dearphotograph.com

I just came across a pretty neat website, dearphotograph.com – “take a picture from the past in the present”  It is a really awesome idea – take old pictures of you as a kid and then find that room or house again and overlap the old photo in the present day scene.

They are looking for more submissions and only have a few posted so far, but I think one of these weekends I might have to pull out the old photo albums and see what I can find! Fortunately I still live in the same house I grew up in, so it won’t be a problem finding the rooms (though many of them look very different from when I was a kid), but doing something like this might be a bit more difficult if you’ve moved away!

So Ready Designs Review & Giveaway

I am always looking for cute shirts to wear to concerts!  But beyond being cute, they must also be comfortable!  The last thing you want is a shirt that is riding up or falling down around your neck or is just completely hindering your ability to rock out at a show.

So Ready Designs has a great line of Penguin tee shirts that are great for rocking out at a concert, lounging around the house, chasing after your kids, and just about anything else you might want to do while wearing it!

I chose the penguin peace t-shirt in the burnout style and to REALLY test it out – I wore it to two concerts in one day. Not only that – I got my picture taken with both artists I went to see, so you can check out how it looks on.  First I checked out The Ready Set at a private acoustic concert and then I headed to see Javier Colon of NBC’s “The Voice”

Rock N Roll Fridays – Michael Jackson

1. BLACK OR WHITE: “It’s a turf war on a global scale
I’d rather hear both sides of the tale” …
What was the reason for your last argument?

Whether or not we had seen the Criminal Minds episode we were watching already. Seriously.

2. DON’T STOP TILL YOU GET ENOUGH: “Touch me and I feel on fire, Ain’t nothing like a love desire…I’m melting like hot candle wax, Sensation lovely where we’re at” …
Where was the last place you were intimate with someone?

LOL

3. ROCK WITH YOU: “Out on the floor There ain;t nobody there but us…Girl, when you dance, there’s a magic that must be love” …
What is your favorite dance move?

I don’t dance. Not a chance.

4. OFF THE WALL: “So tonight, gotta leave that 9 to 5 up on the shelf, and just enjoy yourself…groove…Let the madness in the music get to you, life ain’t so bad at all, If you live it off the wall” …
What do you like to listen to in the car or train/bus when you head home from work?

Lately it has been the radio, I really need to make myself some mix CDs for the car and/or get my iPod updated and charged to plug in to the car!

5. SHE’S OUT OF MY LIFE: “She’s out of my life. And I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. I don’t know whether to live or die. And it cuts like a knife. She’s out of my life” …
Who are you glad is out of your life?

My middle and high school class mates.

6. THRILLER: “They’re out to get you, there’s demons closing in on every side. They will possess you, unless you change that number on your dial. Now is the time for you and I to cuddle close together, yeah. All thru the night. I’ll save you from the terror on the screen” …
What is your favorite monster or creepy person?

I’m not big on the creepy, so I can’t say I have a favorite monster or anything creepy.  Unless you count Grover from Sesame Street.  He’s a monster and I love him.

7. BEN: “Ben most people will turn you away. I don’t listen to a word they say. They don’t see you as I do, I wish they would try to. I’m sure they’d think again if they had a friend like Ben” …
Who have you hung out with that no one else seemed to like?

Myself.

8. HUMAN NATURE: “Get me out into the night time, 4 walls won’t hold me tonight. If this town is just an apple. Then let me take a bite” …
What is your favorite thing about New York?

I love to visit NYC but I could never live there.  There just always seems to be something fun going on there and a reason to visit.

9. MAN IN THE MIRROR: “I’m starting with the man in the mirror. I’m asking him to change his ways. And no message could have been any clearer. If you wanna make the world a better place take a look at yourself and make that change” …
What was the last noticeable change you made in your appearance?

I cut off 10 inches of my hair about a month ago. (Donated it!)

10. BEAT IT: “They told him don’t you ever come around here. Don’t wanna see your face you better disappear. The fire’s in their eyes and their words are really clear so beat it. Just beat it” …
When was the last time someone refused to let you enter somewhere or threw you out of a place you were in?

I can’t recall that ever happening.

11. BAD: “I’m giving you on count of 3, to show your stuff or let it be. I’m telling you to watch your mouth, I know your name, what you’re about” …
What celebrity or politician do you think is a total jerk?

Donald Trump.

12. EARTH SONG: “Did you ever stop to notice all the blood we’ve shed before. Did you ever stop to notice this crying earth, this weeping shore” …
What do you believe is the worst environmental or political tragedy to date?

These tornadoes that have been going on lately are pretty bad environmental tragedies.  And scary too!

13. ROCKIN ROBIN: “Every little swallow, every chickadee, every little bird in the tall oak tree. The wise old owl, the big black crow, flappin their wings singin go bird go, rockin robin”
What is your favorite regional bird?

hmm. I am not sure that I have a favorite bird. I do know that our state bird is a Robin though!

Platinum Hit – Episode 3

In the 3rd episode of Platinum Hit, the contestants had to write a hook for a song that was road trip related.  They also all chose postcards which had a word on the back.  They would need to use this word in their hook, which made things a bit more difficult!

The winning hooks belonged to Johnny, Jes and Jackie.  Since Johnny came in first, he got to choose his entire team at once, while the other 2 picked alternating once Johnny was done.  Nick was last and Jes was asked if she preferred her team as it was or if she’d like to add Nick and she passed on him.  I was hoping that this would make Nick realize that his attitude SUCKS…. but nope!  He bragged about his track record and about how every team he has been on has had the winning song!

The 3 teams went on a little road trip to a motel and worked on their songs.  Nick thought that Johnny’s song sucked, but Johnny came in first and his team was safe.  Jes’ team was also safe.  Jackie’s team – including Nick – were in danger of losing someone because their song lost.

Nick and Sonyae were saved – because of one of Nick’s riffs and a line that Sonyae contributed.  Jackie and Karen were in danger of going home, with Karen ultimately leaving us.

A showmance began brewing between Jes and Johnny.  There was an argument over whether melody or lyrics are more important in songs.  Nick was still a jerk.  And next week they will be RAPPING!

Platinum Hit airs Monday nights on BRAVO.

Book Review: Get More Affiliates by Richard Adams

If you are selling any sort of product on the internet – it might be a wise decision to also set up an affiliates program.   Your affiliates advertise your product on their website and in return, for each sale that is made through their website, they get a percentage of the profit.  In theory, you’ll be making more money by having your information out there on various other affiliates sites and your affiliates will keep your link up because they are making money too.

But how can you create an army of affiliate to basically do the work for you when it comes to selling your item?  Look no further than reading  Get More Affiliates.  The book breaks down how to get affiliates, how to turn your customers into affiliates and several websites that can not only sell you product – but does all the work splitting the profits between you and your affiliates!

The book really breaks down everything you need to do and research in order to become successful selling your product(s) via affiliates.  It also contains screen captures of the websites which makes it a lot easier to know where you should be looking on the websites for the information that you need, without wasting precious time!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com created by WebBizIdeas.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. The Voice – Live Rounds (2)

This post may contain spoilers if you have not yet watched last night’s episode of NBC’s The Voice… Please proceed with caution 🙂

Last night on The Voice – 2 from Team Christina and 2 from Team Blake advanced.  I was 2 for 2 with Team Christina, with my picks Beverly and Frenchie advancing.  Team Blake was announced later in the show.

First up were the Thompson Girls. I am not really a fan of theirs and didn’t really dig their performance of Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.

Casey’s performance of Horse and a Cherry Tree was alright…

Vicci’s performance (Jolene)  completely rocked. I really like her.  But how tall is she?  I didn’t think Carson was all that tall and he made her look so tiny! lol

Devon did a great One Republic song Stop and Stare. I really like his voice!

Nakia did Sex On Fire.  I thought he did well with it, although for some reason I don’t really like him. But I will be pretty shocked if he does not advance next week.

Jeff Jenkins went for Carrie Underwood’s Jesus Take The Wheel.  I think his nerves and/or emotions got the best of him and it was not as good as I would have expected from him. (He is a favorite in the house)

Curtis did Addicted To Love – a country version of it.  I liked that he took the initiative and switched the song up and made it his own… but I still just can’t get into country!

Javier did AMAZING on Angel… but DUH I knew that since I saw him perform it LIVE last month 🙂

And once again we had some very entertaining performances from the coaches with their teams!

Advancing for Team Blake is Dia and Xenia.  4 for 4!

My Predictions of who will be advancing this week  are Team Adam: Devon & Javier.  Team Cee Lo: Vicci & Nakia.

Next week we go in to the semi final rounds.  Carson said that 8 will perform, so I guess 4 will prepare a song and then not end up performing it?  That should be interesting and add an extra emotional element!

Book Review: A Vision Of Lucy by Margaret Brownley

Recently I got the chance to read the book A Vision of Lucy by Margaret Brownley.  This is actually the third book in a series from Margaret, however I did not realize this until I was done!  There didn’t seem to be anything that I missed by not reading the other two – I think they are about different characters completely.

I was drawn to this book because Lucy wants to be a photographer and that is a hobby of mine.  However, this book takes place a long, long time ago so she has to carry around a lot more supplies than I do – I can just toss a digital camera in my pocket and be off… Lucy has to carry around the camera, tripod, plates, etc.

Lucy is very adventurous.  We are first introduced to her when she is climbing a tree to try and get a photo of a rare white stallion.  If she gets the shot – the editor of the newspaper will give her a job and will include her photos in the newspaper.  She also has a bit of a reputation around town as always seeming to be around when there is trouble.

This of course magnifies when the town finds out that she found the “Wild Man”, David Wolf.  Lucy starts to fall in love with David, but there are a lot of reasons why they can’t be together and the most prominent being that is half white and half native american.

Will Lucy get her job at the newspaper? Will women be able to vote? Will Lucy and the Wild Man end up together? Is David really a Wild Man and what will we find out about his past?  Find out all this and much, much more by checking out A Vision of Lucy!

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher through the BookSneeze®.com <http://BookSneeze®.com> book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. Thanks Governor Malloy !

Last week I got an email from Amazon. It seems I can no longer be an affiliate with them due to some new laws and the fact that I live in CT. I never really made any money with this affiliate program anyway, but it stinks that now I will definitely not be able to make any money with it!!

Hello,

For well over a decade, the Amazon Associates Program has worked with thousands of Connecticut residents. Unfortunately, the budget signed by Governor Malloy contains a sales tax provision that compels us to terminate this program for Connecticut-based participants effective immediately. It specifically imposes the collection of taxes from consumers on sales by online retailers – including but not limited to those referred by Connecticut-based affiliates like you – even if those retailers have no physical presence in the state.

We opposed this new tax law because it is unconstitutional and counterproductive. It was supported by big-box retailers, most of which are based outside Connecticut, that seek to harm the affiliate advertising programs of their competitors. Similar legislation in other states has led to job and income losses, and little, if any, new tax revenue. We deeply regret that we must take this action.

As a result of the new law, contracts with all Connecticut residents participating in the Amazon Associates Program will be terminated today, June 10, 2011. Those Connecticut residents will no longer receive advertising fees for sales referred to Amazon.com, Endless.com, MYHABIT.COM or SmallParts.com. Please be assured that all qualifying advertising fees earned on or before today, June 10, 2011, will be processed and paid in full in accordance with the regular payment schedule.

You are receiving this email because our records indicate that you are a resident of Connecticut. If you are not currently a resident of Connecticut, or if you are relocating to another state in the near future, you can manage the details of your Associates account here. And if you relocate to another state after June 10, 2011, please contact us for reinstatement into the Amazon Associates Program.

To avoid confusion, we would like to clarify that this development will only impact our ability to offer the Associates Program to Connecticut residents and will not affect their ability to purchase from www.amazon.com.

We have enjoyed working with you and other Connecticut-based participants in the Amazon Associates Program and, if this situation is rectified, would very much welcome the opportunity to re-open our Associates Program to Connecticut residents.

Regards,

The Amazon Associates Team
