myVegas now on Android!

myvegas

myVegas slots is no longer just on Facebook, it is now an app for Android phones as well (I don’t know if it’s available for iPhones)

Things are a little bit different than on the Facebook version and the only thing you share between versions (if you hook the app up to your Facebook) is your Loyalty Points. Which is the most important thing, anyway. The proliferation of such games into the internet has profoundly impacted the exoskeleton of search engine, which we term as SEO, a conglomeration of UK search engine optimisation experts profess.

You must start from level 1 over again on the App and for now there are only 3 games available – Excalibur, New York New York and Mirage (with the last 2 being unlocked once you reach a certain level)  These games are similar to the ones on the Facebook app, but the bonus rounds are much different as some of them even provide Word villas answers if done the right way. There is no “high/low” or anything like that there is generally 3 bonuses – the free spins, one where you spin a wheel (some spin multiple times for multipliers, etc) and one where you have to pick things.  In Excalibur you pick 3 tiles and then pick a sword for a multiplier bonus.  In New York New York you keep picking until you’ve been “busted” 3 times and in Mirage you pop balloons. You start with 5 but some of the pops give you +2 picks so on the last 2 games it is possible to clean up the whole board, if you’re lucky!

The other slots say that they are coming soon.

Every hour you get bonus coins.  In the beginning I was getting 300 and now I’m only getting 250 – I don’t know if they changed it completely since I started playing or if you get less once you get to a certain level. (I’m currently 16)

Once you unlock the strip – things are very different here than in the Facebook app.  There are Bronze, Silver and Gold levels.  Right now I’m just doing the Bronze and it gives you some sort of challenge.  Some of them are quick and others seem impossible.  For instance – you may have to get 160 pretzels while playing New York New York.  This is when you’ll want to bet less because you want to get more spins and more chances at pretzels popping up.  For challenges where you need to earn loyalty points or XP it may be wiser to bet more to win more.  One was to get a 10 win streak going.  I got up to 6 multiple times but it took a while to actually win 10 spins in a row!  This keeps me stuck to one game at a time to try and do the challenges.

Currently I am 34% (it tells you your progress, which is nice) to earning 93,000 XP in New York New York.  I’ve been getting maybe 1% if I am lucky per hour with my bonus coins.  I’ll be trying to finish this one for a while I think, unless I win a big jackpot!

You do also get the spin the wheel bonus once each day like on the Facebook App and the multipliers for days played, etc are calculated different.

Loyalty Points are a bit different as well. On the Facebook app once you fill the coin up you get 10 points.  On the phone app you need to fill it up multiple times (I want to say 5, but I’ve never actually counted) and once you do you get 35 points.

If you want to skip any of the star challenges you can do so for a fee of $0.99 and you can also buy chips through the game for various prices if you so choose as well.

I think that I prefer to facebook version, but since I can’t play that all day this will have to work for now 🙂

Product Review: Send Out Cards Greeting Card

Send a Free Greeting Card!

SendOutCards enables you to reach out and touch someone with an online service which helps you send personalized, printed greeting cards and gifts through the mail with just a few clicks of your computer.  It is super easy to pick out a card you want to send, submit an address and send it out to any recipient.  I chose to send it to myself so that I could see how long it took to arrive.  (About 3-4 days from when I submitted the order, which was fast!)  The card is great quality and super cute – even if it is a scary monster 😉

Book Review: Fearless

Fearless is about a girl named Gia and her friends, though mostly Gia.  She is hanging out with them for a girls night out and realized that her sex life is missing and she is bored.  Her friends ask her who her fantasy is and she mentions a hot coworker, Luke.  Office gossip is that he will be accepting a job in a new location soon so she only has a couple of weeks to make her move or she risks losing the chance forever.

Her and her friends devise a plan to give her a disguise and have her show up in Vegas where Luke will be for the weekend and see if she can have her fantasy fulfilled.  She succeeds, but then realizes that maybe they have more of a connection than just in the bedroom.

When they get back to work, Gia is pleased to find out that she has a promotion!  But her new boss? Luke.  Due to what Gia’s alter-ego told him in Vegas, he decided to take the job that would challenge him.  Will he figure out that it was Gia in Vegas? What happens if he does?  Gia is going out of her way to make sure that doesn’t happen…

Another quick and fun read from Cosmo.  This was a fun one, because you wanted Gia to succeed in Vegas but I don’t think anyone realized just how well her whole plan would end up going down.  And then of course when they get back to work – things get even more intense because Gia feels like she has to hide and telecommute so that Luke won’t put two and two together.  Although she thinks he is great in all aspects of his life so he must be smart enough to figure her out? Right?

Book Review: Writing Scary Scenes

scaryWhile I think I’ve finally decided what I am going to be working on during NaNoWriMo and don’t think it will have any scary scenes, I still decided to check out this book because it can come in handy for future NaNos, I am sure.  Last time I checked out Writing Fight Scenes, this time I want to learn how to write Scary Scenes.

I’ve never really though about writing anything scary mainly because I don’t really like to be scared so I’m not about to do that to someone else.  So I never really thought about all the different kinds of fear that you can get as a response from a reader.  Chapter 1 covers all of this.

Again, although there are tips to write scary scenes – chapters also include drawbacks. I find these to be the most valuable, because if the scary scene is not coming across properly, the book won’t be as gripping to the reader and that is not what you want to happen!

I also found the chapter on pacing to be particularly interesting. There are different techniques to help reflect the speed of the action since it can vary from scene to scene.  Some scenes need to be drawn out to build suspense while others come across very quickly.

And of course a chapter on my least favorite thing in books (although it makes for a great story – it just makes me crazy when I am reading them!) is chapter 16 with Cliffhangers! Argh.  Definitely a necessary evil if you are an author though!

Book Review: Stay With Me

staywithmeStay With Me is the story of Hailey Bloom.  She is an ex-actress/pop star who has decided to leave Hollywood and go to college in Vermont, cutting off all of her Hollywood ties – including her stage mother.  She doesn’t really want to deal with a relationship since this is her first time really going to school but she ends up meeting a guy named Caleb Fox and she seems to fall for him and can’t seem to escape him – either in real life or in her mind.

The whole book she eludes to the fact that she has this big secret and when anyone finds out she will be over and done with.  With Caleb and Hailey’s relationship advancing rather quickly, I thought for sure when this secret came out it would absolutely rock their world and make a huge impact.  Hailey seemed to think the same – but when Caleb found out – he was pretty much ok with it.

And then they lived Happily Ever After.  Well, maybe.  There are still a few more books to come too!

Book Review: S.O.S

S.O.S is about a family that was on the Costa Concordia shipwreck in Italy. The book is told by Georgia, Dean and their daughters Cindy, Val and Debbie.  Debbie did not go on the trip as she had just gotten married, but after it all hit the news she had to hold down the fort back at home while they tried to get back home.

It is amazing what they had to go through to get off the ship. And then to hear about how they were treated once they got off the ship was absolutely horrible. But they refused to split up from each other and between everyone they were able to overcome all the obstacles and make it home.

About the Book

With powerful detail, an American family chronicles how they survived the notorious 2012 Carnival Cruise Line’s Costa Concordia shipwreck off the coast of Italy that tragically claimed the lives of thirty two passengers.

S.O.S.: Spirit of Survival is a one‑of‑a‑kind story of the incredible fortitude that ordinary people can conjure in order to overcome even the most harrowing of situations. Told from the point of view of each of the five members of one family, this book offers a unique and detailed look into the story behind the headlines surrounding the Costa Concordia’s sinking off the coast of Isola del Giglio, Tuscany in January of 2012. Their astounding account of the events before, during and, perhaps most shockingly, after the enormous cruise ship ran aground are sure to captivate and shock readers. However, the true message of this book is hope and profound inspiration, as this family’s bond deepened and strengthened through their journey of survival together..

Vegas Trip: Jeff Civillico

Jeff is taglined as “Comedy in Action” and is at The Quad at 4pm.  He has Turf from America’s Got Talent opening for his. Dude is ridiculous. He shouldn’t be able to do that! Jeff’s show is about an hour and you can expect unicycles, juggling, audience participation, high kicks and wedgie picks.  Our crowd was not really into it, it seemed, or a lot of his jokes were just falling flat.  Not enough a polite clap or laughter at times which he kept commenting on.  I guess that kept him on his toes to make him really need to try and impress us!  The show was a lot of fun and we were able to meet Jeff and Turf after the show.

Book Review: Streaks of Blue

streaksofblueI have a bit of mixed thoughts on this book.  I think the story could be told without all the Newtown connections. (Although half of the proceeds are going to the Newtown Memorial Fund, which is nice.) I think the story being told is important.  Nicole gets told in a dream – by the children of Newtown, that one of the boys in her class is planning something bad.  Nicole makes it her mission to befriend Adam and try to stop what is going to happen.  Meanwhile, she tells only her best friend about the dream who is now incredibly paranoid and hides in the bathroom at 12:14 every day because that was the time Nikki saw in her dream. (12/14 was when the Newtown shooting occurred)  In her effort to be friends with Adam, both of them get detention.  While in detention, Adam gives Nikki a sugar cube laced with LSD and the two end up suspended.  Nikki seems to be in a downward spiral, while Adam’s father is happy that he is spending time with Nikki because she could be a good influence on him.

Her plan seems to work and Adam does seem to not want to go through with his plan, but what will his buddy Thomas “Lee” Harvey think about it all?  He hates that his buddy is hanging out with “Dead Girl Walking”.  I won’t give away what ends up happening in case you want to read it.  Newtown connections aside (I think living in Connecticut it is a bit “too soon” for that type of thing, my opinion of course) it was a nice book about how a friendship can change the course of a person and I think in high school that is important.  There is another boy who gets picked on who has CP (like me) and Adam and Nikki trying to defend him is what lands them in Detention in the first place.  It would be nice if people could be nice to each other ALL the time – instead of in the days, weeks or months after a tragedy happens.  Then maybe these horrible happenings wouldn’t be so common.

About the Book

Adam Upton and Thomas “Lee” Harvey are plotting the next big school massacre at their New Hampshire high school. Nicole Janicek, who knew Adam in elementary school, tries to reconnect with the damaged teen at the start of their senior year. But will Nicole’s attempt to befriend the would-be killer disrupt the plot and turn Adam’s life around before the clock strikes 12:14?

Book Review: 13 British Horror Stories

13british

When I first saw the title of this book I was a little bit nervous.  I don’t do well with horror, scary, etc… But I figured I would give it a read anyway and if it got to be too much for me, well I didn’t have to finish all 13 stories. However, I did just fine reading the stories and they were not as horrible as I was anticipating (which is certainly a good thing!)

Each story is set in Britain and all have a different kind of creepy twist to them that keeps you guessing.  They are also short stories so you can easily read one here and there or perhaps during the commercials while watching TV 😉

A great book to get you in the mood for Halloween!

About the Book

Thirteen creepy, atmospheric stories by Rayne Hall, all set in Britain.

This collection contains the following horror stories: Take me to St Roch’s, Seagulls, Never Leave Me, Double Rainbows, Scruples, Through the Tunnel, The Devil You Know, I Dived the Pandora, Four Bony Hands, Beltane, Druid Stones, Burning
Only a Fool.

These stories are more creepy than gory, but they may be disturbing and are not recommended for young readers without parental guidance.

They have been previously published in magazines, ezines, collections and anthologies. Some are also included in the Six Scary Tales books.
