Book Review: Let It Snow

letitsnowLet It Snow is Six Spicy Winter Romances.  The book is about 600 pages long – which can be intimidating – but there are 6 stories within it, so each one is in the ballpark or 100 pages.  It took me a while to make it through the book because I usually break up my romance novel reading with other stories as well, I’m a little burned out on romance stories now that I’ve finished this one!

The first story is O Christmas Three which is about Brianna and Garrett – a married couple.  But Brianna knows that Garrett’s best friend Leo was a little bit something more with Garrett so they go to his cabin for the holidays in hopes that he will agree to a threesome.

The second story is All He Wants which is about Keith, who has come back home from the Marines for the holidays.  His best friend’s little sister has been staying at his place while he has been away.  She is pregnant but the father isn’t in the picture. Or at least, she doesn’t want him in the picture.  Keith needs to convince her that he wants to take care of her and the baby all the while she thinks maybe he is just into her because he has been away and not been with any woman for a long time.

Story #3 is Jingle Ball.  The receptionist wants to hook up with her boss but doesn’t want to put her job on the line.

#4 is A Marquess for Christmas and since it is set in 1815 I skipped this one.  Sorry!

The fifth was One Gold Heart which I think was my favorite.  Mac does a favor for her friend Sully and takes his place in a few concerts while he recovers from some broken ribs.  She has severe anxiety on stage so she has to take beta-blockers to get through it.  At first, Finn, doesn’t like this but once the two find out about each others pasts they try to help each other.  Finn is also a Dom so I guess you can figure out where things end up going…

And the final story was Three Strikes. This was another BDSM story about 2 friends that hate each other or maybe they love each other? Obviously they love each other but getting each other to say it and show it is another story. Or is it?

Book Review: Euphemia Fan: Spy Girl

spygirlThe story starts out with Euphemia Fan, a 15 year old spy – seeing her uncle kill a man by the train station.  She runs off so that he won’t see her and calls 911 to report the body. She meets Tyler – another spy kid who has been following her because he thinks that something is going on with her father that she needs to know about. Tyler shows up at her house later that night and tells her that she needs to leave because 2 men have just entered her house.  She and Tyler escape and get a ride to where her older sister lives.  Of course, her older sister finds Euphemia and Tyler’s story to just be a tall tale – that is until she ends up almost getting shot by a goon herself.

Now the 3 must figure out what is going on with their father, Baba, before it is too late. The story moves very quickly, the FBI gets involved and there is a lot of action and mystery throughout the whole book.  I was happy with the outcome and liked that in the end, everything was explained to my satisfaction.

A great book for Teens and Y&A – since the main characters are 15/16.

Book Review: Veronica Mars #2 Mr Kiss and Tell

kissntellMr. Kiss and Tell is the 2nd in the Veronica Mars book series!   In this book we are learning a bit more about the Weevil case (that was previously mentioned / seen in the Veronica Mars movie – so if you haven’t seen the movie you might want to check it out before reading the book!).  Then Veronica is hired by a hotel (over her Dad!) in order to prove to the hotel’s insurance that the man accused of brutally attacking a woman who was at the hotel was innocent so that they would not have to pay the insurance claim.

Veronica of course proves that the man is innocent – but then can’t stop there even after she is no longer officially on the case.  She wants to know who beat this girl so badly and makes it her mission to find out.  Meanwhile, Logan is home but may need to go back soon because a fellow pilot was killed.

Also – it may be time for Sheriff Lamb to be voted out of his position as he is finally not running unopposed!

A lot going on in this book but still a lot of fun and an easy read. It’s nice when you already know most of the characters from the show / movie and can hear them saying the dialogue in your head and picturing them.  Loving this series and hoping for many, many more to come!

About the Book

In the second book in the New York Times bestselling mystery series, Veronica Mars is back with a case that will expose the hidden workings of one of Neptune’€™s most murderous locations.

The Neptune Grand has always been the seaside town’€™s ritziest hotel, despite the shady dealings and high-profile scandals that seem to follow its elite guests. When a woman claims that she was brutally assaulted in one of its rooms and left for dead by a staff member, the owners know that they have a potential powder keg on their hands. They turn to Veronica to disprove—€”or prove—the woman’s story.
The case is a complicated mix of hard facts, mysterious occurrences, and uncooperative witnesses. The hotel refuses to turn over its reservation list and the victim won’€™t divulge who she was meeting that night. Add in the facts that the attack happened months ago, the victim’€™s memory is fuzzy, and there are holes in the hotel’s surveillance system, and Veronica has a convoluted mess on her hands. As she works to fill in the missing pieces, it becomes clear that someone is lying—€”but who? And why?

Book Review: The Shape Of My Heart

shapeheartThe Shape Of My Heart is the 3rd book in the 2B Trilogy. I had previously read the first book, I Want It That Way, but somehow missed out on the 2nd – As Long As You Love Me. (Yeah, they’re all named after BSB songs!)  Much like the first in the series, this book got off to a slow start, but at least this time I knew to power through the background and things would get better.  This book is about Courtney and Max – roommates who are BFFs.  When Max’s grandfather dies, he asks Courtney to take the 12 hour trip with him back home to Rhode Island to go to the services because he doesn’t want to go alone.  He was kicked out by his drunk Dad when he was 16 after getting a car accident that made his little brother need to be in a wheelchair. Max hadn’t been back since and wasn’t sure how things would go over.  During the course of the trip, it is obvious to everyone BUT Max and Courtney that they are totally falling for each other.

Finally, when the two get back, after Max tries to fix her up with a guy and it goes bad, the two realize that they are in love with each other and become boyfriend and girlfriend.  It’s the holidays and for Thanksgiving, Max’s Uncle and Brother come out to visit.  Courtney decides that for Hanukkah / Christmas she will head back to Chicago and bring Max along.  Only one problem – Max knows that Courtney comes from money and he calls her a “princess” but what he doesn’t know is just how well-off Courtney’s family is. She doesn’t believe her father’s money is hers, so she hasn’t really mentioned it to Max.  When Mom pulls Courtney aside to talk about how she doesn’t approve of Max, Max overhears and storms off.

They end up breaking up and Courtney moves out.  But was it all for nothing or will they end up back together again?

As I mentioned, this book got off to a slow start, but once I got about half way through I was flying through it because I wanted to see what was going to happen with Courtney and Max’s relationship and if they’d somehow find their way back to each other after her Mom was such a bitch.  I did enjoy this book and will have to go back and see about the 2nd book in the series which focuses on the roommate in 2B before Courtney moved in, Lauren.

Since then, Courtney’s social life has been a series of meaningless encounters, though she’s made a few close friends along the way. Especially her roommate, Max Cooper, who oozes damaged bad-boy vibes from every pore.

Max knows about feeling lost—he’s been on his own since he was sixteen. Now it’s time to find out if he can ever go home again, and Courtney’s the only one he trusts to go with him. But the trip to Providence could change everything….

It started out so simple. One misfit helping another. Now Max will do anything to show Courtney that for every heart that’s ever been broken, there’s another that can make it complete.

Back To The Island Cancun: Hanson Show #2

The 2nd night of Hanson shows was the “Christmas Plus” show – originally it was Christmas On The Island but then they were hinting that it might end up being something more than that.  I was able to get front row for this show and I had made a cool Hanson BTTI Christmas Sweater shirt for the show.  The set started with 8 Christmas songs, many of which had never been performed live before (I ended up with 6 of the 8 I had never heard before) and then went into their favorite songs that they didn’t write (ie. Covers) and from that portion of the show I got another song that I had never heard live before.  Which since I’ve heard all 6 of their albums in their entirety – is a new record… at least until the new album comes out!  Then they finished out the set with 4 Hanson songs (since up to that point there was only 1 or 2 original Hanson songs included in the set)

At the end of the show, Zac went to give someone his drumsticks and I guess whoever he intended them for was NOT the one who grabbed them.  He braced himself with the stage and ripped them out of the hands of whoever had grabbed them and handed them off to who he wanted to have them!

Product Review: Reach It Grab It

20141229_124425

Lately I’ve been having trouble with my back, and bending over to pick things up I might have dropped is becoming a bit of a struggle.  I’m also relatively short so putting things on high shelfs in my room is difficult as well – I either need to wait until someone taller can help me or risk standing on a stool or chair.

Not anymore! Now that I have a Reach it Grab it, I am able to do a lot more a lot easier! Reach it Grab it has a firm and accurate grip which allows you to pick up anything – in fact its so accurate it can pick up a cent! (Another plus, since I have a collection of elongated pennies that sometimes get dropped on the floor when organizing them!)  It also is great at picking up small scraps of paper that fall to the floor when I am scrapbooking.

The Reach it Grab it is easy to use – perfect for the old and young. It has a strong grip and non-slip jaws. It has a reliable, smooth mechanism made from high quality precision components and sturdy construction for years of happy grabbing with an easy to use ergonomic design.

Benefits of ‘Reach it Grab it’
• Improves quality of life for people with back pain including spinal injuries, arthritis, knee, hip and joint pain that would otherwise be too difficult or too painful.
• Picking up objects dropped/lost in tight spaces can be difficult even when using a normal reaching aid. Our ‘Reach it Grab it’ has a swivel head, that offers a full 90 degree turning angle, almost anywhere is accessible.
• High grade aluminium construction means that it won’t rust, making it suitable for all outdoors work including removing pond debris and litter picking.

Try It Tuesday: Glitter & Vinyl Ornaments

For the longest time I had been using my Silhouette to cut out only paper for my scrapbook. I joined a few groups on Facebook and found out a bit more about what I can actually do with this machine beyond just paper cutting.  I started to do vinyl cutting and some glitters & paint ornaments.  The first set of ornaments in this set are painted – and I’m not really happy with the results. A lot of spots started chipping on the inside, I re-did the paint several times and just couldn’t get it to stick properly.  But my first vinyl cutting was the names to add to the painted ornaments.

Then I was introduced to glitter ornaments where you swirl floor polish or polycrilic into the ornament and then swirl glitter around so it sticks on the inside.  This seems to get a much better cover and doesn’t seem like it’s falling off at all.  Then I did some layered vinyl on the ornaments to mimic the shirts I made for our Disney trip.  I also did a baseball one (that I have since added a Mets logo to the front and Wright 5 to the back)  I also did some green Ninja Turtle faces as well. These are so easy and I couldn’t believe I was so scared to cut vinyl in the beginning!

Bye Felecia is the Mixtape the Jordin Sparks released.  He new album should be out sometime in 2015 and is up for pre-order at JordinSparks.com   The album will include the songs from the mixtape as well as some more songs as well.

These songs are a bit of a different side of Jordin than I am used to – but I love them.  Of course the track “How Bout Now” has gotten a lot of press because it is about her ex Jason DeRulo.  At the end of each track she also talks a bit about the next track and why she wrote it and stuff like that, and I always like that bit of “insider” information about songs. Great to hear it directly from Jordin’s mouth!

Book Review: Three of Hearts

threeThree of Hearts is about a girl named Haylee who is in a band.  The tour is just coming to an end and it is about to be Christmas.  Before their last show she finds out that Doug, the guy she thought was her boyfriend, is now seeing a girl from American Idol that is more of a girly-girl than Haylee is.  Her band mates, Ben and Lucas, tell Haylee to channel the negative energy into their set.  At the afterparty she gets drunk and ends up asking Ben and Lucas for a threesome. The two agree and the next morning when she wakes up she wonders if maybe she made a mistake.  But once they get back to Nashville it happens again.  With Ben and Lucas set to leave for the holidays to see their families, Haylee worries if this change in their relationship will ruin their friendship or the band.

This was a quick and easy read, I read it in about an hour. I was actually surprised at how quickly the reading went, but didn’t feel like it left anything out of the story.  Twenty percent of all proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to the It Gets Better Project.

About the book

Haylee Tremayne is tired of the road. The concert tour for Three of Hearts was a success, but she’s confused by the inexplicable tension between her bandmates, Ben and Lucas. She’s also ready to go home to her boyfriend in Nashville. Time off would probably help everyone relax, even if it is Christmas, a season with too many bad memories.

But right before their last concert, Haylee discovers she’s been dumped for a sexy girly-girl. Story of her life: all guys see is tomboy Haylee. At the after-concert party, she drowns her sorrows and—desperate to feel feminine for once in her life—asks Ben and Lucas for a threesome. And it’s just as sexy and fun as she hoped.

Back in Nashville, Ben and Lucas prove again and again that their first night wasn’t a mistake. But the tension between them is still high, and on Christmas Eve, their ménage takes a stunning turn. When it all falls apart, Haylee is terrified that their crazy relationship might cost them the band, their success, and worst of all, each other.
