paul (1984) – I think him being sick kind of took him over this week.  He started off a little rocky but you could tell he was not giving it his all. It was kind of blah.

Thia (1995) – I am not a fan of Pocahontas and therefore not a fan of this song.  She has a great voice but I’d like to see her do something more “fun” and not a ballad.

James (1989) – This was probably James’ worst performance so far.  He seemed to never be able to catch his breath which I think showed throughout the song.

Haley (1990) – I’m not sure she should have moved around so much, that seemed to affect her breathing and singing. She also got  lipstick all over her chin and cheek from the mic during that performance!  But I wasn’t really into that and I think Haley needs to find who she is because she is a good singer provided she picks the right songs.

Stefano (1989) – He lost points by making fun of NKOTB, that’s for sure 😉 But it was one of the better performances of the night.

Pia (1988) – She is good. And she is consistent and if she keeps it up she will go far.

Scotty (1993) – He is good but I’m still not that into him (or country) but I can definitely see a Pia vs Scotty final 2.

Karen (1989) – I think she put her all into it this week after her bottom 3 scare last week.  But the whole singing in Spanish and English is a bit old. We get it.

Casey (1991) – I like that he is taking risks and that he is the first one to play an instrument this year. The faces he made during the performance were downright scary though…

Lauren (1994) –  I think this was a great choice for her, but the fact that she has a cold definitely came through at some points. But I think she tried to overcome it well and gave a decent performance.

Jacob (1987) – Once he started with the screeching he kind of lost himself a bit and seemed to be all over the place. Not really a fan of the performance.

Idol Thoughts – Top 13 Performaces

Sometimes I like to read Ryan’s teleprompter with him “Good Evening! And Welcome To American Idol!”  This week the Idols sang songs from their Idols. I do really hope that they continue to use genres in the future – how great would it be to hear Scotty coutry-fy an R&B; song? Although I have read that it might be one of the things that they drop with this new season.  I guess we’ll just have to wait and see! The Idol’s Idols was almost “too easy” of a subject.  But it is just the beginning of the competition so I guess I will let that slide.

I think most of the contestants did really well this week.  I actually can not decide on a bottom 3, so I have a bottom 4.  I know, I know, that’s cheating! But it is my blog so I can do whatever I want! 😉  The 4 are – Naima, Ashthon, Stephano and Paul.  I am not sure America really “gets” Paul, though I do enjoy him.  (Although his dance moves were a bit odd.  But it was hilarious when Ryan tried to imitate them!)  The judges seem to love Ashthon, but I don’t seem to hear what they are hearing.  I think Naima didn’t make the best choices last night, which is a shame, because I really like her.  And Stephano… my favorite… but he took on a song that was too big for him AND it said “Goodbye” in it, which can often be the kiss of death on this show. (I have had a running theory about this for years so last night my mom yelled out “HE SANG GOODBYE!” as he was singing lol)

According to DialIdol, 2 of my 4 are “correct”… but I am still not sure how they are taking into account the online votes. And they usually are not that accurate in the beginning of the season but I guess we’ll just wait and see.  They have Paul and Ashthon in the bottom 4 – with Casey (what?!) and Haley. I can see why people weren’t into Haley’s performance – the “yodeling”, even though that is how the LeAnn song goes! (I never did like that song)

Under the cut are my raw notes from as they were performing.  I was VERY sleepy last night (details on why are coming up later today)So I hope they at least make some sense 🙂

Lauren – Shania Twain – I think she was going a little too fast for herself in the beginning and got out of breath, but then she seemed to find her way. I agree with Steven that she could have done more with the song, but I don’t think she was bad.

Casey – Joe Cocker – I think this was a perfect choice for him.  Though I am not sure why he had so many backup singers.. I get the whole “friends” thing but I just didn’t think it was needed.  Seems a bit early to be pulling out stops like that but I guess I should realize that things aren’t the same as they were in the past.

Ashthon – Diana Ross – Not impressed with her… she might have picked a song that was too big for her. (And I just realized her name is spelled Ashthon and not Ashton…)

Paul – Ryan Adams – He has an interesting stage presence. And I’d like to know how he has such white teeth haha  I’m not sure I liked his performance this week, it could be because I am not familiar with the song he chose.  It was a bit of a down song too – I think I’d like him more in a more upbeat setting.

Pia – Celine Dion – Pia is the real deal. At first I was hesitant with her artist choice because Celine is one of those that is tough to sing and I think Pia did the song great justice and combined with last weeks performance I think she’ll go far in this competition.

James – Paul McCartney – He was good. Again. Darn! And he seemed to keep his Adam screeching under control too so bonus points there from me.

Haley – LeeAnn Rimes – Ok when the spoiler list first came out everyone was like “omg Haley will yodel” but.. that is how the song goes so I am not sure why that was such a shocker lol I thought she did good.

Jacob – R Kelly – I’m again not a fan of the extra singers. For the finale, fine. But the first round? I want to hear Jacob! I feel like he had some off moments, but for the most part did well.

Thia – Michael Jackson – She is a good singer but I don’t know if I liked this song for her. I don’t think it will keep her from advancing though.

Stefano – Stevie Wonder – Stevie is another one that is hard to sing. I think this song was a bit too big for him – but he is still my favorite (Even if he sang goodbye which is always the jinx! UT OH!)

Karen – Selena – I wasn’t really wowed with her performance, but I didn’t hate it either.  There are definitely stronger girls in the competition. (despite what JLo said after I typed this out lol)

Scotty – Garth Brooks – I actually opted to get dinner during his performance but from what I heard it was a safe choice for him and I’m sure it’ll get him through.

Naima – Rihanna – Not all that impressed with her performance. I think she either should have changed the song completely or just did it the way we are used to. It is always a challenge to do a “current” song.

Idol – Top 12!

The Idol Top 12  13 has been announced.  I can’t say that I am 100% pleased with it, but quite a few that I wanted to go through did end up making it through.  I hope this is not still a “spoiler” as it was aired on Thursday and it is now Saturday, but I decided to post who my ideal Top 13 would have been, versus who the Top 13 ended up being.

Idol’s Top 13 ConcertKatie’s Top 13
Casey Abrams Casey Abrams
Haley Reinhart Haley Reinhart
Jacob Lusk Tim Halperin
James Durbin James Durbin
Karen Rodriquez Karen Rodriquez
Lauren Alaina Lauren Alaina
Paul McDonald Paul McDonald
Pia Toscano Pia Toscano
Scotty McCreery Brett Lowenstern
Thia Meghia This Meghia
Stefano Langone Stefano Langone
Naima Aededapo Naima Aededapo
Ashton Jones Robbie Rosen

However, I would have made it a Top 14 and also included Kendra Chantelle.
It did kind of pain me to add James Durbin to my list – but I have to give credit where it is due and although he is quite similar to Adam Lambert (though maybe a bit more Rock than Glam) he has been pretty good thus far.

Idol Thoughts – Live Rounds!

The top 12 Guys & Girls have now performed “live” (it was pre-recorded) on Idol.  I take back what I said about the boys being better than the girls! The girls seemed weaker in their packages when the Top 24 were picked, but based on the performances of the past two nights the girls are AWESOME.  The boys? Not so awesome.

It is hard for me to pick which ones were the worst of the guys because there were so many of them that were not that great!  However, I decided to try out the Facebook voting to see how it worked and I gave 2 votes to Tim and 2 votes to Stefano before I got sick of typing in “captcha” code.  It is a heck of a lot easier to get massive amounts of votes by calling than it is online, so I think I am going to stick to calling.  That is, if there is anyone who catches my attention enough to justify me spending time calling.  I was also really bummed that James Durbin did a good job.  I did not want him to do well because I feel like he is a Lambert2.0, but unfortunately for me I think that his performance is going to guarantee he stick around for a while.  I was also shocked that Dial Idol had Scotty McCreery as #1 when I checked their site!  He was ok, but I wouldn’t say he was the best of the night.  I’m a bit bummed that a couple of my “not so favorites” did well, because it means that a couple of my 6 favorites will not be making it through to the 12!

The girls were really, really good.  The ones that I think will be the bottom/going home are Ta-Tynisa, Rachel and Julie.  There actually have to be even MORE than that in the bottom because they are going from 24 to 12 but I am having trouble picking 3 more girls that I don’t like.  It looks like Dial Idol has Ta-Tynisa as #1 which is odd to me again.  Although I think that site has a lot more trouble being accurate in the beginning rounds and I am not sure how they are factoring in Facebook votes.  I think the younger voting crowd might opt to vote on Facebook instead of (or in addition to) the phone lines and I don’t know how Dial Idol is taking that into consideration.

For those of you who don’t know, DialIdol is a website which “measures the busy signal” and tries to correctly predict which contestants are getting the most votes because of it.  I think in the more recent years Idol has opened more phone lines because busy signals when I call seem to be less and less (unless I just end up calling for less popular contestants) so I am really not sure how accurate it is, but I always cross reference the site and then go nuts when it predicts one of my faves will be in the bottom.  For this preliminary round I am trying to ignore it – especially since the #1s seem to be so off the mark compared to my opinions.

Under the cut is a bit of a breakdown for each contestant I wrote as they were performing. I only watched each of the performances once so it is “first impressions” I am hoping to have a DVR really soon so I can reference performances again… that is if I decide to also make this a weekly post. Still not sure! But I do now have that fun little graphic, so we’ll see 🙂

1. Clint Jun – he seemed like he was all over the place – yet the judges loved it? Am I listening to a different performance than they are?

2. Jovany – I don’t really like him, but he did good. Nothing really amazing, but good. Safe song choice though.

3. Jordan – I think the background drowned him out and I wasn’t blown away by it.

4. Tim – My twitter pal! But.. not that great, unfortunately. I think the song selection was the issue.

5. Brett – He seems very awkward on the stage.  However I thought his performance was good. Probably the best one to this point.

6. James –  It pains me to say this, but he was great. I could do without the screaming/screeching though. Never a fan of that.

7. Robbie – Definitely the wrong song choice. He started off alright, but then he seemed to lose it. Depressing, because he was really good in past rounds!

8. Scotty- I really don’t like country. But, I guess he was alright.

9. Stephano- In the beginning he seemed to be overpowered by the band.  But then he seemed to find his groove… except for a note or two… 😉 But I liked it!

10. Paul – He has a really interesting voice. I liked his performance, though my parents weren’t too impressed with him.

11.  Jacob – I kind of go either way with him, but I thought his performance was very good.

12. Casey -awesome, awesome, awesome!

1. Ta-Tynisa – She seemed pitchy at points, but otherwise I think she did pretty good.

2. Naima – I liked that she put her personality in to it. A lot of people questioned her decision to do this song because of Fantasia, but I think she did the song justice.

3. Kendra – I really liked her performance.

4. Rachel – I really don’t like the arrangement changes she made to the song. It made it hard to recognize and it came across as really cabaret.

5. Karen – Another good performance.  And here I thought that the girls were weak! I liked that she went from English to Spanish.

6. Lauren T – These girls are surprising me! Another good performance.

7. Ashton – She seemed a bit shouty at parts and she wasn’t one of the best, but I didn’t think she was horrible either.

8. Julie – She had spots that were good and some that were not so good. I wasn’t impressed.

9. Haley – I think that she is one of my favorite girls. Not sure if the song choice was right for her, but I still think that she did well!

10. Thia – I like Thia. I wasn’t sure about her starting without any music, but once the music came in it as evident that she is a beautiful singer.

11. Lauren A. – She had a real good command of the stage, great stage presence and I am glad she delivered since she is “the chosen one”

12. Pia – Very nice job!  She nailed it.

Idol Thoughts

I have been debating blogging about Idol seasons for a couple of seasons now.  Season 8 I had this blog but wasn’t blogging very often, Season 9 there was no one that really kept me all that interested enough to actually blog about.  Season 10 – I still don’t have anyone that I feel “omg they HAVE to win!” about but I do have a lot of thoughts so we’ll see if this ends up being a regular feature or just me posting when I need to vent haha

Last night we got to see the Top 24.  They made it even, 12 boys 12 girls – but based on the girls who went through I have to say that for the most part they are weak.  As far as the boys – well, I would have switched out a few of the jerks for a couple of the guys that I didn’t think should go home (Carson, Jacee, to name a couple)

I like Brett, Casey, Paul, Stephano, Robbie and Tim. I hope it is those 6 who make it into the top 12. I can not stand James Durbin (Lambert 2.0), Scotty McCreery appears to be a one trick pony, Jordan and Clint come across as bullies from group week (I don’t care how well you can sing – I can’t really support you if I don’t think you are at least a little bit nice!) and Jacob and Jovany I can really go either way with.

As far as the girls – the only ones I really remember is Thia and Lauren A.  I am hoping some of them really wow me on Wednesday!  Most of the girls they showed I did not remember and a lot of the performance clips they showed I was not all that impressed with.  I really hope they step it up now that we are voting for them.

I also hope that Lauren A – “the chosen one” can live up to her hype.  Last season there was a lot of hype over Andrew Garcia and Katie Stevens – but once they made it to the voting rounds they didn’t seem to be quite as great as they were in the clips from Hollywood.  I am hoping that the same thing doesn’t happen again (for any of the contestants!)

I am glad that they sent home Chris Medina. Based on his singing alone (this IS a singing competition) he was not meant to be there.  Obviously he is a super awesome and wonderful guy, based on his sob story – but the competition just was not for him and I would not have been happy if they let him through because of his story alone.

It has also been announced that you can now vote online – provided you have a valid facebook account – up to 50 times after the performances.  I am not sure how I like this idea.  On the plus side, it will probably be easier to vote online than on the phone… but I feel like it is just a ploy to cushion the vote numbers.  AT&T; users will also be allowed unlimited text votes, as usual. (I have AT&T; but only a 200 text plan so I don’t think that I will be texting any votes this season!)

Idol Thoughts!

Well, 2 episodes of Idol have now passed.  We saw NY/NJ auditions on night one and New Orleans, LA on Night 2.  So far, I am enjoying the new judges.  They all seem to have a good chemistry together (except for when Randy gets pissy that he is still the least popular member of the judges panel) and have fun joking around with each other.

My only complaint is that they are all a bit too nice.  Hopefully once we get into the Hollywood rounds they will buckle down a bit – or we’ll be voting on a Top 30 because they couldn’t cut it down enough to a 24 or 12!

Ratings are down a bit – but I think that last season ratings in the beginning were exceptionally high because it was Simon’s last season (Too bad the talent was mediocre at best)  It looks like they have been letting some good singers through, we’ll have to see how they all do under the pressures of Hollywood Week!

And, as always, I spotted someone I “knew” during the auditions.  This year it was Phil Bensen, who I saw open for Push Play a couple years back.  They didn’t show his audition or if he made it through so I guess I will have to keep an eye out for him in Hollywood Week.  (In the past I spotted Bryce from Stealing Jane who I saw open for Hanson twice, Will Huser (sp?) who opened for Aaron Carter, a couple of Hanson fans that I recognized from seeing them at shows, a kid that went to my high school…)

American Idol is back!

Tonight at 8pm EST, American Idol will be back. They are saying there will be a lot of changes this year with of course the most obvious being the new judges. Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi and Ellen DeGeneres are out. Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez are in and Randy Jackson returns for the 10th season.

The judges have been bragging that it is the most talented group ever – but I don’t believe them. I think they said something like that last year and while I watched every episode, it was a bit of a snoozefest (and the tour sold very poorly as well with many dates being canceled and rescheduled) I think they just have to say things like that to get people pumped to watch.

Most likely I will be watching the entire season, since Idol is a bit of a guilty pleasure or obsession of mine… Last year I had considered blogging about the show but then couldn’t stay committed to it. I don’t want to commit to anything this year either – but I will at the very least try to post something with my thoughts about all the changes after I watch a few episodes. (The first 9 minutes tonight are supposed to explain everything that will be changing) Perhaps I will put my guesses for the bottom 3 once we get to that point in the competition as well. It will all depend on if I am inspired enough.

I am kind of excited about everything starting up tonight but at the same time trying not to get my hopes up. Steven Tyler and JLo are both great performers and they obviously know a lot about the industry – but how well will they do at judging the contestants? Who will ‘tell it like it is’ like Simon used to do? And just how many times will Randy say ‘dawg’?

American Idols Live – Mohegan Sun Arena 7/13

Last night the Idols took their tour to the Mohegan Sun casino for the first time ever.  This was considered Katie Stevens home town show and it appeared most of the floor was filled with her friends and family!

My seats were the front row of the section all the way in the back, but were centered with the stage.  It was a great perspective of the whole show, but not so great with trying to get photos.  I haven’t had a chance to look at the photos I took yet, but if anything came out decent they will be posted at a later date.

Before the show started we tried the text contest to win After Party passes, but had no luck.

Didi kicked off the show, and her style was a bit too laid back to kick off the show, but she sounded great.

She was followed by Andrew Garcia who did his rendition of Straight Up that made everyone fall in love with him during Hollywood week as well as Maroon 5’s Sunday Morning.  Also mellow, but good!

Next up was our hometown girl, Katie Stevens.  She came out to tons and tons of cheers and rocked to Here We Go Again (which I think she did even better than Demi Lovato) and Fighter.

She was followed by Tim – who I wasn’t all that impressed with.  I do think his studio songs sound pretty good though so I can see him having a decent album, but if you can’t really keep up with it live, I’m not sure if that will get him very far.  (But he’s cute and the girls love him!) He really tried to get the crowd involved with his songs as well.

Next up was my fellow Hanson fan, Siobhan.  She started with Paint It Black and held out the last note for what seemed like FOR-EV-ER!  It was awesome.  However I felt like she lost it a bit on her other two songs, she might have overdone it on that note.  She had great stage presence though and seemed really into her performance.

Aaron Kelly was next.  He was my mom’s favorite and she enjoyed his set but I am just not into country.  He did a good job and also had great stage presence and I can see him doing very well for himself.  Most of the Idols who choose the country route do, and I don’t see Aaron as being any different. Kids got talent, even though if its not my favorite genre.

Then they all (#10-#5) came out and sang Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb” before it was time for intermission.

After the intermission it was time for Big Mike.  I had liked him early on in the competition, but not so much after the Judge’s Save was used on him.  I also thought his falsetto for Justin Timberlake’s “My Love” was WAY too much. His other two songs were better fits for him and he does have a good voice but I just wish he did more upbeat stuff.

Finally it was time for my favorite, Casey.  I really wish he got to display his guitar skills more on the show – but it was probably hard for him to “jam” when songs had to fit into a two minute or whatever it was time limit.  I felt like Casey was the best overall musician in the competition this year and I see him doing pretty well for himself in his career in the future. (And I was also really impressed with his studio versions pretty much every week)  He was joined by Big Mike for “Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman” and they sounded great together.  I also thought it was funny that Mike referred to Casey as “Mr Pretty” haha.

Next up was Crystal, who was probably one of my least favorite contestants ever.  She has a good voice but I just feel like the competition was not for her.  She sang “Whats Up”, “Come To My Window”, “Up To The Mountain” and “Piece of My Heart”  My parents seemed to enjoy her though – if that is saying anything.

And then it was time for our winner, Lee.  I have tried really hard to like him, really I did. There were some weeks I thought he was the best during the show, but most of the time I felt like he was trying too hard to emulate someone else and I just wanted him to find his own voice.  I was not impressed with his set at all – I felt more like he was yelling at me than singing for me.  He had a mic, no need to be so shouty with his performance.  But once again the crowd seemed to love him.  He did what I have dubbed the cover of the year – “Use Somebody”  I have also heard this done by Nick Jonas and Jason of Honor Society and so far I have to say that Jason has the best rendition.  However, next month I am seeing the originals – Kings of Leon – so that might be a bit of a tough call after that show 😉

When Lee’s set finally ended (I think it is the longest winner set I have ever seen of the 5 or so Idols shows I have been to over the years) the boys came on stage (yay casey!) and sang Bon Jovi’s “Its My Life” and then the girls came out to start “My Life Would Suck Without You” by the original Idol, Kelly Clarkson, and then they were joined by the guys and all 10 of them finished out the song.

I am glad that I ended up getting to see a show when I thought it wasn’t going to happen when the Bridgeport show got shuffled, but I just wish I could have had better things to say.  I will definitely go see Casey again and will probably be dragged to see Lee by friends, I just hope he can work on his live performance a bit before then…

After the show we tried to find a spot where the Idols would be meeting with fans as I really wanted to meet Casey, Katie and Siobhan (at the very least), but unfortunately the security would not let them come out.

So now I have gone to what will probably end up the only show that they were not allowed to sign after at and the only show Kris Allen didn’t perform at during last years tour.  Apparently I should stick to only seeing Idols after the tour is over and they are doing their own thing – I seem to have much better luck with that!
