To Do Lists

One of my goals for this year was to get more organized. Being at work all day during the week often leads to everything at home being a mess. To try and narrow down what to do each weekend, on Thursday or Friday I make myself a to-do list.

Usually it is a digital list and I strike through when I complete something. If its particularly long I will sometimes write it out – it makes it a bit more satisfying when you actually cross it off a physical list.

This weekend my to-do list has 22 items on it. As of the writing of this blog at about 1pm, I’ve done 5 of the items.

Once the movie I am watching ends (any minute now) I’ll get the laundry started and either work on some Honor Society stuff on the computer, or work on some scrapbooking. I’m not sure!

With any luck, by Monday morning there will only be a couple items left on the list. (And I’m willing to bet they will be the ones that involve cleaning my room… those are always the ones that are left…)

How my co-workers and I torture each other (music edition)

I wasn’t sure what to blog about today. I turned to my coworker for advice and he said “Did you blog about…” and held one finger up in the air.

This probably seems minor, but to US – this is us singing Justin Bieber’s ‘One Time’ to each other without really singing it. (But we do sing it sometimes too)

It’s a catchy song (although we are so not fans of his) and when we mention a song that gets stuck in our heads (Black Eyed Peas “I Got A Feelin'”, Lady Gaga “Love Game”, to name a few) to each other, we will bring it up throughout the day as a method of torture.

One day coworker came in complaining that Lady Gaga was stuck in his head. Thinking I was being incredibly sneaky and awful, I created Lady Gaga radio on my phone on Pandora, hoping that Love Game would be the first song to be played. I was right, and I tortured him, got him good, but it also backfired as the damn song was stuck in my head for the rest of the day too ๐Ÿ™

And of course now that I came in to work with Honor Society songs stuck in my head (usually the last song playing in my car when I pull up to work gets stuck) but have written this blog and gotten “the finger” a couple times already today from the coworker… Guess whats stuck in my head now? imma tell you one timeeee…

Honor Society Listening Party

Thought I was going to miss today, did you?

Not when I have something legit to talk about!!

Last night was Honor Society’s CD Release party in NYC. Lauren and I were obviously planning to go regardless, but since only the first 150 people would be let in, we weren’t sure if we’d make it so we tried to win passes from the fanclub.

In true concertkatie fashion, at 10am I got an email that I had won passes and that I needed to show up by 5:45 in order to be let in.

We got in a bit early and no guest list line was set up, so when we asked we became the first ones in line. While security was trying to figure out what was going on, Honor Society showed up and Alex came right over to Lauren and I to give us a hug ๐Ÿ™‚ Then they went inside for an interview.

Shortly after we were let in and when I picked up the passes they were VIP! We went into the small VIP area and were in there with family and friends of the band.

Soon after the guys came out and gave speeches and then came to mingle with the VIP area. We talked to Mike and Andy and got a pic and auto from Andy. Alex’s mom was right near us so she made sure Alex came by to sign our CD ๐Ÿ™‚ before heading out to mingle with the fans.

Later on, Jason came back into the VIP area so we were able to get a pic/auto from him.

We decided to venture into the crowd to get the last signature, from Mike and get a picture with him and then attempt to get a picture with Alex.

Alex is always surrounded by 5x as many girls as the other guys are. We almost made it up to him when he got called away (again) so they could say their goodbyes.

Luckily, we were VIP so when they came back out we were able to grab Alex for a picture and then chat with him for quite some time about our dreams and aspirations. (I want to see the band 20 times be the end of this year, he wants to be on late night TV lol) He said we should come to the Today Show and was asking if TV Shows count in my concert count. (As long as they perform – YES!) And he also said he would give me a drumstick in PA – I just need to make a sign so he’ll remember ๐Ÿ™‚

Then we chatted with Andrew a bit about our website, how many hits we’ve been getting lately and how they got a TON of plays on the myspace when they put the album up to listen before its release. He also said we should come to the today show and was really pressuring us to go LOL But we will do what we can! Gotta get the day off and take a 4am train so there’s a certain amount of preparation that goes in to that mentally lol

Seriously I don’t even feel like the night really happened, it was so amazing! I love those guys and am so so so proud of them and how far they have come (even though to me it seems like it has been SO FAST!) and can not wait to continue on this journey with them ๐Ÿ™‚

Check out my pics with the guys under the cut ๐Ÿ™‚

Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers 9-11-09

Last night was my 30th concert of 2009 and also my 20th time seeing Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers in concert (SK6ers) The old crew got back together after not seeing SK6ers all together in about 2 years!

This show was also even more special as it was the FIRST show on the latest tour for SK6ers and their CD “The Bear” just came out on Tuesday – so it was the first show where it was available for sale.

The opening act was Jeffrey Gaines who before pretty much every song it seemed told us what the song he was going to sing was about and why he wrote it. Knowing why songs were written or how they were inspired is incredibly interesting to me so it was fascinating to hear these stories.

I had DLed The Bear on Tuesday from Amazon MP3 to get the bonus tracks, but then ended up so busy I hadn’t listened to it yet, so going into the show I wasn’t sure how many songs I would know, but Jen and I discussed on the way there that a few of the songs on the CD we did know from them playing them live before they actually made it on to a CD. Stephen also assured the crowd at the beginning of the show that they would throw in older songs as well – and they sure threw in all of our favorites ๐Ÿ™‚

A new cover was thrown into the mix – of Sheryl Crow:

A couple of songs in a guy next to me jumped over the row and sat right next to me. When there were 3 empty seats next to me so he easily could have gone in to the middle seat not to disturb anyone. He also was clapping off-beat and that threw me off royally when Stephen had us clap along to Shady Esperanto and the Young Hearts. I opted to record video of the song at that point instead. He also had a really WIDE clap and for a small venue that was just not appropriate at all…

It was great to see the SK6ers again, I think the last time i saw them was on the Rock Boat so it had been quite some time, for Jen almost a year and Jessa – 2 years!

After the show, I purchased the hard copy of the CD to get it signed. We talked to Stephen first, and he smelled my CD. Then we went to Kit and he also smelled my cd lol It’s got to be cool to a see a CD come together after so much time working on recording it and designing it and stuff. Kit also was checking out Jessa’s insert saying how it was nice to see it all finally together. Boots did not smell my cd, but we did talk a bit about the Mets and how sad the season was.

I’m not sure when I’ll be seeing the SK6ers again as their tour isn’t coming back this way for quite a while, but I am very much looking forward to seeing them again – I always leave with a huge smile on my face.

A Series of Unfortunate Events โ€“ Idol Style

Let’s just recap last night a bit. Then under the cut I’ll do pics and review and setlist and all that good stuff ๐Ÿ™‚

1. Had tickets, then didn’t
2. Got 8th row, 6th row popped up right after
3. Took an HOUR to get off the exit and find parking
4. Squeezed in such a tight spot, I barely was able to get out of my car.
5. As I walked in, music was starting. (Luckily, just the intro videos!)
6. Sat down and women next to me are whispering about me and looking at me. One goes “FYI, but my husband is coming BACK” and motions like his seat is my seat. I tell her “but this is MY seat” and she looks at her ticket to realize SHE CANT READ. Mayyybe read before accusing me of stealing your seat? (This happened to me at the Red Sox game too, apparently I look like I can’t read or count. Trust me, I can. At least when it comes to tickets~!)
7. AND KRIS ALLEN WAS TOO SICK TO SING
9. The door to the parking garage I came through was LOCKED (but thankfully I found my car)
10. There was a ton of construction on the highway on the way home

definitely in the bottom as far as concert experiences go. unfortunately.

Under the cut I’ll try to be a bit happier ๐Ÿ˜‰

Michael Sarver
In Love With A Girl, Gavin DeGraw
Closer, Ne-Yo
Michael was up first. I can never remember the order they were voted out. So I’m like.. wait.. he was kicked out before she was? and stuff like that throughout the show lol The crowd didn’t really seem into him, but I think he did a great job and he just kept waving to everyone. Super cute.

Megan Joy
Put Your Records On, Corrine Bailey Rae
Tears Dry on Their Own, Amy Winehouse
Megan was better than I expected she would be, but wasn’t overly impressive or amazing. I’ve read other reviews that said she was… so either those people need new ears or perhaps she also has the bug? Who knows. Glad she only did 2 songs though.

Scott MacIntyre
Bend & Break, Keane
A Thousand Miles, Vanessa Carlton
Scott gave us all a high five and was talking about how his and Ryan’s hi-five was the “high five heard round the world” He tried to joke a bit but they all seemed to fall flat. He sounded great though, even though I hear after Kris he is probably the next sickest.

Lil Rounds
Be Without You/Just Fine, Mary J. Blige
No One, Alicia Keys
Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It), Beyoncรฉ
Lil sounded really raspy. Again, don’t know if it’s the bug or if she’s just strained from performing night after night. She rocked at doing the Single Ladies dance. And there was some guys standing next to the side of the stage doing all the choreography with her. Very entertaining.

Anoop Desai
Always On My Mind, Willie Nelson/Elvis Presley
Mad, Ne-Yo
My Prerogative, Bobby Brown
Anoop BROUGHT IT. Boy can sing and boys got moooves! Totally impressed with his set. I mean, I knew he was good in the original auditions but on the show he seemed to lose that edge he had. (Heck, he didn’t make the Top 12!) But he can definitely sing. And dance!

Matt Giraud
Hard to Handle, Otis Redding/Black Crowes
Georgia on My Mind, Ray Charles/Hoagy Carmichael, Stuart Gorrell
You Found Me, The Fray
Matty G was awesome too. He has a great voice. Though didn’t really seem to have the fanbase during the show. (He definitely does now though!)

Production Number
Megan & Lil: Canโ€™t Take My Eyes Off of You, Four Seasons/Andy Williams
Scott & Matt: Tell Her About It, Billy Joel
Michael: Suspicious Minds, Elvis Presley
Anoop, Matt, Scott, Michael, Lil, Megan: Begginโ€™, Four Seasons/Madcon
I really liked the medleys and them all singing together. For me this was the best part of the show. Little did I know what was coming juuust after.

Sick Kris ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™

Allison Iraheta
So What, Pink
Cry Baby, Garnet Mimms/Janis Joplin
Barracuda, Heart
I was incredibly devastated during Allison’s set. But she is amazing! So talented for being so young. She had great stage presence too.

Danny Gokey
P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing), Michael Jackson
Maria Maria, Santana
What Hurts the Most, Rascal Flatts
My Wish, Rascal Flatts
Gokey still can’t dance, but he tried.

(love this shot)
Adam Lambert
Whole Lotta Love, Led Zeppelin
Starlight, Muse
Mad World, Tears for Fears/Gary Jules
Slow Ride, Foghat (with Allison Iraheta)
Life on Mars/Fame/Letโ€™s Dance, David Bowie
Adam sounded like a chipmunk during Starlight. And I think the girl in front of me noticed too because when he started she turned to her friend and gave a “WTF?” look.. and I’m sure I looked about the same. I don’t even understand where that voice came from but it was only for that one song. I stood for his set, because if not I wouldn’t be able to get pics. And then I was sad when I got good pictures. I was just.. completely sad the whole second act.

Group Idol Finale
Entire Group(-Kris): Donโ€™t Stop Believing, Journey (with a chorus of Steamโ€™s Na Na Hey Hey Goodbye)

Ticketmaster

Today’s blog was going to be about going to try and meet the Idols again at the barricade, but they’ve all been twittering that they are sick, so i wasn’t sure if their handlers would even allow them to do the barricades before the show, plus I was pretty sure Kris had press to do so the odds of him coming out were slim. I’m not sure if I should check to see if they came out or not… but I am sure I will meet Kris eventually. I’ve met last seasons #1 and 2 and the season before that’s as well…

Instead I’ll talk a bit about Ticketmaster, who saved the day for me today. For a while I thought I was going to the show… but Monday night was told the ticket was no longer available to me. StubHub had e-tix only and nothing was even that great (I hate e-tix, but in a pinch, I’ll get them lol) and the stuff that was great was too expensive. (Front row is nice, but not for $350)

I’ve always heard, though never really tried, that the day of the show good seats are released. Well, I got 8th row in one of the side sections this afternoon – so I guess it’s true. However, I don’t think I have the patience to do this all the time. It is such a stressful experience and you’re always thinking “should i buy this one? Will something better come up?”

Of course, moments after I bought 8th row, 6th row popped up. Ugh! But 2 rows I guess isn’t a big deal in the long run.

Meanwhile I was also.. digitizing books – or whatever BS they tell you you are doing when you type in their captcha. How am *I* the one translating what the text says, when the computer knows if I spell it right or not? Someone must have done it once already. Although, maybe not, because sometimes I can not type it 100% accurate and it’ll still go through. But considering ticketmaster isn’t all that well liked, I guess I like to assume the worst of them.

Soo.. tomorrow’s blog will be a review, I’m not sure if it’ll include pictures. Picture will come eventually but I’m not sure I’ll have a chance to edit them tonight since I do have to go to work tomorrow! If not, pictures will come Saturday. Not because I am trying to milk this blog a day thing to get more content, but because tomorrow night I am going out with the old crew to see Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers. (Yay content through the weekend! ๐Ÿ˜‰ haha)

My scrapbooking is SO behind… I still need to get through July!

Lightscribe!

Lightscribe is one of my newest toys. My computers DVD player crapped out on my a while back and forgot that it knew how to burn DVDs. It played them, but that was it. My coworkers assured me that a new DVD player would be easy to install (so I made one of them do it!) and when we were picking out what one I should use, we noticed that lightscribe was only like $3 more.

There are special discs (currently I only have CD-Rs, but they have DVDs too) and when you flip them upside down in the DVD drive, you can “etch” a picture on to the top of it.

My first try was putting a Hanson symbol on a CD that is still blank. (Soon to be a mix cd for my car though! Whenever I decide what songs I want to be on it!) My second try was a picture disc. (I save all my pics on the computer and on a disc and soon they will be on an external hard drive as well.. again.. need to get my act together and stop being lazy and get organized!) I took a picture of the Unisphere from the World’s Fair at Arthur Ashe Kids Day and since the Kids Day pics were one of the folders that went on this disc, I figured it was appropriate.

I did this one on the “normal” setting, I think from now on I will stick to the “Best” setting. It comes out much better that way. But below is my latest creation. I want to try and do photos of actual people… perhaps Honor Society (even though my upcoming pictures will be American Idol and SK6ers) to see how that comes out.

My first photos with Celebs

A lot of times I mention that Tony Lucca was my first photo with a celeb. This is a lie. Actually, my first photo with celebs was when I was very young and it was with Jessica Tandy and Hume Cronyn. I’m not sure how old I was here and I don’t remember all the details either.

I know we went to their house for the photo shoot, it was my mom, my Aunt Susan and my brother David. I remember there being big umbrella like things set up for the lighting for the photo shoot. And there was a horse on the top of their book shelves which Hume lifted my brother to get a closer look at.

I’m working on an 8×8 scrapbook of all my photos with celebs and needed to scan this one to get a print done up, so I figured I should share it ๐Ÿ™‚
