Book Review: Maps / Mapas Spanish/English Learning Book

mapas

MAPS / MAPAS is a bilingual book for children.  The book features a young girl who asks “Where Do You Live?” But in the illustration it has the Spanish translation – “Donde Vives?” Several other children answer her with English and Spanish answers so that the children can learn all the different places you can live in both English and Spanish.  After asking where they live (a house, the city, etc) she gets more specific and asks what city do you live in? “En que ciudad vives?” What state, etc.

It’s a really cute book and a great way to teach children basic questions you would ask when you meet someone new in both English and Spanish.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

About the Book

This book is the SECOND in a series of bilingual books for children to either learn Spanish or English.
The book is accompanied by a website were the book is available in an animated format as well as many games to practice the vocabulary.

Please note! THIS BOOK IS EITHER FOR YOUNG CHILDREN OR FOR LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION!

Book Review: The Solar System through Infographics

The Solar System through Infographics is a lot of great information about the Solar System but everything is geared towards pictures with little text as compared to your usual solar system book. I am much more of a visual learner so I definitely like this approach and I wish that we had more books like this when I was a kid!

The book has a lot of great illustrations and also is jam packed with great information as well like – how much would your dog weigh on different planets?

If you have a more visual learner who needs to see things rather than read things and they are looking to learn more about the solar system, definitely check out this book. It is under 40 pages but has a lot of great detail and info in it!

I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review, I was not otherwise compensated.

About the Book

The enormous facts about our solar system can make your head spin! You hear about huge distances (like the 483 million miles separating the sun and Jupiter), huge timelines (it’s been 14 billion years since the big bang), and even huger mysteries (why the universe is expanding).

How can all these big numbers and concepts make more sense? Infographics! The charts, maps, and illustrations in this book tell a visual story to help you better understand key concepts about our solar system. Crack open this book to explore mind-boggling questions such as:
• How long would it take a beam of light to cross the universe?
• What exactly would happen if you were sucked into a black hole?
• Does alien life reside somewhere in our galaxy?

The answers are sure to be out of this world!

The Super Science Infographics series:

Infographics are a rapidly growing means of communicating ideas and information in visually digestible formats. Each book in the Super Science Infographics series uses this rising medium to provide an overview of various science topics. Stats, cool visuals, and did-you-know factoids offer high-interest appeal while also drawing in those looking for data.
