A Weekend In The Life

Sunday I attended the final day of Small Town Conventions / Decade Dayz “A Weekend in the Life”, a convention themed around the show Gilmore Girls and set in a small town similar to Stars Hollow – New Milford, CT. My main reason for going was to meet Chad Michael Murray and Matt Czuchry. They were both appearing on Sunday only so despite the fact that I bought a weekend ticket to make sure I could get in to see them, I also opted to only appear on Sunday.
Registration opened at 9am and my photo op with Chad and Matt was at 10:15 and New Milford is about 45 minutes from me, so I got to New Milford HS where the event was happening by 9:15, check in was super smooth and easy and then I wandered around where the photo ops would be and looked at some of the vendors. I have never seen so many Gilmore Girls themed items in one place!
I then lined up for the photo op – Chad solo photos were supposed to go first starting at 10am but was running about 20 minutes behind. As all con photo ops it was very quick but I said hello and nice to meet them – Matt said he loved my hair and that it was beautiful. I had considered leaving after that since it was really all I wanted to do, but decided to stick it out until 1:15 when Matt and Chad were going to be doing a panel.
I went to the auditorium where the panels would be to sit down and they were doing bingo/trivia. Of course the only questions I got asked I had no clue of the answer – but there were several that I did know that I wasn’t asked about.
The photo ops ended up running behind so it started about 30 minutes late. The auditorium was FREEZING and I just wanted it to start and finish so I could go home. Colin Egglesfield “Spring Break Sean” was the moderator of the panel and decided to act as if he was part of the panel and told really long, drawn out stories (some of which I was told he already mentioned in panels the day before) and not allowing the panel to be about Chad and Matt. The woman next to me was chosen to ask an audience question, but Colin went on and on about things that time ran out and she never got to ask anything. I do often have dislike for panel moderators – but he had to have been one of the worst ones I’ve witnessed in a while. (For context – Colin had a bit part in ONE EPISODE of Gilmore Girls)
All in all it was a fun day and maybe in the future I’ll consider hanging around for longer than just the day!
