While in town between seeing Hanson and the Party Animals, I got a new stadium visited – Target Field. We went to 2 games of the Red Sox vs the Minnesota Twins.
Monday night we got “special” tickets to get a dual bobble head of the Twins mascot TC Bear and the St Paul Saints mascot Mudonna. Both mascots were present at the game and boy is Mudonna SASSY!
A storm was going to be rolling through later in the evening, or so we thought, but as the sky got darker and we checked the radar it seemed like it was moving in quicker than expected. We ended up leaving around the 7th inning with the game tied, 3-3. I kept an eye on the score and saw that the Red Sox scored a run in the top of the 9th – and then they went into a rain delay. We managed to get home before the storm got too bad and thought maybe we would luck out and get to see the completion of the game on Tuesday night, but after a 90 minute rain delay the game resumed with the Twins walking it off and winning 5-4.
Tuesday was “night light night” as well as dollar dogs night. This giveaway was a little bit strange because it was an “as you exit” giveaway – which I felt was just encouraging fans to leave early. There were 20k night lights, 27k in attendance and we didn’t manage to get one when we left – because we stayed the whole game to watch the Twins lose. It looked like there may have been a possibility for a comeback but the Red Sox scored a few more runs in the top of the 9th and while the Twins had a homerun in the bottom of the 9th, they fell to the Sox 8-5. On the plus side, we did manage to get dollar dogs and a helmet ice cream.
The stadium was pretty neat and we were behind home plate on Monday and in the club seats between home and first on Tuesday. It would be fun to go back to see the Mets there at some point.
