Breast Cancer Awareness Month

As you may know, October is Breast Cancer awareness month.  Look for a couple of book reviews this month on Concert Katie (and a giveaway!) related to this topic.  But for now, consider joining Hanes in their Virtual Comfort Package campaign.

Hanes has a facebook app that lets fans of the page personalize and send free virtual “Comfort Packages” to their friends & family.  For each package that is sent, Hanes will donate $1 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (up to $25k) to promote early breast cancer detection and provide mammograms to those in need.

Book Review: Absolute Love by R.I Willroth

I have to say this was not one of my favorite books to read.  It was very wordy and had a lot of reference information listed in it – bible verses, definitions, etc and it was really hard for me to really sink my teeth in to it and actually receive some sort of message from the words that were written.

The book is not just for Christians – it mentions several other religions as well.  It was a bit too technical for me which is unfortunate because I really was hoping to learn more about love. Perhaps I just was having a bad day when I read it, I don’t know, but it was incredibly difficult for me to get in to, though I did power through and read the whole book in hopes that something would end up catching my attention.  It didn’t.

Etsy Store – Caramel Expressions

Caramel Expressions has great prints that can be customized for your child’s bedroom. With dozens of prints to choose from, chances are you’ll be able to find something that matches the decor that you have in place already.

Since I don’t have a child myself (although some would consider me a big kid!) I opted to get a print for one of my newest buddies – Elizabeth Rose. Her mom and I have known each other since before we were born – as our fathers were BFFs growing up! Elizabeth was born in May and has an “under the sea” theme going with her bedroom – but her mother is a HUGE lighthouse fan. I found the perfect lighthouse print from Caramel Expressions that would work in Elizabeth’s room and make her mom, Lisa, pretty happy as well.

For just $19 I was able to choose if I preferred a red or pink lighthouse and was able to get it personalized for little miss Elizabeth Rose. The print is great quality and at 8×10 in size, was no problem to find a frame for.
