Honor Society July 10

Lauren and I went down to Westport to a teen center to see Honor Society! While the show was in CT we did still have to travel about a half an hour from my house.

We paid our lovely $6 admission (over the weekend it was $12 to see them. love it.) and went in and grabbed a seat.

After the first bands set Micheal came over to us to say hi and that we could go shopping and then come back to see them because they were supposed to be on at 9:30, but it might have been sooner. But we hung around to check out the other bands.

A couple of other bands played (The Suns, Fourth World Nation, The Blue Pages) and then it was time for Honor Society!

For their set, we moved to a table because all the girls went up close so we were taller than them on the stools. They had a ton of technical issues so the guy from Blue Pages was getting everyone to sign up for the Blue Pages email list. He asked if we were from CT and he didn’t believe us when we said yes! I asked if he wanted to check our IDs, and he said “I might!” haha but all the other girls were from NY/NJ and follow the band, he told us. (Little did he know, we do too! It just happened to be that the show was in Connecticut!)

The guys played a short set of:
In This Club (Intro)
This Bed Is An Ocean
Kiss Me Like You Mean It
Why Didn’t I?
No Win Situation
Nobody Has To Know
The Takeover
See U In The Dark

After the show we talked with Jason, Andrew and Alex and got pictures! (We had already gotten pics with Michael earlier) We didn’t know when we’d be seeing them again, but hoped it would be soon!

Honor Society July 5

I’m not going to lie. I had no idea who Honor Society was when Lauren asked me to go see them. I had checked out their myspace briefly, but my computer has no sound so I had no idea what I was in for. I really only agreed because I can’t turn down a trip to the city and because I really wanted to find some more of those “Statues on Parade” that were promoting the All Star Game at Yankee Stadium.

I listened to their EP on Lauren’s iPod on the way to the show and it wasn’t half bad. But I still wasn’t sure if I was even going to count it as a concert – if I did, it would be my 100th show and that was a, well, honor… not for just anyone.

About halfway through the set, I fell in love. This band seemed to be everything I was looking for in that moment. I’m not sure if I even told Lauren “I love them” after the show, but if I didn’t say it out loud, I certainly was thinking it.

Usually I am really good about keeping a setlist (because I am a scrapbooker and need to include them in my layouts), but since I went into this show thinking I was just going to erase it from memory after it was over, I was totally unprepared. They played nearly an hour set though – so I would imagine it was most, if not all, of their songs. Look for setlists from here on out though, especially now since I know the names of most of the songs! ha.

Afterwards, we hung around a bit to try and say hi to the guys. Unfortunately, when it comes to shows in the city we are forced to plan the evening around the trains back home. While we could have taken a train an hour later – it would have put us back in CT really late (or really early, depending on how you look at it) and we decided we just weren’t up for that. But before we left we decided that we would absolutely be going to the show in CT the next week!

And with that… our journey officially began. And my first Honor Society show became my 100th concert ever.

Blake Lewis June 24

Lauren and I went to NYC to Blake Lewis in concert – but we were also going to be put to work by Real Magic TV . The site was going to be filming the show with 20 small flip cameras and 2 HD cameras so we had to man 2 of the flips out in the crowd!

News had broke a day or two before that Blake had been dropped from his record label. While we were waiting for Jonathan of Real Magic TV to show up, MTV News was outside filming interviews with fans about what they thought of him being dropped.

We were let inside early to set up, and MTV News was interviewing Blake about being dropped, so we just sat there and watched everything. Then Blake started setting up the stage and we started setting up cameras!

Blake put on a really good show, but unfortunately we couldn’t meet him afterwards because we had to catch a decent train so we weren’t getting home really late!

Brianna Taylor of The Real World opened.

Hanson May 3

May 3rd was my final Hanson show of The Walk Tour. It was in Lancaster, PA. I went with my friend Marisa, originally from Jersey but now living in PA.

We decided that we wanted to scope out where the buses were and perhaps hang out by them and miss Kate’s performance (but I didn’t want to miss SK6ers). We walked around the block and got to the buses, where there was a very small crowd also waiting.

Marisa decided she wanted to head across the street to get some chips and salsa. Of course, as she is waiting to cross the street with her back to me, Zac and Taylor walk by. She gets back and is mad that she missed them.

We eat our chips. The trash can is just beyond the bus door. Marisa goes to throw the trash out and Zac gets off the bus and is following her down the sidewalk, while I am having trouble containing myself because we knew that was going to happen!

All 3 guys end up going by several times and then we decide to head inside.

Except this venue is strange and only can let so many people on the main floor (and the balcony already had people all around it so you wouldnt be able to see a thing) and until someone else left you’d have to wait in the stairwell.

We talked to the guys to go in to buy merch and get my HNet card scanned. Then we got in line in the stairwell hoping that we wouldn’t miss too much of the SK6ers set.

This had to have been the strangest venue Ive ever been in. But we got a spot near a wall and could kind of see (When the 3 girls in front of us weren’t all taking pictures at the same time. wtf) and stayed there until the encore.

We left and went back to the bus, but it was raining. We had a prime spot, right in front of the bus doors. The guys all walked by us and got on the bus and the rain seemed to let up, but their tour manager, Tim, came out and said they wouldn’t be signing in this weather. We hung around for a little bit to chat with friends, but ultimately decided to believe Tim (which was the right thing to do) and headed out.

As we were leaving, we passed Kate Voegele and told her we enjoyed her set (even though we hadn’t seen it at all… but she did the same set every show so if you’ve seen one you’ve seen them all) and she said thanks. Later we followed her bus (accidentally, i swear) down the street for a little bit.

Hanson April 29

I headed to New Jersey after work. I got to the parking lot across the street and took a quick nap. Marisa and her sister were going to the show too but coming late so I was going to wait for them. Once I realized they’d probably be missing SK6ers, I decided to head in. I caught the tail end of Kate’s set.

This night was one of my favorite SK6ers sets. Maybe because I was so far back by the bar no one could bother me and I could see over everyone and wasn’t getting pushed all over the place, I don’t know.

I never did find Marisa or Beckie for that matter during Hanson’s or anyone’s sets, and I didn’t stop by to say hi to SK6ers like I had hoped to.

Marisa and her sister left after the encore to secure us spots by the barricade. After the show I went out and met up with them. This show had started an hour earlier so it was only 11 when it was over as opposed to the usual 12 that seemed to be the norm.

But 12 rolled around and pizza got delivered to the bus and it was then we knew it was going to be awhile and we had stuff to do the next day like.. more fun times at work.

So we left. Turns out Taylor came out and took photos with everyone and Isaac came out as well. Not a huge deal since it was Zac I wanted another photo with…

Hanson April 26

The real story of this show is what happened after in the parking lot and not so much what happened during the show.

Natalie and I spent the night in the car in the parking lot. I didn’t feel like sleeping on the sidewalk (across the street from the beach) if I couldn’t do the walk and therefore couldn’t get stamped to get in early. So we stayed in the comfort of the lovely Randy Taylor (my car).

When we woke up, we headed to find a Dunkin Donuts. When we got back, our spot was gone and the bus had shown up. We found a new parking spot and just chilled in the car.

We got out so Natalie could go on the walk, and i had spotted some elongated penny machines so of course I had to get myself a set from them. So that is what I did while they were on the walk. Then I situated myself to get some great photos when the guys came back and Taylor gave another speech.

Natalie and I played some arcade games and then went back to the car to chill before the show.

And Zac decided the parking lot was his playground.

He was playing with air-soft rifles with some of the roadies and Boots from SK6ers. At one point he was RIGHT next to the car, so Natalie yells “GET ‘EM ZAC” and he looks at us SO CONFUSED. I was taking photos of Zac being all stealth.

Later, he comes back to the car and asks us what we are doing. We told him just chilling and asked him what HE was doing. “Blowing off steam before the show” he told us. We chatted a bit about the BBs that were in the gun. (They hurt. He got hit on his nail earlier and it was still stinging)

We introduced ourselves and he reached into the car to shake my hand. Yes, Zac Hanson was “in” my car. Natalie got a photo with him and I was too shocked to ask. At least I was able to speak in coherent sentences.

After that, we decided it would be a good time to head inside. Where I got yelled at because a guy saw a flash and assumed it was me. I assure you dude, I did not have my flash on.

Later, I got in trouble because my zoom was too big. Dude. I am in the BACK of the place my zoom is about equal to if I had a disposable in the front row at this point – and I need GOOD photos for my scrapbook! I asked him if I didn’t zoom if I could still take pictures and he said yes… so once he disappeared I zoomed in again. I dont know who I was hurting by zooming anyway. Maybe the guy was just jealous of my zoom.

Hanson April 25

This show was a great kick off to my mini The Walk Tour. (4 shows) It was seated which is always my favorite. And we were in the 3rd row.

I decided to stupidly leave my camera in the car, and had only my brand new phone to take photos with. Don’t know why I didn’t at least try to get it in, it could have always been run back to the car. Oh well.

But the best part was when we first pulled in, the walk had just ended. Taylor was talking with some girls so we stopped to take photos (I used Natalie’s camera) This security dude jumped in front, thinking he would block the view and posed. So we had a picture of him, with Taylor in the background and we laughed and gave him a thumbs up and went to find parking. I mean, with the day starting off like that it had to be a good show that night!

And it was. Highlights were 2 new songs I hadnt heard Live before – Isaac’s solo “Every Day” and Zac singing the Beatles “Oh Darlin'” loooved it.

AND we were surprised at the end by PAT MCGEE joining Hanson and SK6ers for the encore. Yes, I will admit it, I went teenie when Pat came out. (And i’m not admitting that ONLY because Natalie CAUGHT IT ON VIDEO…)

SK6ers April 2

After work I headed down to New Haven and met up with Jen to see Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers for I believe the 11th time. They were doing a show at Toad’s Place with Alexa Wilkinson. We got our spot in the front row on the 21+ side and hung out there. The lighting was really bad, so I didn’t get many good photos – but the show was great as usual!

Toad’s puts a barricade up to separate the 21+s from the underagers, and for some reason the gap between the two was RIGHT in front of Stephen! Of course he had to comment on it.

Jonas Brothers March 18

For this Jonas show I bought VIP tickets which included premium seats for the show (I was 6th row center), a signed program (I sold it to pay for summer tour tickets) and access to the sound check with the boys before the show.

Everything was incredibly unorganized, but we ended up about 3rd row for the sound check. They sang Hello Beautiful, Australia and then Joe said they were going to sing a new song and they did S.O.S. That boy really cracks himself up…

Then we went back outside and waited to be let in again for the actual concert! Valora and Rooney opened again.

Once again, Joe tried to crack some jokes and said their new CD was coming out in 2011. When no one laughed, he tried to get reassurance from Kevin by asking him “Kevin, wasn’t that a good one?” I don’t know Joe, probably not a good idea to joke about CD releases with fans who want the CD NOW.

The setlist was the same as at Bridgeport, except that they had 2 girls come on stage who had been contacting Oprah to get the boys on the show. They surprised them by telling them that they were going to be on Oprah and so were the girls! It was pretty cool.

Jonas Brothers March 16

This was my first Jonas show and I didn’t know what to expect. I imaged it would be something like seeing Hanson in 1998 on their Albertane Tour, and I was right.

I knew it was going to be packed because when I bought tickets I had 4 browsers open so I could pick the best tickets that came up. Only one of the browsers pulled up tickets! They were decent though, so for that I was glad.

It took me a while to get used to the teenyboppers. (and the screaming!) but once I did I really enjoyed myself and the guys put on a great show! I was totally exhausted after rocking out to their first song, Year 3000.
